No longer will you need to fight for the right to play as your favourite Avenger, as the Tachyon Anomaly Event is bringing heroes from different timelines together in Marvel’s Avengers – meaning you can construct a Strike Team consisting solely of the Hulk if you want. Or Thor. Or Iron Man. Like we said, you can go completely nuts.
“AIM's tampering with time has led to periodic Tachyon Anomalies,” the lore explains. “Whenever these events occur, Avengers from different timelines can converge in a single location and take on the world's threats together. The first Tachyon Anomaly is happening from 22nd April to 3rd May and allows players to form teams of more than one of the same hero.”
As part of the promotional period, Crystal Dynamics is introducing Temporal Assault Nameplates – or, to word this another way, animated nameplates. You’ll get a team-themed one for free by completing the weekly mission chain being added on 22nd April, but character specific ones will also be released on the Marketplace on the same date.
Look, there’s a lot of words here to effectively say a couple of things: new missions will allow multiple people to play as the same character, and animated nameplates are on the way. We know that Marvel’s Avengers’ reputation is somewhat in the gutter, but at least Crystal Dynamics is taking steps to enhance the overall experience.

So that is what Tachyon anomalies are? How boring is this?
Still haven't gotten the game yet. I'll check it out once Black Panther comes out probably. I love Marvel, but the beta I played just seemed very uninspired.
@AFCC Yeah... I mean, I genuinely like this game more than most people I think, but still it's a bit mad that they've built a promotional event out of... Y'know, being able to use the same character!
Game is definitely not as bad as people make it out to be. But we’ve played better Marvel games so it doesn’t carry over well.
I'm playing it thanks to PS Now, and it's way better than I thought.
Have almost finished the campaign..i will be jumping back in as soon as i've mopped up the last few trophys on fenyx rising..
At some point, haters will have to quit bashing this game for nothing :
OK, the game is not perfect and still has a long way to go BUT it is in a way better place than it was at the beginning and small improvements continue to make it better and better on an almost weekly basis. The player count has its ups and downs but there is a solid fanbase that remains committed to the game, its numbers steadily increase and never really drop back to the low point that it was in November (or something like that...).
And don't catalog me as a "blinded fanboy" just yet, there are still some aspects of the game that deserve to be bashed to death: the game is still WAY too much repetitive, there are still bugs that have not been addressed since day 1, the matchmaking still needs improvements, and the price of the cosmetics is a F****** Joke/Steal.
At the end of the day: No, the reputation of the game is not in the gutter, it's not great but we will get there at some point eventually.
Just recently bought the game because of the spring psn sale, it’s actually pretty fun. Can’t wait for these new updates to come through.
Tried this game on PS Now. Holy crap it was one of the most boring video games I've ever played. I felt myself falling asleep an hour into it; it's definitely not my cup of tea.
The event seems really lame too. Wow, you can party up as all the same characters for a while. Why not just make that a permanent change?
@Darkashura i agree with you on this...its cool to hate this game..i really like it but the cool kids will hate..
The campaign for this game is a solid 8/10. Really enjoyed it.
Just the multiplayer that lets the game down.
I love how they sell f**king nameplates among some of the worst skins out there for a superhero game. I do really like the game sort off because the combat is great and fun but jesus christ its like nutless monkey's are working at CD.
Playing Avengers now via PS Now, enjoying the game, this update isn't for me though, not playing the multiplayer.
Hard pass on this event, more interested in the upcoming Black Panther and Spider-Man DLC campaigns.
Good to finally see some positive comments on this game.
The event could be kind of fun. I'll try playing a mission with a team full of Thors
@Northern_munkey the cool kids love nothing more than a hate bandwagon. It's a way for them to take out all their anger about their daily lives on someone/something else.
@get2sammyb I liked the game more than most, in particular the straightline story we had, the endgame is kinda meh, you really have nothing to do and leveling up is a chore.
But I saw the roadmap and I thought "Ok, I'll play later on PS5"...thinking the Tachyon event would be something cool. It's not, at all lol it doesn't even feel like an event, it seems like it's something they could just flip a button and do. This game is a disaster, sadly
