The Battlefield 2042 open beta will finally get underway next week, EA has confirmed. Availability depends entirely on whether you have pre-ordered the game or have an active EA Play membership, but everyone will eventually gain access to the ability to play the Conquest mode on new map Orbital. The trailer above sets the scene ahead of the beta.
Battlefield 2042's pre-release test begins on 6th October 2021 and runs through until 9th October 2021, with pre-load available the day before launch. If you have pre-ordered the game or are currently subscribed to EA Play, you will gain access on the first day: 6th October 2021. Everyone else will be able to play the open beta for two days, from 8th October 2021. Four of the full game's Specialists can be played as during the beta: Webster Mackay, Maria Falck, Pyotr "Boris" Guskovsky, and Wikus "Casper" Van Daele. On PS5, the Conquest mode will support 128 players.
"During the Open Beta our intent is to provide you with the kind of experience where you can focus on enjoying the sandbox. That means that we’ve made some adjustments to systems and features you’ll otherwise encounter in the full game, so you’ll find that we’ve pre-unlocked a wide selection of hardware (weapons, vehicles and gadgets) for you, and let you make the most of the time you’ll have with the Open Beta."
We'll be sure to share your impressions of the Battlefield 2042 open beta here on the site, and we're sure you'll be interested in doing so too after experiencing what EA DICE has put together. Will you be taking the game for a spin? Let us know in the comments below.

4 days of Beta access sounds sweet to me
Damnit. I'm on vacation most of that time. Will only be able to play the evening of the 8th and then will have to catch up by playing most of the 9th. But my download will probably take up most of the time I'll have access to my PS5 on the 8th.
I might give it a shot but Battlefield games nowadays just don't scratch that same itch anymore for me.
Cant f'kin wait for this one..wasnt too sure at first to be honest with no campaign but reading about it more and more has persuaded me to pre order it..
I'm sure this beta is strictly for feedback and testing rather than a marketing stunt.
Pre order for access to the beta. Hahahaha ehhhh no. First you release the game. Then we wait for reviews. If reviews are good and the game is stable I might consider a purchase.
@Flurpsel that is for early access (as in you can play from 6th OCT). If you haven't it is open from 8-9.
So no need to pre-order to play it
@Ev3X well then the answer is 'No' even more. scummy business practice of selling 'early access'. Basically the same as pre order bonuses cut from launch content. The content is allready there, they're just selling it to you in pieces.
@lolwhatno Killzone 3 had a map like that to my favorite shooter ever.
@lolwhatno I didnt even finish the last one somehow i was dissapointed i had thought it would look so much better and the heavy gunplay was put away for COD gameplay.....
The third game should be rereleased on PS5 it had my favorite maps and modes and even the singleplayer was great for me. Hard but fun trophies it was so much fun. Operations i played that so much it was brilliant.
@Flaming_Kaiser A Killzone Collection with hybrid VR for PSVR2/PS5 would be a must-buy for me. I just feel that gritty world and tense combat (especially in multiplayer) would translate very well to VR.
Talking of hard Killzone trophies, that last boss in KZ2 on the hardest difficulty was a nightmare!
@Perturbator I hated the KZ2 multiplayer though it was so unbalanced. Against a good team it was a nightmare i would even say unplayable. But i cant remember if even beat the last boss i think i did🤪
But i know he was hard to beat plus the multiplayer trophies where a joke be the best of the world or something like that what a joke. I know trophies must be a challenge but this is ridiculous. With KZ3 i had fun and even Platinumed it hard but fun to achieve.
@Flaming_Kaiser Yeah apart from maybe Resistance 2, Lost Planet 2, BF Bad Company and Chronicles of Riddick, KZ2 had some of the most grindy/worst trophies out there for multiplayer.
I barely dipped my toes in the KZ multiplayer though. Got my ass handed to me if I remember correctly
