You can’t move for Demon Slayer merchandise in Asia, and SEGA will be hoping that CyberConnect2’s video game adaptation captures some of that magic in the West when Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Hinokami Chronicles launches on 15th October. In addition to the standard $59.99 release, there’ll also be a $69.99 Digital Deluxe Edition, which will be available earlier – from 13th October – and includes a slew of in-game extras.
“Follow Tanjiro through the story from the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba anime as he faces demons in order to turn his sister Nezuko, who has become a demon, back into a human,” the press release reads. You’ll be able to choose between English and Japanese voiceovers, with the original cast from the anime reprising their roles. There’s a trailer embedded above which should give you a better idea of what to expect.

The anime is really great (haven't read the manga yet) but it's a shame that the best they could go for is a simple 3D-fighter "à la Naruto Ultimate Storm", especially after good adaptations of animes like DBZ : Kakarot, Fairy Tail and One Piece : Unlimited World Red
Bandai/Namco really needs to understand that adventure games (with RPG mechanices) are a lot more enjoyable as anime adaptation than 3D-fighters...
Correction : It's not Bandai/Namco but SEGA (thx @Strawhatcrew )
We all should practice our water breathing technique.
Predicting that this game will get a 6 or a 7 (typical for most anime fighters, esp its first entry) but hopefully its fanbase will make it sell well at least.
@Olmaz
I think it's CyberConnect2 and Sega, not BamCo.
Oh, I thought Namco would be handling this. Not that it really matters. It does look nice however. Since Sega has it I kinda want to see some sort of crossover with Fist of the North Star now. 😂
I'm glad to see an anime like this getting so much penetration in the western market and hopefully opening up a new generation to the medium. I just wish I could get into it.
@strawhatcrew My bad, I'm so used to CyberConnect2 working with Bandai/Namco for anime adaptation my brain didn't even see SEGA in the article!
It doesn't change anything in my views that 3D-fighters like that are not the best way to adapt an anime, especially one like Demon Slayer...
I wasn't expecting much, but this actually looks pretty good! Great presentation, and the 3D arena fighting format looks like it fits well with this IP.
I never buy these licensed anime games, but I might make an exception for this.
@Enuo Anime is pretty mainstream these days. ESPECIALLY for digital natives born in the 2000s.
I can't wait I'm soooooooooo stoked I love this anime so much and as a huge Naruto fan I adore and spent endless hours playing the Ultimate Ninja and Ultimate Ninja Storm games so this is perfect for me 😁 (sigh) I really wish Fairy Tail got the Storm treatment 😭
@Olmaz haven't played naruto games so don't know what they are like but just watched this from ign and it doesn't look like a fighter to me

@UltimateOtaku91 Oh believe me, it is!
And they're fine, I guess, the first Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm came out on PS3 in 2008, and at that time it looked and played very well, but 13 years have passed.
What you're seeing is "adventure mode", which ends up being a succession of : cutscenes (more or less well done, depending on the budget), very basic exploration (restricted empty zone or corridors), mostly boring mini-games and then the crux of the game : arena fights.
These arena fights are in 3D, with limited combo techniques and controls identical for all characters. You can see this kind of adaptation in a lot of anime games (Naruto, Saint Seiya, Jojo, 7 Deadly Sins, Kill La Kill, My Hero Academia and even DBZ which offers flying on top of the rest of the mechanics).
Demon Slayer has a great story, and fantastic character progression, a semi-open world adventure game with RPG mechanics would have been a much better idea imo.
This looks like it could have a fun story mode but knowing the naruto storm games, it'll get worse with each entry
Which sucks cause right now the actual roster is terrible. They went as far as the mugen train arc but didn't even think to include any demons as playable characters. At least going by the trailers? Yet they added in a literal who that only appeared for like 2 scenes. Pretty dumb
Visually it looks lovely, nails the look of the series! Ultimately I’m not sure I’ll play the game just for the sake of replaying the plot, so hopefully there’ll be a little more to it.
Looks better than I expected.
Didn't CyberConnect2 also do DBZ Kakarot and Naruto Ultimate Storm trilogy? If so, they were fairly decent games as far as anime adaptations go anyway.
I'll wait for reviews, but if it get's a 7/10 I'll probably have to buy this due to being a massive Demon Slayer fan. lol
The anime series is fantastic and cant wait for season 2 ,I was a bit disappointed in the movie ,it was great, however I think I was expecting more after it breaking box office records.
@Olmaz Yes, this is a cheap cash in. A semi-open world game custom made for Demon Slayer would be fantastic. It needs a real game, not this junk.
I know Sony want to make games that have a more global appeal but considering Demon Slayer has been the new star anime you'd think they would want to take advantage of that and produce a full on game as an exclusive.
It looks quite nice i thought it was a run of the mill game it looks good though so maybe im wrong lets hope its a good one.
@bimboliquido There's a sequel film, I believe it can be watched on Funimation's paid streaming service.
