Squad up, soldiers, it's Battlefield 2042 time. Well, sort of. The upcoming multiplayer shooter releases on 19th November, but before that, there's the small matter of the open beta test. Playable on both PlayStation 5 and PS4, the beta is now available for download.
Simply search Battlefield 2042 on PS Store and you should see the free open beta client within the first few results. You can get the beta downloaded and installed starting now, although you won't be able to play quite yet. The PS5 version weighs in at approximately 16GB, by the way.
Precisely when you'll be able to actually play the beta test will depend on one or two things. If you happen to have early access to the beta, you can start playing from tomorrow, 6th October. If you don't, you'll need to wait a couple of extra days. For more details — including all launch times and how to get early access -- follow the link.

I want to see what this is going to be like, but the Open Beta is on the same weekend as Metroid Dread is released. Will grab this anyway but I know which will be played more.
This will take up all my time between the start and the end of the beta and then onto Alan Wake and FarCry 6
I have EA Play so jump in for early access for the next 4 days, and make my decision to pre order from there.
£40 on Indian PS Store for PS5 will be sweet 🔥🔥
Downloading now! Generally, I'm not the biggest fan of MP FPS games but I do want to see if it's worth the money.
See you there soldiers.
@AndyKazama you'd better look up then because I'm going to be raining down 30mm calibre chaingun on your position 😎
Looking forward to it!
I'll be the one inadvertently shooting at his own team mates & crashing helicopters immediately after takeoff, look out for me😀
I hope its good. As a fan since BF1942 way back, Hardline and BF1 were a bit disappointing and I skipped V altogether.
2042 looks like a return to BF3 and 4. Both great games, although Vietnam is my Battlefield favourite, there was just something special about that jungle setting and hardware/guns of that era.
Hopefully this can recapture the magic of 4. I liked 1 for being an immersive triple A World War 1 game when we don't get that much, but it wasnt really a proper 'Battlefield' game.
@GoodGame this game man! It is going to be awesome! I am one of the biggest Battlefield fans btw . Hope to see you on the field. In same squad of course.
@ORO_ERICIUS I will definitely be on this weekend. Will squad up soon
@Perturbator that was a long time ago. We’re still waiting to revisit that era I don’t like modern warfare, so I’ll pass this one up. Not even a campaign!
Downloaded and ready to go, can't wait.
I downloaded the beta and preordered the game by an online retailer. How do I join the beta tomorrow?
@costa69gr The retailer should of sent you a code to redeem I believe
