After a whole console generation of waiting, Mass Effect Legendary Edition is finally here — a fully remastered and party reworked collection of all three games in BioWare's original sci-fi trilogy. What a time to be alive!
Many an existing Mass Effect fan will no doubt have already had Legendary Edition pre-ordered, but we wonder whether this remastered package will pave the way for a new generation of Commander Shepard enthusiasts. After all, it's quite easy to forget that the first Mass Effect is now 14 years old.
So, have you grabbed a copy of Mass Effect Legendary Edition? Did you play the original trilogy? Have your say in our polls, and then give us your service record in the comments section below.

I might get it as my next long playthrough, after I finish the AC Odyssey DLC. Returnal and Demon’s Souls would work as backup games, that I can put a few hours into here and there.
I enjoyed these games on PS3, but there is too much to play in my list before replaying ME. I can wait until the price drops a lot or they're included on Plus.
I absolutely love these games, but £60 is a little rich for my tastes, especially with my current situation. If it was £40 I would have preordered in a heartbeat.
I want to play them but I got plenty to get on with. Playing Resident Evil Village but due to this covid jab making me tired ive switched to spiderman remastered.
I did start Andromeda before i got a PS5 but thats just off to the side now
It's Mass Effect looking and performing better than ever. Bought it in a heartbeat.
I tried the first one on PC back in the day and decided it wasn’t for me.
Yep, I'm a huge Mass Effect Fan
Although I will say, I would have been way more excited for this if it was released 3 years ago.
I played the originals for the first time not long ago. I'm going to wait until they come to gamepass before I give it a try. Controversial but for me, 2 and 3 have some amazing moments but never hit the high points story wise that 1 does.
Of course, waited an entire generation for this remaster lol. Got it downloaded but waiting until tomorrow to jump in!
Waiting for sale to buy this one. Not in a hurry to play it right now.
I'm honestly going to wait things out for just a bit and make sure that they patch any big bugs that might be a problem, and to read more reviews so I feel confidant that the game plays well on the basic PS4.
I absolutely bought it!
@Shaun_p
Heavens! Shopto and Base both had it for less than 50 notes.
Buying it as soon as the reviews state it's not too buggy and in a playable state! So hopefully in the next week
Was never that interested in MA plus after 3's ending I became even less interested if the whole story ends up in disappointment at the end ala GOT and Rise of Skywalker not really something I wanna invest in y'know.....plus all my time is currently being taken by Resident Evil Village
Tried it several years ago - didn't like it.
Was always a day one buy for me, opted to get it on Xbox though as for me it's a series I played on 360 and never really associated it with PS3. Nostalgia thing I guess.
Pre-Ordered from Gamestop. Usually games arrive the day before release, but they sent me a €10.00 voucher this morning because it won't be here until next week.
Kind of a relief though, I'm still playing Valhalla, Village and Returnal.
About an hour into Mass Effect 1 and brings back some great gaming memories. I've off for EVERY Platinum on each game and can't wait
I've played each game a dozen times over and already own them all 4 times so hell yeah I bought it. My most hyped release of the year too.
@Skywalker1080p well that is VERY tempting…thank you!
I’ve never played the originals but I’m curious (which is why I’m reading this article and comments). In my mind it’s like Galaxy Quest mixed with Dead Space.
I only had a PS3 until getting a PS5 in November so my backlog is real. Note to self: don’t skip a console generation again.
I’ll wait for them to go into EA play. I've beat 2 and 3 numerous times so wasn’t interested in buying them.
No, and I don't intend to either as I played and completed them already on 360.
Hell yeah. This is better than anything that's come out in the last few years.
No - they look great (90 Metacritic is impressive). But super hard for me to play games I already know how the story ends.
I rarely play games over. Even less if an RPG that takes time to finish.
I have them on PC - that is good enough.
No . But that's only because I'm at a point that I don't play single-player games much anymore by choice . I rather play multiplayer PvP games . If this had came out i'd say about 4-5 years ago when I was 18/19 i'd be on it. One of the greatest single-player experiences i've ever seen imo ; it just came too late .
Played all three way back when I had an Xbox 360 and as much as I loved them I just don’t really have the appetite to replay them. If they were perhaps full on remakes I’d maybe give it a go. Knights of the Old Republic on the other hand...
Thought it was great on 360/PS3 but can't see myself going through it again. For those experiencing for the first time though exciting times!
Waited long enough I’ll wait for it to join EA play or whatever it’s called now
I think I played the 1st one from playstation plus on ps3 didn't really progress that much in the game I might try this collection later in a sale when the price is right, it's lot of commitment because of how long these games are.
It's unquestionably my favorite Western RPG series and the most ambitious trilogy we will likely ever see in our lifetimes so yup it was an instant buy. Can't wait to don the N7 armor again tonight!
I went for Subnautica first. So far no regrets!
@Shaun_p £60? I take it that's GAME's price? I got it for £50 from Simply Games and as a nice bonus it came a day early.
Edit: Just noticed someone else already pointed out some places you can get it for £50. But yeah, always look at places like Base, Shopto, Simply Games and The Game Collection. 👍
Played 2 and 3 yo death, but never got the chance to play the first game. Installing as we speak!
Never really got these games. I played the first one for a few hours on PC, then tried 2 but got bored after about 10 hours. Go to world, do some bland cover based shooting stuff, get some story, rinse repeat. Just not my thing. I can’t deny their popularity though.
Yep, got it. Used the trade in money for Returnal. Also, is it me or has her ass crack got more 'defined' in 4K?
Big. Fat. Yes.
To those of you saying you're waiting for a sale, these are 3 of the best AAA games ever made with the best Science Fiction story in all of gaming. For $20 each. The way I look at it, they're already on sale, and priced to move!
I'll pick it up in a sale a few years down the road, probably. It's not a priority for me. But I would like to experience the third game at some point, and the original was fantastic, so I'll definitely enjoy revisiting that.
Chillin down and hyping up with its soundtracks while those damn 101 GB download
Probably not, honestly. There’s too many new games worth to checking out to return to these admittedly fantastic games at the moment. Love the series, don’t get me wrong, but I’ve played through the trilogy twice, and I’d simply rather have a new experience.
yes i brought it my favourite games of all time.
Yup already bought it, I can't wait to platinum them all. I'm a bit curious about ME1 as the first time I played it I had a miserable experience with spending most of the game either in the Mako or in the elevator, I'll give it another chance this time.
A friend has always spoken very highly of them, as he played them on 360. I've never been that into RPGs, and only played the third on PS3. Didn't rate it, and have no interest in playing the others.
374 gamers haven't played Mass Effect?
Must have been playing with Wilson on a desert island of something?
I preordered it from amazon, so with my prime two day shipping it should be here in a week or two.
I didn't because my friend that I game share with bought it but I would have
I never played Mass effect before, spend an hour playing this today, story is beginning to reel me in.
Played all 3. Loved 2 the most.
I don't replay games so remasters don't interest me at all, except for Tony Hawk!
Played the first 3 or 4 hours of Mass Effect 3 on the Wii U of all things, but stopped as I wanted to start from the first game. Didn’t end up happening. BUT, if they release a PS5 update, I’ll pick it up as soon as it dips to around £40 on sale. Unless my backlog dries up, which I highly, highly doubt!
More interested in a new Mass Effect game, tbh
@JohnnyShoulder How long ago? There may be alot you've forgotten if you played them when they came out, up to 14 years ago
Not until it's £30 or less. To me £50 is asking too much for 3 games from 2 gens ago that have only been slightly touched up when there are new exciting games worth saving out for.
@Gavin_Newsom I was a bit late getting a 360, so i would have possibly played them in the last 2 years of that gen. I generally do not got back to games I've previously played, as I rather play games I've not experienced before. It would have to be a special game for me to pick up a remastered version of something I've played before, something like Metal Gear Solid, Dark Souls or FFVII. I thought the Mass Effect games were good, but not outstanding so are not that special for me.
Interesting that the numbers are about the same as Returnal so far - about 50% of pollers.
And hell yeah I bought it
Definitely getting some noticeable stuttering and FPS drops on Ps5. Some glitching out when near tight quartered areas as well. No crashes yet. Hopefully it’s patched soon.
As much as I love mass effect, I doubt I'll invest. I can't warrant spending £50 on a game that's a few gens old and looks worn. "Remaster" it as much as they like, the AI and gameplay will mostly be the same. Personally rather use my cash for newer experiences.
It's blowing my mind how good the first game looks on PS5.
I hope the people that didn’t play the originals are the ones buying now cause the first two were really good. 32% not playing the originals seem high.🤷♂️
I have the original games on Xbox 360 but I never played them. After the release of this collection, I'll just wait until it goes on sale and play it on my PS5. I went this long without playing any of them so I can wait a little longer to play the best version of these games at a discount.
Yes I did. The game looks beautiful on PS5 and like before the Title Screen music to the first game just hypnotises me almost.
@Tecton217 Weird haven't had any of those issues at all.
I played the trilogy collection on PS3 years ago and just bought the Legendary collection on PS4. Started with ME1 and it’s taken some adjustment to get used to the gameplay - the upgrade menus in particular feel ancient and quite confusing at first. I couldn’t find a controller map in the settings either, which seems like an odd omission. But after an hour or so everything seemed to click and I’m enjoying it a lot.
Waiting for a sale, EA games drop fast. I predict this will be $30-$35 by Black Friday, if not cheaper.
Buying big-ridden EA abortions makes you part of the problem.
and guess what another buggy game from EA After the buggy ness of Andromeda i swore to myself i would never buy a new game again. I did and this is the price you pay on PlayStation dolby digial speech comes out of rear speakers and on xbox wirless headsets mean you cant start the game.
do I never learn and does EA never learn
No PS5 native version is a big downer for me personally.
I've played the originals recently enough, so had little interest. I bet this would have been a much better experience, though.
I will get it, but the pile of shame is huge. So paying full price for a game to go unplayed for 6 months.. Or longer is silly.
Day 1 is saved for my God tier games now.
Day 1 gamesfor me is usually fallout and mass effect thats it.
I'm in no rush to buy it. Played it before and the upgrade doesn't look like it'll blow my socks off so I'll just wait till it's really cheap.
Calling it now: This will eventually be released for PS5/ XBSX.
@Don not 100% sure on that. It already hits 120fps on Series X through the performance mode setting and that's at 1440p. I don't think it would be worth their time to do a native ps5 version, they would be better off waiting to see if Sony ever improve their backwards compatability support.
Look at Command and Conquer Remastered. We never got a console version of that, and it's been nearly a year now. They were games that I fondly remember from my ps1 days. I think EA"s strategy concerning remasters is to get it spot on, then move on.
I will most likely buy this tonight, as it is only £53.99 on Game Pass ( through EA Play) and Microsoft are offering 6000 reward points if you buy it during may which is worth just over a fiver.
Played a couple of them way back, but really want to concentrate on other games at the moment. Might pick it up some time in the future though.
Hi there fellow gamers.
I´m buying it next monday (low on money and such), but I can´t wait to go back to the Citadel and see my old crew again.
Having played the trilogy six times (3 on Xbox 360 and 3 on PS3) some years ago, its gonna be fun experience again one of my favourite gaming sagas of all time.
And for those who are getting it for the very first time, you are in for a awesome treat I´ll tell you.
Cheers, stay safe and happy gaming to us all
nah all good thanks.
Not my type of game??
I would rather replay the trilogy than most games that come out today
First time playing Mass Effect and now 15 hrs in the first one. Absolutely wonderful experience! Now I understand why Bioware was held in such high esteem.
where can i vote:
i’ll buy it as soon as i get my hands on a frickin PS5!
Damn you, scalpers! I will sit it out! You hear me!!?? You will not get a single cent from me!
Not buying any PS-games since November
