Dragon Quest X: Rise of the Five Tribes Offline is exactly what it says on the box — it's an offline version of Dragon Quest X, the online MMO that first launched for the Nintendo Wii (!) back in 2012. Despite the game's success in Japan (it was ported to the Wii U, PC, and 3DS) it never actually made it West — and it's looking like the overhauled Offline version won't be making the trip either.
The game just got a 26th February 2022 release date in its homeland, but again, there's been no word whatsoever on a potential overseas launch. We imagine that, originally being an MMO, Dragon Quest X would be an absolute nightmare to localise — but it's still a shame that we never got to experience this great-sounding RPG.
Fortunately, Square Enix is keen to make Dragon Quest a more global brand these days. Both Dragon Quest XII: The Flames of Fate and Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake have already been confirmed for worldwide release dates, for example. So while it seems unlikely that we'll ever see Dragon Quest X hit Western consoles, never say never.

Would love to play Dragon Quest X in English someday. Only ever heard good things about it.
Dragon Quest X being translated is like American politics improving. It's never gonna happen.
Oh my goodness that was a much less dark joke in my head.
I'd pick it up. I'm actually playing a Dragon Quest game (XI) for the 1st time right now and I'm absolutely loving it. XII will probably be the first game I preorder in about 15 years.
Well I’m crossing fingers and sacrificing a chicken at midnight (ordering chicken nuggets).
So strange it's not confirmed for a global release, I know there's no way we'd get the MMO but an offline version seems to be the solution they needed to release it over here.
Makes less sense releasing it only in Japan as they can already play the entire story content of this game for free in the Online version instead of paying full price for what is essentially a remake with (debatably) worse graphics...
I'd still love to play Dragon Quest X in English, maybe our wishes will come true next year?
Oh i see. It's the syndrome of "It's chibi therefore the west won't like it".
I am certain lots of DQ fans would be happy to have it. I'm sure it would sell at least as much as those mediocre mana and saga games they keep remaking/remastering.
@Nem We only like boring white dudes who are edgy or steroïd enraged characters that are so pumped up they cant fit through a door..... ☹️
