Was Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin not edgy enough for you? How about Soulstice, then, a new fantasy RPG from publisher Modus Games and developer Reply Game Studios. The game’s scheduled to release next year on PlayStation 5, and will feature two sisters – one turned into a ghoul, we should add – with superhuman strength and mystical powers. Stefanie Joosten of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain fame will provide the voices.
“Manage both characters simultaneously,” the blurb reads. “Briar masters melee attacks and combos, while Lute controls the battlefield with her otherworldly abilities. Combine their strengths to unlock powerful transformations and fulfil their true potential as a Chimera.” It actually looks and sounds pretty good – there’s a gameplay trailer embedded above.

It looks like a ton of fun, but me personally, im already getting sick of seeing the black-and-white washed-out grimdark aesthetic. I really hope this isn't where gaming's going because I already miss colors.
Looks fun. Can't wait to see more.
@Brydontk I’d take black and white over that weird 2007 sepia tone. Everything was so brown!
looks good but that character shaking when they get hit is not my thing. I hope this is not in the final game.
If she just hums throughout the entire game. I’m in. Haha.
Combat looks fun, soundtrack for the trailer is a no from me.
I was hoping we'd get more big fantasy games this gen.
Salt & Sanctuary, Hades, Elden Ring are all looking incredible.
This, Babylon's Fall and FF Origins all look like they're from a different era. Not in a good way either. Hopefully I'm wrong and they all turn out to be solid experiences...
@nessisonett Ahhh the PS3 era. Glad those muddy screen days are behind us
This looks fantastic. 😁
@Shepherd_Tallon recently picked up salt and sanctuary again, for a coop run with a mate, and got totally hooked! Can't wait for Hades to drop, either. Funny how the 2d indie games are killing it, while lots of other, bigger, titles look a bit stuck in the past!
@Steel76 Doesn't look like souls to me. More like Devil May Cry or Astral Chain. A bit generic looking, but might be a fun diversion.
@J2theEzzo Salt and Sanctuary is great. I enjoyed it every bit as much as Dark Souls. Made by two people I think? Amazing.
I know nothing about Hades other than everyone loves it, so I'll happily jump in to that blind in August.
But you're right - This E3 it's been two indies that have me excited. Plus Elden Ring obviously.
@Brydontk I was playing the first Killzone recently and it feels like they must have essentially started that trend given it was on PS2. I really don’t miss that era of gaming!
Fantasy RPG? This looks exactly like Devil May Cry, which I thought was a hack and slash? I thought stuff like Dragon Age is a fantasy RPG?
Seems to look better than whatever Babylon's Fall has become.
@Shepherd_Tallon managed to play it on a friend's PC (with a controller, thankfully!) and the action and gameplay loop are absolutely on point! Picked up the dead cells spinoff 'curse of the dead gods' in the recent sale, which plays very similarly- but with a few tweaks, if you're curious.
@J2theEzzo I had heard good things about Dead Cells too, but never got around to it. I still need to finish Blaspehmous. Although I'll probably just restart it at this point.
Nobody seems to mention but I feel this got Berserk vibes all over it.
Maybe it was inspired by Berserk?
