PlayStation has posted almost eight minutes of new Genshin Impact gameplay, showcasing the free-to-play action RPG on PlayStation 5. The above video can be viewed in 4K at 60 frames-per-second, which should give you a great idea of how the title looks on Sony's new system.
In short, the incredibly popular title is looking buttery smooth. On PS4, Genshin Impact suffers from a frame-rate stutters and, at times, some noticeable input lag. When played on PS5 via backwards compatibility, the PS4 version performs a lot better — but it's still not perfect. We're expecting the native PS5 edition to be the definitive experience, then.
Developer miHoYo has also posted a quick developer summary of what we can expect from Genshin Impact on PS5. In short: super crisp visuals, rock solid performance, and lightning fast load times.
Genshin Impact lands on PS5 next week, on the 28th April, but will you be playing? Glide gracefully into the comments section below.

I've never played it but I'm gonna try it on PS5.
I was very impressed, played for 10 or so hours, thinking this is the PS BOTW that I wanted. But then Immortals came along and I was like THIS is the PS BOTW I wanted. Maybe I just like cell shaded grass. Anyway, I have been wanting to return, so I will jump back with this new update.
Wow. This is interesting. It’s entirely possible that Sony has updated its contract for 3rd parties to disallow them releasing games on PS4/5 for full price IF the competitor(who is 10+ times more wealthy) is willing to give its customers said game for borderline free. I hadn’t even thought that this was a possibility!
Those load times are a thing of beauty.
@KayOL77 ?
Genshin Impact isn't on Xbox, it also has always been a f2p game.
I'll play this when there's an actual ending
@everynowandben Games like these don't really have endings, they just keep going while they're profitable.
They had plans for one episode for region, the game has already been out for quite awhile and we still haven't had the first major patch with a new area.
@Athrum That's fine, it's just not for me then 🤷♂️
Going to jump back in at some point.
@everynowandben The ending is when you acquire your favorite character.
@Rash So then you never use your favorite character? 🤔 Also how do you know they're your favorite if you haven't acquired them yet?
@everynowandben It's a Gacha game. You grind primos or buy crystals. You get to test unaccredited characters through story and timed events.
I Play it at 4K/60fps on PC. Upgrade as soon as you can, the world is beautiful.
I try and buy something every other month (only the $4 blessing) just because of how much work went into it. Feel guilty playing it for free.
Also, tons of fun co-op.
Playing Genshin on PS4 but the lag and framerate drop are really an issue. Would love to play this on PS5 in glorious 60FPS.
I got to say, for a F2P game, it's really fun and I haven't even spent a single dime on it yet. It's a good alternative if you are looking for a BoTW like game while waiting for BotW2
@Rash I understand that it's a gacha game. Getting your favorite character doesn't end the game though, correct? I mean, that would be pretty strange. I don't understand what you're trying to say.
@everynowandben With any game, the satisfaction of unlocking your end game content, is end game. Doesn't mean you have to stop playing it, but your achievement is done. If you play just till the end of the story and still have other things to unlock, then you still haven't finished. Just depends on how much you enjoy it, I guess. Also note, being a service game, as long as it's still alive, new content will always be added all the time.
I wish they made a sequel as a proper AAA full game without MTX, it has a lot of potential. Ah yes, a man can dream.
Can't wait for the update, it's already 60 fps on ps5 but I'll take the no loading time and enchanced texture 😃
@KayOL77 Dude, grow up, pure xbox is that way if you like xbox more. Console war is so...2013.
Gameplay looked cool, looking forward to trying out in a week!
