Developer Remedy and publisher 505 Games have today announced plans to make a multiplayer title set in the Control universe. With the codename of Condor, it will be a PvE experience based around four players. Details are, admittedly, scarce – although the Finnish firm did share a piece of concept art outlining what it expects the release to be like:
“We get that there is going to be scepticism about multiplayer,” said series director Mikael Kasurinen. “But I believe we can create shared experiences without compromising the unique DNA of who we are, or the stories we want to tell. Yes, we need to re-think our angles, our techniques, our mindset, but we see it as an exciting challenge: what would a Remedy multiplayer game look like?” A fascinating question.
Of course, there’s much more in the pipeline for the Control franchise. “We have more,” Kasurinen teased, before confirming that his team are in the preliminary stages of expanding “the Control franchise with a bigger-budget Control game”. The developer wouldn’t be drawn on more details, but described it as “ambitious” and said he’s “extremely excited” for the future of the franchise.
“Building games takes years,” he continued. “Establishing the right partnerships is crucial in order to form the right foundation, both financially, creatively, and from a technological standpoint. Rest assured, we want to build on the very foundation of Control and the success it had, thanks to you.”
Lots of big news in the Finnish games industry today! Earlier on, you may have heard that a certain Helsinki studio was added to the PlayStation Studios roster.

Dr. Casper Darling is my main.
Definitely up for a sequel, doubt it’ll bother with the MP though.
I quite liked Control. Sort of, despite the myriad of technical issues and save corruption and stuff. Not sure about multiplayer though, just an odd one.
didnt particularly like control their worst game in a while
Love the first game, so good news to me regarding a sequel. A pve mode though, idk.
I just started playing this a few days ago!! Totally hooked and love it! It’s a shame it had technical issues that gave casual onlookers like myself skepticism about it!
No interest in a MP mode but its good to know a sequel is in the works
Hopefully it’ll just be a crazy *****-show like Half Life 2: Deathmatch. I’m in…
MP... Ugh!
Just bring the skin to Fortnite and make another SP game 😬
I'm not a multiplayer guy but, dare I say it, I think I'm up for this. Loved Control, and flying about flinging debris at each other really sounds like fun. That said, I'm much more excited by the idea of proper sequel
I cant wait for more of this game. Not sure how I feel about a multiplayer component. That being said it could work out it was basicaly Ghostbusters lol of you went around having to find the werid possessed items but made the boss fights more challenging it could be a cool add on .
Control is a great game. I played on a base PS4 where it definitely had performance issues but it was just about playable. I quite liked the odd universe it lived in and it would be great to see more of that. It’ll be interesting to see how they can work multiplayer into that.
Very much interested in the sequel. Not so if at all into multiplayer spin off.
Somebody say multiplayer ?
Im down .
Wish the bigger budget was for multiplayer though .
That picture makes me think...
Homer Simpson sleeps nude in an oxygen tent which he believes gives him sexual powers
Only grudge I have with 505, is that they locked the PS5 version of the game under Ultimate edition. I bought the standard edition just one week before they announced this. Now I’m stuck playing this game at 30fps on PS5 and it sucks
Down for a sequel to Control, but a hard pass on the mp part.
Imagining a team of agents (players) working together to take down the Hiss isn’t a huge jump from the main game, lore wise… And if we actually get a campaign and not just multiplayer maps, I’m definitely in. But please give us more weapon/power variety, and more unique enemies.
Woohoo sequel!!
This reminds me that I still need to finish this game... I only played an hour and half of it around release cause it came free with my 2070S at the time.
@trev666 Yeah, I wasn't keen on it myself.
Couldn't care less about a Multiplayer thing, but def here for a bigger Control sequel
Control was brilliantly written and subtly disturbing. Wonder whether we'll see the agents out in the wider world, hunting down Objects of Power, in the sequel. Part of what made the Bureau a powerful setting was its closed-in feel, but I did find its oppressiveness off-putting at times.
Skepticism about multiplayer is inevitable, but from the sounds of a 4 players PvE game, it sounds like it could be similar to Ghost of Tsushima Legends which was great. A game with great, satisfying gameplay having a PvE sounds great. On the other hand though, Legends was a free update, while this will be standalone I presume. So they've probably got a uphill battle.
I honestly can't get interested in Control, I've played for a while and just got really bored
Not big on Multiplayer. But Loved Control - super excited for sequel.
Just fix the map for one that's actually usable and I'll be able to find where I'm supposed to be going, ta very much.
I enjoyed a few hours of the game but can't find where I'm going! Such a poor design choice imo
Would love a sequel and a remaster of Alan Wake on PS5. Thank you!
Control is one of the best games on PS4. Definitely top 10, BUT I want an Alan Wake sequel before a Control sequel… unless, of course, they are the same sequel
Take a good look on Ghost of Tsushimas multiplayer and one should know how to create a fun and exciting multiplayer game. Would love to dive into the Remedsverse again. And please let Poets of the Fall (aka Old Gods of Asgard) contribute some songs to the game oh and bring back Ahti.. Controls best character!
expanding “the Control franchise with a bigger-budget Control game”
I'm not sure I'm ok with that. The limited scope, the claustrophobic feeling, the repetitive decorum of Control are very important facets of this game that made me love it.
Control is really one of the best game of these last years (I wouldn't say of last gen, as the PS5 version is really the one to play) but I'd be happy with the game being a one-shot.
Not interested in multiplayer at all but the sequel I am very interested in.
I was very impressed with the PS5 version and can't wait for the sequel, I will however avoid the MP game at all cost.
How about fixing the "Put a Record" mission bug Remedy?
Truly annoying that I have a Mission I can't complete because going to the Jukebox doesn't send me on the mission like it should - only send me to the challenges menu.
I’ll take anything in the Control Universe. It’s my favorite game I’ve played this year.
Absolutely loved Control, and welcome more of it regardless of format
4 player co-op is the new open-world game. Is the a result of pandemic psychology and the kinds of games people think we want to play? The breakout success of Among Us? I’m really baffled..
@Olmaz You’re a stronger person than I! I agree there is a completeness to the package played in full with the DLC that doesn’t really leave me wanting more, besides a play through on better hardware than a base PS4.
All that said, with a clean enough break... the idea of walking into Faden’s office and picking up the Service Weapon off her dead body would be an exhilarating sequel.
Adding my voice to the “would skip multiplayer, would absolutely dive headfirst into a sequel”. Control was one of my favourite games in recent memory, having platinumed it twice (and the PS5 Ultimate Edition is the way to experience it). If there’s more in the same theme I’d definitely be on board!
I'm definitely more excited for the sequel than the multiplayer project...but first we need PS4/PS5 remasters of both Alan Wake and Quantum Break!
I love Remedy so much that I cant wait to see their next game.
Alan Wake, Max Payne 1 & 2, Control and Quantum Break are just great.
The way they connect is just awesome.
Fantastic game. I'd love to know what happened to Darling.
