Persona 5 Strikers has done pretty well for itself. The action RPG, which launched back in February here in the West, has surpassed 1.3 million copies sold. Atlus had previously reported that Strikers hit 500,000 copies sold in Asia by the end of last year, so its Western release probably accounts for the majority of sales.
It helps, of course, that Persona 5 Strikers isn't just some lopsided spinoff. In our Persona 5 Strikers review, we called it "a fantastic follow up to a beloved JRPG", praising a fun combat system, cool character moments, and, of course, a stellar soundtrack. We concluded: "While we doubt that Strikers will be remembered anywhere near as fondly as Persona 5, the game goes beyond expectations to provide a classy companion piece. A must-buy for existing fans."
And with that in mind, it's nice to see that Strikers has left a mark. Are you a fellow fan of the Phantom Thieves? Plan your next heist in the comments section below.

Definitely deserving. I finished it last week and had an absolute blast. Easily the best musou game I've played.
I finished this last week too and loved every second. Its an absolutely wonderful game and truly is a proper sequel to Persona 5. For a 30 hour game, i somehow sunk 70 hours into it.
Would love to know the breakdown of PS4 vs Switch sales
@Rob_230 "Would love to know the breakdown of PS4 vs Switch sales"
Yeah I want to know that too. I assume it sold more on PS4 considering that P5 and P5R are also on this plattform but I hope it sold well enough on Switch to convince Atlus to finally port P5(R) to the Switch
Congrats to Atlus and Omega Force for another well deserved success. I loved Strikers from start to finish and thats saying something as someone who never was into musou games.
I can see my boy Yusuke yelling "HEE HO!" after hearing this news now!
Despite the story playing it incredibly safe, the game itself surprised me through and through with how closely faithful it was to what made turn based Persona so much fun with a more visceral sense of style thanks to it all being real-time
Definitely deserved. I intend on picking it up for PS4 now that my PS5 has come in but I played it first on PC and it was definitely worth it
@Rob_230 would have to imagine Switch has the lions share in Japan with them loving some handheld action.
@Kopite @mariomaster96 Looking at Siliconera from when the game released last year, the opening week heavily favoured PS4:
Persona 5 Scramble sales numbers are in. The game was released in Japan on February 20th, and Famitsu has reported how it did in its first week. Persona 5 Scramble sold 115,995 units on the PS4 and an additional 46,415 units on the Nintendo Switch, making for a total of 162,410 units sold at retail. The Switch version accounted for 29% of the game’s sales, while the PS4 version accounted for 71%.
Im a little surprised switch numbers wern't higher given the portability - but i guess performance issues on switch (the loading times look horrendous), plus the fact the game was a sequel harmed its sales potential.
Its interesting. From a Playstation perspective im obviously pleased as i don't want to see the franchise move away from Sony devices. But given the volume of people campaigning Atlus online to bring P5 to switch you'd have thought the sales gap would be more even
Very well deserved. I initially was reserved as I hated the downgrade to the visuals that made it look like a 3ds game. But the story, gameplay and performances just made it the best persona spinoff game by far.
Now I hope we can get more persona 5 spinoff games as we now need the Sankara Stones and Crystal Skull as final bosses to keep up the trend.
It's a good game so it deserved it. Next up Persona 6.
Fun game, glad people bought it.
Yep, lots of fun.
I even started it twice. Started first on Switch and stopped. Waited for my PS5 to start it over. Love the art! even the menu is awsome.
@Rob_230 The demand for Switch ports definitely is more Western-centric compared to Japan. Joker being in Smash definitely exposed a lot of English speakers to the series who previously never heard of it or Megami Tensei, so most of the outcry for Switch or even PC versions of these games definitely came from English-speaking audiences
I am glad that Atlus is in a good state right now that maybe they can think of making a P6 or unless they're a music rythym game.
I loved Persona 5. I am about eight hours info Strikers and I'm not yet sold on it. When playing Persona 5, I couldn't put it down. With Strikers, I find myself repeatedly taking breaks.
That reminds me I still need to beat Persona 5
1.3 million seems like a very arbitrary number to have "smashed" 😂
@Rob_230 yeah those numbers are a surprise given the popularity of handheld gaming in Japan you thought it would have bossed it over there. I'm still hopeful the Persona 4 Golden re-release will come to PS4/PS5 eventually.
Happy to hear the game performed very well. I still need to finish Persona 5 Royal first, before I can tackle Strikers.
