Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake will not be making an appearance during the Ubisoft Forward livestream later this week, the development team has confirmed. The news was shared as part of an update on Twitter, which also stated the PlayStation 4 title is now slated to release at some point next year. The game was originally delayed indefinitely, and now we know to expect it in 2022.
The post reads: "As you might have already heard, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake will not be in Ubisoft Forward. We are making great progress for our game to release next year, but we are not ready to share any additional information just yet. We will share an update as soon as we are ready."
Ever since its initial reveal last year, the project has been criticised for, well, not looking particularly good. Let's hope these delays and decisions to stay quiet result in a much better-looking product at the end of it all next year. For what you can look forward to at Ubisoft Forward, Far Cry 6 is expected alongside some surprises. If you need more information, check out our E3 2021 Timetable through the link.

Either this looks completely different or gets cancelled. I think they realized that it looked terrible and would do more harm than good if they released it. I honestly think there's a chance that Ubisoft will cann the entire project if it doesn't look good enough. This big delay is probably due to the backlash. I would not be surprised to see this new studio dispersed before they even release their first game, which I'd be glad for if it doesn't look like an entirely new game.
I never really thought it looked bad. The internet seemed to create a new problem where one didn't exist. But hearing Ubisoft say "we're delaying a game instead of releasing a half baked completely broken game that will be fixed in a year or so, probably" is something I won't wish away. They make great games that always feel incomplete for years. They'd look much better going back to tighter releases they used to have 15 years ago.
A remake delayed by a whole year at least. Sounds like they went back to the drawing board on this one after the initial reveal.
Remakes are so yawn 🥱
Its one of the most beloved games of the OG console generations, so im glad they are taking the time to hopefully give it the attention and polish it deserves and needed.
Glad they are taking their time. If I remember correctly this is being led by a newer team within Ubisoft so I can imagine they feel some pressure to make sure this comes out looking good. It would be nice if this works out well to maybe see Ubisoft give the team a chance to make an all new POP game.
@Korgon Same here, seriously hoping the game still releases but is also given much love.
Eh it’s Ubisoft don’t have high expectations.
What about that other they started teasing at least 10 years ago (a sequel to a game from PS2 era - can't even remember its name)?
I don't think it has even been released yet (now I remember - Beyond Good and Evil 2, I think).
I hope for them, to release it. I pre-ordered this last year with a 9,99 deal at GameStop. I gave away another game for this.
eh, i don't think enough people care about this anymore. certainly, ubisoft doesn't care about it so why should we? a medicore remaster is not going to do anything positive for this once great IP (now dead) so why even bother if you aren't going to do it right?
Well, I skip Ubisoft for more than one year, already
Remember people it was meant to what come out in Jan this year? The fact we don't even know when its coming out now is pretty worrying.
Reminder that this game is being developed in India, which is one of the places hit the hardest by Covid. Glad they delayed it to fix everything, but it will take a while, because they are still kinda going through hell with all that right now.
"Apologies, we need extra time for microtransactions, loot boxes, Pay 2 win exclusives and so much more. Thank you for your patience".
@Porco if I was to guess it’s so this new dev team can cut their teeth on this project and get a lot of experience. While ensuring it’ll sell better (based on name recognition) than whatever other project they would’ve been working on.
They’ll probably put out a decent game, no RE2-quality remake.

I honestly thought it looked alright. Not great, but alright. The character models were the main problems and surely that would take less to fix.
Thank God they are taking time to give this timeless classic the remake it deserves. It was looking hideous, which is not acceptable for one of the most beautifully designed games for its time.
A lot of pressure on Ubisoft, I would guess, since some of the classic remakes like RE2 and FF7 knocked it out of the park. Show up big or don’t show up at all.
