This is it, then: the final character in Street Fighter V’s fifth season. Due out in November, kickboxer Luke is being pitched as “a glimpse into the future” of the prestigious fighting game franchise. Maybe we’re reading too deeply into the comments, but it sounds to us like this appearance could merely be a warm-up for the newcomer.
The trailer shows off some gameplay, in which we see the buff blondie launching a handful of Shoryukens – and also tossing what look like energy beams across the screen. But Capcom is keeping additional details close to its chest for the time being, with its attention primarily focused on Rival Schools returnee Akira Kazama and Street Fighter III’s Oro – they’ll both be available on 16th August.
If you still haven’t got into Street Fighter V, then a free trial is available from today through 18th August which will allow you to play as all of the characters from the previous four seasons. That’s a full two weeks to test out almost all of the content in the five-year-old fighter. The company’s also discounted virtually all of the DLC in the game, so hit up the PS Store and see what takes your fancy.

Is this something like Guile’s son from the future?
He looks alright but keeping him under wraps for one year fueled all kinds of speculations and a lot of people is going to be disappointed he isn’t a guest character from another series.
People were disappointed that it wasn’t a guest SNK character but I kept my expectations in check. Looks like a fun character to use. Excited to try out the characters coming out on the 16th.
Blonde Fighter V continues.
lol SF6 can't come soon enough can it ?
I reckon he's a major character for SFVI
I wonder if him and Ed are being set up to be the new Ryu and Ken?
@nessisonett Which Would Suck Considering What They Did To Sean.
@Areus Yeah but 5 is a prequel to 3 so it wouldn’t really make sense to have Sean be a fighter yet. Not that making sense has stopped them before. Poor Sean though, I agree that he’s been hard done by.
It's kind of sad to see SFV nearing it's end. I know people were disappointed in it but I am on the complete opposite side of the spectrum. I loved it and it provided many hours of entertainment for me on PS4. Did it have problems? Sure but at the end of the day it was a great game that just released a little too early is all.
I'm sure this character is probably going to be a major player in SF6. It's going to be weird going to a new SF after playing V for so long. That said I'm looking forward to it and the rest of the cast in SFVs last season.
Luke is Duke Nukem without the shades. Very original.
@nessisonett I Meant For The Next Game We Don't Know If Street Fight 6 Is Another Prequel Or Post Street Fighter 3.
2 dogtags, eh? Guy looks generic as all hell, but his moveset looks interesting. That said, I mained Decapre in USF4, and want her back
for a rocky start sf5 turned into a pretty good game , all that is left is an update for a ps5 upgrade, i don't think it will happen , but i can still wish.
@Feena maybe Charlie's?
Cant wait for the complete SFV edition if they release it on a disc for once and not a cheap code version.
@PhhhCough could be!
@Flaming_Kaiser Maybe a ps5 version?
That's a pretty generic looking character right there.
i haven't been really into street fighter since the 2nd one.still got that snes cartridge today. also got it on the capcom greatest hits on ps2 the full arcade version.
Wonder if we'll see Super Street Fighter V for PS5 soon?
His gameplay looks potentially fun but his design is pretty meh. Feels like a bit of a letdown for the final character but I'm not honestly surprised it wasn't a guest character. SF has never had a guest character from another company in a proper SF game and there's no reason to believe that will change.
Lots of speculation that Luke will be the protagonist of 6, like Alex was 3, etc. I mean, whatever. A lot of the comments about blonde fighter are not wrong!
Looks like someone fused Yoshikage Kira and his stand Killer Queen into one.
Honestly not the most exciting "final pick" for the consumers, but I'm sure the development team on SF6 is filled with joy.
Other than being ANOTHER blonde blue eye white guy i think hes pretty cool, love his moves etc. Its really got me thinking what clues he brings to what sf6 could be.
The dog tags and stars n stripes tattoo and even the hair make me think he could be guiles son and it kinda makes sense that guiles son could be the new main protagonist of sf6, that just works, i think most people would except that.
Now... The interesting thing is his age. Hes old enough that it makes me think that capcom might actually (FINALLY) be moving forward into the future in the sf story line. Will we finally see an older wiser ryu and crew!! Thatd be awesome!
Now the thing i DONT like is that his design suggests that the art style for sf6 will just be the same as sf5, i was hoping itd be something fresh and new and preferably a bit more on the mature, cinematic side (like the alpha, generations animes) a bit more serious.
Personally ive had enough of sf being ultra goofy and its been around long enough i think its time its shown some respect, theres always room for a bit of humor but the whole game is just a big goof fest. I always think to the scene of ryu and sagat facing down in the field with thunder and lightning crashing and cinematic orchestrated score making it intense af!
Thats what ive always wished for. But i fear it will probably just be more of the same. Though without that lovable goofball ono around there may be hope.
I like Tekken & mortal Kombat I couldn't get into street fighter though , cool they're adding a character with the same name as me👍🏻
Must say... he looks over designed.
Reminds me of Shun'hei from KoF that suffers from the same problem.
I am still hoping for the day where we have modern day Asura in Street Fighter. That Epilogue in Asura's Wrath was a tease.
