Skrillex and Beat Saber seem like a match made in heaven, so this latest collaboration for the PlayStation VR hit is long overdue. A new music pack has hit the PS Store for £8.99/$10.99 that contains many of the Dubstep star's biggest and most popular tracks from when the genre was still a mainstream thing. There are eight in total, including Bangarang, Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites, and First of the Year (Equinox). If you're only after one particular song, they can all be bought individually for £1.69/$1.99.
The Skrillex music pack contains:
- Bangarang (feat. Sirah)
- Butterflies
- Don’t Go
- First of the Year (Equinox)
- Ragga Bomb (feat. Ragga Twins)
- Rock ‘n’ Roll (Will Take You to the Mountain)
- Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites
- The Devil’s Den
A Skrillex gig was the second-ever live show this scribe attended back in his concert going heyday, so this is a nice little blast of nostalgia for a male in his mid-twenties. Skrillex is now teaming up with Justin Bieber for some of his new tracks, so maybe we'll give that a skip. Will you be picking up the Beat Saber Skrillex music pack? I’ll be getting it purely for some new tracks to play with. Only downside of the PSVR version.
Really have no idea.
Is the Far Cry 3 song available?
I still find it mad that dubstep was a thing. Like they used to play Skrillex at school discos. Wild.
@nessisonett The weird thing is it started here in the UK years before Sonny Moore started doing it but apparently it took him to make it a big deal here.
I'll wait for his old band's stuff or something similar before getting this one.
@Jayofmaya Yeah, I’m a fan of the fact Skrillex’s brand of dubstep has been branded ‘brostep’ 😂
@nessisonett yeah being from Croydon I really can’t handle anybody associating his sound with what I would consider dubstep. Whoever coined brostep for that style earned my respect!
@nessisonett haha that's appropriate. Dubstep was really just an offshoot of neurofunk and breakcore jammed together and tbh I prefer those styles to it.
@Jayofmaya @TeapotBuddha @Scratchy_Seal I’ve always been more into the jungle scene myself! Blackstar/Rebel MC’s Tribute To Haile Selassie I is a classic.
@nessisonett @teapotbhudda Ha a jungle/hardcore (not happy hardcore may I add!)pack would almost be enough to make me purchase VR and beat saber alone. Now that I think about it, a middle aged man waving his hands around like a madman to some Rufige Kru in the front room might not be appreciated by the rest of the household.
