Spider-Man Dev Insomniac Is Making a Wolverine Game for PS5

More excited for this than Spidey tbh

In not really interested in Wolverine but it is developed by Insomniac therefore I'm still exited

so how big is this studio?

it's inhumane how fast they make games.

Loved Logan, but the thing is, Hugh Jackman is just a great actor, I hope they can live up to that.

Insomniac, bruh, take a friggin' breath! You've already carried the PS5 pretty far on your own up to this point, and you're just making everyone else look bad now!

I hope that this pattern stop (PS developing more and more super heroes titles from marvel instead of new and interesting stories) let's wait and see.

Insomniac Games are not only the best in the business, but the fastest too. ^^

As soon as i saw Logan i knew it was him but assumed he was in the new SM game and this was the reveal, when they revealed no its an actual Wolverine game my jaw dropped.

This could be absolutely brilliant.

One of only two big surprises (the other KotR being a console exclusive) but a good one.

I don’t know how Insomniac do it but doubting them at this point is futile.

Assuming your means of traversal are limited to something like a motorcycle, I'm curious if combat and storytelling alone will carry this one.

This was the second time my jaw droped to the floor.
First was KOTOR Remake.
Now a Wolverine game?
And made by Insomniac Games no less?
I am ALL IN. This studio is on fire right now.
And this is why I have a PS5. Keep them coming Sony Studios.
I´ll be here waiting for them.

Wolverine isn’t my favorite X-Man character but this seems pretty cool.

For me it might be a Marvel game i can actually be interested playing

Not sure if it was from a press release, but Greg Miller at Kinda Funny read out that Wolverine is being handled by the team who made Miles Morales... And it's a LOOOOONG way off.
Spiderman 1 team handling Spidey 2.
It does make me wonder if there's a 3rd team to continue Ratchet & Clank in the future... Or was Rift Apart its last hurrah :/

Since the Avengers game is so terrible, I'm all for them making a separate Marvel game universe which is lead by Insomniac and their Spider-man games.
I didn't expect a Wolverine game though.
I guess I was kinda hoping for a Daredevil game, since it would still be in New York.

@TheArt Yep Insomniac are made up of sex abusers, have all their games containing MTX, only make live service games and have all their games playing almost the same, oh wait they don't. Please explain what you mean because right now you seem bitter at this news.

When they first started the trailer I was like hell, spidey 2! Then I'm like hold up......OH SHHHHHIIIIIII! They're making WOLVERINE! mind blown

This is being made by the Miles Morales Team, as in Brian Horton and others so it should be great.

My favorite unexpected announcement and I don't know if there's a dev I'd rather see working on it. Rocksteady held the torch of best superhero game dev for a little bit but that's been passed to Insomniac and I couldn't happier to see Marvel trust it with another hugely popular character.

I wouldn't worry about it. The last Ratchet & Clank before Rift Apart was in 2016 and the last R&C with a new story was in 2013. Beyond that, barring something unfortunate, Insomniac has proven to be one of, maybe the most efficient studio since 2014. Since then it's been Sunset Overdrive (2014), SO DLC, R&C PS4 (2016), Spider-Man (2018), Spider-Man DLC, Spider-Man: Miles Morales last November and then just 7 months later R&C: Rift Apart. The turnaround time has been incredible and more impressive the quality of the games has been very high.

I'd say sit back and enjoy the ride. The next R&C will be here before too long but in the meantime we'll get some awesome superhero stuff from Insomniac to make the wait easier.

I would give everything to Sony... nobody else seems to knows how to make a story driven Marvel game (GOTG looked like another clunker in the making)

The jury still out on DC. Hoping they can bring BatMan back to glory.

People say Insomniac are pumping out games and that's true. But it's only last gen that game production seems to take forever.

They used to make a ratchet and clank game every year. Naughty Dog released the first 3 Uncharteds and The Last of Us with only one year between each game. From Software releases games every other year. Returnal took 18 months to make and that studio makes a game every couple of years.

You get the idea.

We're just more conditioned to people like Rockstar never producing anything that we're shocked when studios are actually productive.

How would a wolverine game play out? First person or third person hack-n-slash? Open world? Linear? Gotta have dismemberment, right? Destructible environment? It's wolverine and claws! Traversal? Claws allow him to climb anything. Healing factor, check. An obvious witcher-like mode where he uses his senses. Multiple skins? Hopefully not with differing stats, ie blue and yellow, differ from the brown suit, etc.

Probably gotta what till 2024 or 2025 for this, huh? :/

@Milktastrophe Awfully presumptuous on your part if you think that because the next two games are Marvel, every game from now on by Insomniac will be a Marvel game.

There was only one Ratchet & Clank for the entirety of the PS4 lifecycle. There has already been a new Ratchet & Clank within the first year of the PS5. You questioning if the franchise is dead just because it’s not one of Insomniac’s next two games comes off as silly in that context.

@KippDynamite You’re correct about Ratchet in the PS2 and PS3 days. There was only one Ratchet for PS4 but they also did Sunset Overdrive, Spiderman, as well as multiple VR and smaller projects during that time last generation. Also, Naughty Dog released the Uncharted and TLoU games two years apart from each other, not one year: Uncharted 1 in 2007, 2 in 2009, 3 in 2011, and TLoU in 2013.

I’ve never heard that Returnal was developed in 18 months, where did you get that from?

I hope it’s similar to Raven Softwares Xmen Origins: Wolverine game from 2009. Loved that game so much.

It was a bit rough around the edges but you actually felt like you were playing Wolverine. Pouncing from enemy to enemy, impaling them with your claws. Lopping off heads and limbs. It was great fun.

Insomniac probably won’t do anything too brutal though. Will they? Would be good if there was a brutal version for the adults and a PG13 version for the kids.

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Now I think sony is stupid for firing shawn layden, the man responsible for purchasing insomniac games lol. Like seriously, insomniac games are crazy with those barrage of ps5 games.
