A new version of Rocksmith is “coming soon” to PlayStation 5 and PS4, with a smartphone app allowing you to play without any cables to your console. While you will still be able to plug in if you prefer, your mobile device will effectively turn into a recorder, reading either your acoustic or electric guitar and scoring you appropriately.
This is subscription-based, with an ever-growing list of songs and an entire community feature that will allow you to learn alongside others. Obviously, this is niche, but if you’re planning to learn either guitar or bass, it looks like a brilliant tool. You can slow down songs, loop riffs, and all sorts to nail tricky parts. We wish we had this at high school!

I am interested, mildly, but interested none the less
This is awesome!!! I LOVE Rocksmith and this is a great idea.
Rocksmith is an amazing teaching tool.
If Ring Fit on Switch is anything to go by, turning non-gaming activities into games can really make them alluring to someone like me. I never got around to really devoting myself to learning guitar while in lockdown (piano took the cake then), but this may be right up my alley! The subscription base is a definite turn-off though, I’d much rather just pay a one-time fee and be done with it.
Can’t wait for this to supplement my playing, I’ve been hoping for a console version and now it’s on its way. It’s no Mario+Rabbids though 😉
I still have enjoyment from Rocksmith Remastered and have been waiting for this. Not sure I'll get it for the PS, though. Also, we'll have to see how the subscription works out. And whether we can still use songs already bought as DLC.
@munkholt I agree. I have such a huge collection of songs on RS2014. If they don't let me port those purchases over somehow, then what's the point in RS+ for someone like me?
A little disappointing that they are going the subscription route too. One of the best things about RS was that the DLC was very fair. You knew exactly what you were getting and for a fair price considering the work that went into transcribing the songs, and if you didn't like the songs then you could skip that week's releases. Have to see what the prices are like before I will know whether I can fit another subscription into my life.
