A top producer from Japan Studio – who left Sony when the team was disbanded earlier in the year – has joined Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin developer Team Ninja. Masaaki Yamagiwa – whose credits include Bloodborne, Déraciné, and Tokyo Jungle to name just a few – was photographed alongside PlayStation indies evangelist Shuhei Yoshida and Nioh series director Fumihiko Yasuda.
It’s unclear what Yamagiwa’s new role at Team Ninja will entail, but it goes without saying that he brings a ton of experience to the group.

Great addition, maybe they work on bloodborne 2 since fromsoftware are working on elden ring?
Bloodborne, Nioh and PlayStation in the same sentence is exciting.
@Ultrasmiles Fromsoft likes complete control, and has multiple teams. Bloodborne and Dark Souls II were being developed simultaneously and Armored Core was in there too. I’m sure From is working on at least one other thing besides Elden Ring.
That’s a fantastic addition to Team Ninja. Hopefully it brings a fresh angle for their next Nioh-like after this FF one.
Excellent news!
I actually hope he can help in the development of the souls-like FF by Team Ninja which is in dire need of such expertise.
I have a feeling Stranger of Paradise is going to be a surprise huge hit for Square and Team Ninja. It's got the From fans interested, the FF fans interested, had a great second demo and the general internet interested with the meme potential.
Looking forward to how it all turns out.
@Itsacardgame clearly not if Sony own their two most valuable IPs.
@Ultrasmiles Miyazaki has never enjoyed making sequels. So chances are that won't happen.
@Korgon I wanted to play the rest of the second demo but I cannot be arsed playing through the same area from the first demo again.
@nessisonett
That makes sense. I actually haven't gotten around to playing the second area yet either but I did get to the ending of the first area. What a ridiculous cutscene that was. 😂
@Itsacardgame they had bluepoint do demon souls remake tho
Nice, welcome to the team. I’m actually hoping a Dead or Alive 7 is in the works. DOA6 still disappointed me.
That’s awesome news! This game could end up being really special ⭐️
@NomNom when I worked with them they did. Sony does own the IP to Demon’s Souls and Bloodborne just as BNE owns the IP to Dark Souls and Elden Ring and Activision owns Sekiro. BNE had no control over production of the games, only publishing rights and that included testing, marketing, and manufacturing. The BNE producers were responsible for keeping those things on track and relaying the issues back to From. I assume it was the same for Sony and Activision.
What Sony could do, since they own the IP is hire Team Ninja to develop Bloodborne II, but that could be super awkward and result in a different understanding of the IP.
@Ultrasmiles yeah, they own the IP. Maybe I was arguing a different point, that when From is the developer, they want full control. I don’t think Sony would want to have someone else make a new game in the series. Bluepoint has proven they can port games and do a really good job of remaking games, but we really haven’t seen what they can create on their own. Sony can back them to dev it, but that’s a huge risk.
Not 'quite' GRRM & Miyazaki levels of collaboration... but awesome nonetheless. Very excited by what they could produce.
@Ultrasmiles I think I'd give them the benefit of the doubt considering Bloodborne's producer is on board and the know-how they carry over from Nioh.
@Ultrasmiles fromsoftware is rumored to be working on a souls like ps5 exclusive that isn't bloodborne.
I would not be against Team Ninja being the supporting developer alongside From Software to make Bloodborne 2.
@Korgon @nessisonett Same issue here...will most likely just wait for the full release in March at this rate.
