Lost Judgment, a full sequel to the excellent Yakuza spinoff Judgment, has been officially announced. It'll once again feature detective Takayuki Yagami, who'll be investigating another mysterious murder case. This time, however, you'll be exploring Yokohama as well as Kamurocho. Players who are familiar with Yakuza: Like a Dragon will already know Yokohama — it's the larger city where most of that game takes place.
There are all sorts of improvements in this sequel, and SEGA is keen to talk about them. For starters, detective elements are more involved. Chase and tailing sequences are more detailed, and new platforming sections have been added. There are even stealth options to consider.
Then there's the action. Lost Judgment expands on the action combat of the first game by adding new moves and a whole new fighting style: snake. The snake stance focuses on counterattacks, which gives Yagami a fresh edge when fighting baddies.
Oh, and did we mention that Yagami can ride a skateboard around town in this one? You better believe it.
And last but certainly not least, we've got the release date. For the first time ever in the Yakuza series history, Lost Judgment will release at the same time worldwide: the 24th September, 2021. Not too long to wait!

Been meaning to play the first one but never got around to it. These Yakuza games have frankly burnt me out at this point, theres only so much beat em up gameplay I can take
They are fast! West developer should take notes..🗒
The production speed for this games wow
@Ridwaano How would you feel if every other game used the same map over and over again? That's partly how they get these done so fast.
This is awesome. Yeah I like the Yakuza/Judgement games because I keep revisiting familiar territory. But if every game copied environments it would get annoying.
@LiamCroft
Pretty good I guess. People who buys fifa is doing the same thing 😉
Looks alot of fun and i'll definitely pick this up. I'm assuming the decision to use Yokohama was to reuse assets from like a dragon (fair enough) but there seems to be lots of new environments to explore.
Many will be pleased to see its an action fighting system this time around - and it looks to have taken a bit of inspiration from Yakuza Zero over the fighting styles.
Looks great!
Will it have english dub?
@Ridwaano Most developers would be torn to pieces if they reused maps as often as the Yakuza series does. 😂
Already want to play the story. And was so happy when it said worldwide release!
Another game on an already packed list. Games, games and more games... love it!
Excited for this. I never quite finished the original Judgment, so I need to pick up the PS5 version and wrap that up before this releases!
so this series will be focused on action, while yakuza is turn based from here on.
Looks awesome! I can't wait!!!
@get2sammyb they mentioned something about it i think.. you can pick sequel and understand story it seems...
@PegasusActual93 Not wanting to burn out is a big reason I've been spacing these games out over years. Also another reason I'm looking forward to when I play Like a Dragon, as I think the turn-based gameplay is going to do wonders when it comes to making Yakuza feel fresh.
Now that Village is out, Lost Judgment is my most anticipated game for the rest of the year. I'm a bit iffy about the suspect tailing gameplay returning (I hated it), but I'm extremely excited about the rest.
Worldwide Release, what a glorious time to be alive
@Snake_V5 Yep, fully dubbed. Whole trailer's in English, in case you can't watch it.
I like the story of the first one as well as technical quality. Awesome English voice acting. Awesome mini games, awesome brawling. The only thing I hated was the detective "games"... those sucked and were boring af. They want to have more? Meh. What I was hoping for is more Phoenix Wright gameplay, clues collection, courtroom drama, not some secod grade tailing repetitive gameplay.
@PegasusActual93 I feel ya man. Ive always enjoyed these games but theyre hardly any different from one another (besides like a dragon). There are many ways to improve and deepen the combat but it always remains pretty much the same. I think Y0 has the best combat
@Snake_V5 the original did. I usually play Yakuza games with Japanese audio. I heard Judgement had good English voice acting, gave it a try and never went back to Japanese. It was that good. I'm guessing the second will be equally good if not better.
yokohama, snake style, skateboard, robot wars and worldwide release?! Cant wait to michi again Yagami-san!
I was planning on Judgment being my next Yakuza entry playthrough, so I'll probably do that this summer.
Can't wait.
IN!
I like the way RGG is going to keep things fresh.
Yakuza - turn based - Judgement - beat em up.
Both wacky, brutal, interesting and very much have that Sega DNA of old but above all else.. Fun. So many games these days go for the gritty gameplay, story and completely lose any semblance of fun, the whole reason video games took off.
They always seem to manage to keep them fresh even though its just technically a lick of paint here and there with a new story.
N.i.c.e judgement on my ps4 pro looks amazing.glad they're a sequel for this game.looks really cool.word up son
Another game to add to the want list. Day one buy without question.
Bout time time I jump on the first game now.
God, I hate those English dubs 🤣
I really feel that this generation of consoles could easily have been delayed until Christmas 2021. So many big releases covering the previous gen too.
omg this is great news , when i get a ps5 il look forward to this , the PlayStation 5 the console we cannot buy 😂
Oh God that english dub is terrible.
@LiamCroft If it looks this good i wont mind the story alone looks better then anything i have seen in a long time. East>>>>>>>>>West.
@__jamiie You want them to release a game for 8 million consoles and not everyone is buying the game either. Also the game looks fantastic so i dont really know whats the issue here?
I haven't played a single Yakuza game yet but need to rectify this. Judgement sounds like a good way to get into the series but I'm planning on playing the first one once I have a PS5. A sequel so soon? Just add another title to my growing pile of Want To Plays!
I think they should do us a favour and stop releasing any PS5 games until we all have a PS5. It's only fair.
😝
The best Yakuza game that never was...
Nice, at least judgement keeps the old style gameplay so I'll be looking forward to this one later this year will we get a demo beforehand I wonder?
@__jamiie To be fair, it's often like this when a console is a huge success. It stands out more now maybe due to backwards compatibility. Like, the SNES was getting games all through the PS1 generation - including huge releases like Chrono Trigger. Fire Emblem 5 came out on the SNES less than a year before the PS2 came out, crazily enough. I do know what you mean, though, I think the only game I've played on my PS5 that isn't also on PS4 is Demon's Souls.
@Matroska But there were no PS4 launch games that also came out on PS3. No PS3 launch games on PS2 etc. This will be almost a year after PS5 launch and the PS4 will still be getting the same games minus some fancy lighting and faster load times.
I'm so excited the sequel will also have an optional English Dub!
Still need to buy & play the first game, but this trailer was HYPE.
I absolutely love everything about the Yakuza series and Judgement is awesome too! Excited to play more, although first I need to play Like A Dragon.
