Hopefully we see more Ps5 focussed titles. Nothing against PS4 owners, but technology has to move on and we need more games that take fully advantage of the new consoles - especially now after 8 years with PS4.

Hopefully we see at least one huge surprise for Q4 2021 and something totally unexpected, like the return of a PlayStation classic franchise (Sly Cooper, Solid Snake, Jack&Dexter, Soul Reaver,…).

Probably Release of the SSD expansion firmware update shortly after?

I'd be happy if we just got some gameplay for God of War and perhaps one BIG surprise announcement, like say the announcement of a new remake from Bluepoint OR the announcement of a Resistance Reboot OR hell just the announcement of a Sunset Overdrive Definitive Edition or Sunset Overdrive 2.

My guess is we’ll see the new team asobi game assuming it isn’t a PSVR2 game. Also some of the rumoured side projects from guerilla and ND.

@velio84 - If the Bluepoint Acquisition isn't announced within the next two weeks, then I think we can truly brush off that 'Welcome to the Family' tweet as nothing more than a mistake, I HOPE Sony have acquired them, but if they had, I feel they will announce it within the next two weeks, before, during or after the PS Showcase Event, if not, we'll just have to accept the Bluepoint Acquisition just ain't happening.

Good. Communication was really needed as Sept 9th is one week shy of a year since the last "big" Playstation showcase. 40 minutes should be enough time to make the PS5 feel relevant as a next gen system instead of a PS4 Pro Pro.

Cautiously optimistic on this though. There's no guarantee of something getting me hyped.

I'd love to see FFXVI here, but I doubt they'd have something for this event and not have, at least, a few new extra snippets to show for TGS. Which they confirmed was a no show

Well Sony has never had an exciting direct showcase so far so I wont get myself too excited with this one .
Whatever you guys are most hyped seeing probably wont be shown so go in with low expectations to save yourself from being hurt or upset over it XD

5 days before Deathloop.. Just to set my own expectations low, I expect a 15 minute Deathloop multiplayer demo, but I’m hoping for FFXVI and whatever first party things we haven’t seen before.

@PSoneboi true, it’s most likely the 60 fps upgrade that’s noticeable currently.
Ratchet and Returnal could be mentioned as well. Visually and and with such a fast Gameplay Rift Apart is definitely Next Gen.

But as always it takes some time until the huge uplift in visuals and gameplay is noticeable on a new console gen, currently even more delayed due to the pandemic.

@uptownsoul Yeah I love PlayStation. Can’t wait for developers to be allowed to take full advantage of the PS5 hardware. I know we’ve had Demon’s Souls, R&C and Returnal but nothing really killer yet.

In my mind, I’m thinking 2023/24 before we start seeing any proper PS5 exclusive games.

We’ll probably have this cross gen thing going on for a few more years but let’s see what happens at the showcase.

Load times aren’t a big deal until you experience the PS5.

Unlike some would love a remake of MGS and Silent Hill and hoping we get some news on what Bend and Naughty Dog are working on.

Am I the only one that wants Sucker Punch or someone to announce a new Infamous game on PS5 hardware? Second Son wasn't great but it was good and I feel like it's about time we get a new one. First Light with Fetch was a awesome setup for a potential female protagonist for a Infamous game.

As someone who gets hyped up over every Nintendo Direct only to be left a bit disappointed, I am super hyped for this!!!

Thank you! Playstation is about to save of from all these lackluster showcases in that happened in 2021😊😂(I kid). I'd like to see what Guerrilla's other team is working on though I don't have any high expectation it will be shown. My expectations aren't too high for this one but I do expect a decent showcase at least.

About time! We need God of War, GT7, FFXVI and maybe some surprises. We know they are NOT coming out this year...and might even be late 2022 releases, but they should have enough to at least give us some information.

Hopefully they have some titles coming this year (like when they announced that Demons Souls was a launch title out of nowhere).

Only 40 minutes? I hope there’s a lot of smaller announcements and not just a focus on bigger titles.

@QBGaming12 im replaying infamous second son on ps5 it looks pretty nice with the 60 fps patch , i like it alot more this time around. i think its a pretty over looked game. i also would love a new infamous game though. even a full remake of the first infamous with second son graphics would be nice.

Oooh noice as the kids say. I'll be tuning in for sure, PSVR2 will get it's own spotlight soon enough and I'll be ready for that. Not fussed what they show, just nice to get excited for future titles.

I have heard that 15 minutes is devoted to GTA5.

I swear, if we get 10-15 minutes dedicated to GTA5, Deathloop and Fortnite, I'm gonna lose my mind. This is going to be Sony's biggest event this year (so far maybe?) and I hope this one doesn't disappoint.

I do love how Sony have completely ripped off the Nintendo Direct approach - including Treehouse segments. 😂😂😂

On a serious note, I'm really hoping to see some concrete info on games due in the next 6 months and a complete shift away from PS4. I love my PS4 but really want some reasons to buy a PS5.

I agree. To me the brilliance of the SSD for the portals was the complete absence of texture and asset pop in.

Had that game been released on PS4 I’m pretty sure there would be asset pop in.

Picking up some Depends from the store this weekend in anticipation of a God of War reveal… cause if it happens I’ll definitely shat myself. Hehe

@uptownsoul Missing in presence, I mean. Honestly I think the games they did put out lost a lot of "weight" without that PR presence. None of them landed with the same oomph as when they used to highlight stuff in the big shows.

Though I actually have somewhat ignored most of the games they've put out this year. Demon's Souls - I'm not a souls fan but I am curious enough I want to buy it, and I own all the other souls games, but not until it hits real sales because, well, I'm not a Souls fan. I do watch the sales for that. Bought Miles. Returnal is same as Souls, it's overpriced for what it is, and I truly hate roguelikes (Hades interested me for a couple hours, but that's it.), But it's unique enough I want to get it when it hits the right price. And R&C is the reason I wanted the console day 1. I'm not a sports game fan, but since it was on Game Pass I did spend a week or two playing MLB The Show. I wouldn't buy it, I don't buy sports games, but I did enjoy getting to try it out, so I count that among good memories from Sony this year. Even if I played on XB.

Other than HFW, GoW, and GT7 we don't have much we're looking forward to, yet, so hopefully this show makes that a lot more interesting.

@Luigia Totally agree, I loved Driveclub. I know it got alot of flack at launch but it was just a really fun racing game. I actually think it was slightly ahead of its time. The visuals were amazing pre-4K era. I can see a bit of Driveclub influence in DIRT 5 too, I think developer got absorbed into Codemasters. Forza seems to be the high benchmark ATM, let's hope GT7 is everything we hope it is.

A Surprise Studio Acquisition would be Atlus for me, I know it's a longshot but I would love to see it happen. They could still keep games coming to Nintendo and stuff but that would be so cool.

Let me mirror/ditto the "FINALLY!" sentiment. Don't do live events...fine. Don't do any events? Da hell?! It's hard to go from live events at E3, Gamescon, TGS, etc. to...nothing.

I'm sure it will be a well scripted and produced showcase. Hopefully it will be very light on CGI trailers and offer actual gameplay instead. Unfortunately, cringe and live gaffes will most likely not making appearances.

I’ve just bought WRC 10 for PS5 and it’s ace!! More accessible than DIRT 2.0 and having Sega Rally vibes with the legacy modes and cars.

I just want a car game exclusive to PS5 to MAX OUT the 16Gb of GDDR6 RAM and blow the roof off the PS5

A proper roadmap for what the PS5 has in store over the next few years is pretty much all I wanted. Give me a reason to upgrade other than improved performance for games I already have access to and next-gen exclusive DLC.

• Third party ***** showings of Fortnite, Fifa, COD etc (hopefully not!!)

A while ago wasn’t there a story from someone of note saying Sony had a counter response to Gamepass in the works but it wasn’t ready for announcement yet? This would be the perfect time for that if that is the case.

Perhaps some kind of PS Now / PS+ / Netflix subscription do dar. The timing of the FF games PS Now announcements seems suspect to me but who knows.

Anyway, I have some high expectations for this one after numerous employees have said to get hyped for it. I think there will be some huge key announcements that we really were not expecting.

Can we finally, finally all agree that if the Silent Hill Sony produced game doesn't appear then it's not coming and doesn't exist!

@Ward_ting I think it would be the right time too. They know that a lot of best PS5 generation games are still far away - the best of best will start to appear somewhere later in the generation.

So improving PS NOW would make a lot of sense right now.

I believe they have all necessary tools - PS Plus and Ps Now + streaming technology - they just need to create a new, modern and better concept for these services

I really just want to see GT, it's been ages since we've seen anything new. Should look even more amazing by now.

@anoyonmus oh I know that but I wouldn't be surprised if there is a Persona announcement in this. Sony buying Sega or certain parts wouldn't be that bad in the future. Ryu Ga Gotoku and Atlus would be cool, especially if the head of Yakuza Studio leaves like the rumors say he is.

@uptownsoul I generally agree in terms of only the enthusiast niche paying attention to the big shows, etc. I've said here before that basically everyone here on this site isn't really Sony's market and the really don't actually care what we what. Sadly it sounds like even Nintendo is skipping TGS now, along with Sony. Those two are in lock step with each other these days. Ugh! It's not so much about whether these things are important to the enthusiasts, so much that the enthusiasts that used to be the primary customer now aren't even significant. (Edit: I shouldn't trust the tone of NL articles, apparently Nintendo never does TGS... That's a show I haven't really followed much, but it sounded like a change from the norm at first.)

Though I don't agree about Xbox being any less visible in the mainstream market. In the UK, probably, but in the US, Xbox is everywhere in the mass market's place, same as Sony. Heck everyone's PC start menu, even on enterprise servers, is an Xbox reminder.
