Given the overwhelming popularity of the Mario Kart series, we suppose it is surprising there aren’t more of them – especially in the free-to-play space. Enter KartRider: Drift, a new title from Nexon with crossplay and cross-progression, on its way to the PS4. A beta’s coming in December, with over 30 different tracks available from the off.
There’s a touch of ModNation Racers to this one: you can customise your character and even make unique wraps for your vehicles. But while it sounds decent on paper, it just doesn’t have the kind of attractive and inviting art style that the best releases in the genre have, does it? At least it’s free-to-play, so you lose nothing for giving it a spin!

One of the more alright announcements of the State of Play imo. Sure it's not the most amazing game, still looks pretty decent and it's free to play as well. Better than whatever that K-pop game was or the Among Us clone.
I'm always down to try a kart racer, but the F2P aspect means I'll most likely ignore this.
I do not even play Mario Kart. Rather read a book than play a cartoony Kart game.
They should have shown more of the 400 cars in GT.
Shin Megami has a great campaign. They show a new demon every other day from the game. Sony should do something like that with GT cars.
I swear I played the beta of this over a year ago on PlayStation. Must have been on Xbox.
I also remember trying to play the old Chinese version in the mid 2000’s.
Good that’s it’s still free to play.
I like the shiny, clean art style. Plus nice 60 fps frame rate. This looks good.
ModNation Racers needs a reboot.
@get2sammyb: Any word on whether this will have offline split-screen mulitiplayer? I'm finding conflicting info.
