Just over six months since its original PlayStation 4 release, Little Nightmares II has announced its native PS5 version will be available starting today. Dubbed Little Nightmares II: Enhanced Edition, current owners receive a free upgrade and gain access to two different modes: one runs at 30 frames-per-second with a 4K resolution and ray tracing while the other opts for 60 frames-per-second with a dynamic resolution and ray tracing. Rather interestingly, it looks like Until Dawn developer Supermassive Games helped get the Enhanced Edition ported to PS5.
Alongside the two graphical options, Little Nightmares II on PS5 also has "ray-traced reflections, increased volumetric shadows and particles, improved loading times and a new immersive 3D soundscape mix when using a 5.1 / 7.1 audio system". According to a PlayStation Blog post, these enhancements have had the biggest impact on the Hospital chapter. Associate producer Coralie Feniello explains: "In the Hospital, we quickly decided to try to add ray-traced, real time reflections on the ground of all the indoor environments. This made the Hospital corridors come to life and reinforce the desired feeling of uneasiness while discovering its not-so-friendly residents."
The game sold more than one million copies in its first month on the market, and now those owners can enjoy an even better experience on PS5. Are you up for a Little Nightmares II replay? Let us know in the comments below.

Sweet very welcome
Cool cool. Being that the hospital is by far the most maddening section in the game, at least you'll have something pretty to look at while you resist the urge to throw your controller.
Jokes aside, I look forward to trying this version eventually.
Sweet! I was waiting for the native ps5 version to drop before diving in.
Wait, nothing involving Haptic Feedback or Adaptive Triggers though? I'm very concerned that these controller features are considered 'gimmicks' for non-PS exclusive titles 😕
@Broosh I remember Sammy commenting in the review that the trigger controls were already so tiring he hoped they didn't add adaptive triggers. Maybe the devs sensed this themselves. There was quite a lot of trigger holding. Nothing that would have prevented haptics I guess, though I'm not sure how much you could do with this game in that regard.
This game is perfect for RayTracing. But already done... hopefully for the next one soon
It's too soon for a replay but a nice update none the less. Great game and an easy Platinum also. Highly recommend If you haven't played it.
LOL I stop playing this for like two months and resumed just this week...and now it has an upgrade D: and I already left the hospital!
Is the "new immersive 3D soundscape mix when using a 5.1 / 7.1 audio system" actually using the PS5's own Tempest 3D Audio, or is it the game's own binaural 3D soundscape?
(my understanding of the text makes me think it's the latter)
Does that mean I must set the 3D Audio to "off" in the settings to get a good sound?
@zupertramp I could see from the fatigue aspect, which is why the games with adaptive triggers support also allow you to disable them...really in this game's case, the haptic feedback would be very welcome.
@Broosh that's very very true. if added, one could always turn them off. guess we'll see if it goes the way of the sixaxis.
My favourite thing about having an utterly ludicrous backlog is that the games I've bought but never played keep getting upgraded for PS5.
$30 is not worth a short game. I will wait till it's $10. It takes 8 hours max to beat 6 and a half on a speed run. Games like this I could see maybe $20 maybe but a $15 price point is good.
@Broosh Jeez dude we've literally seen
so many other games besides ps exclusives(RE8, Plague Tale, Warframe, Doom Eternal, Metro Exodus) put it in pretty well but the moment a couple like LN2 decide to not put it in now it's all doomed?
@Don_Corleone 8 hours and the experience you get out of it is pretty good for 30$. It's a horror game where pacing and length are important. You have it play out for too long and you're just dragging it out and it's not scary anymore.
This is great, bought it at launch and haven’t played it yet. Studio’s big and small are doing this for free, makes Sony look cheap.
@Nepp67 I'm not saying the PS5 features are doomed as a whole lol I'm just saying I hope more third party PS5 ports look to utilize the full capacity of the remote (or at least partial support) instead of just boosting the game's resolution and FPS and calling it a day. It would help persuade Series S/X or PC owners opt for the PS5 ports as well.
@Don_Corleone Same thoughts here, will be waiting for a $15 sale or cheaper.
