Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania finally brings the series back in a major way today, 5th October, on PlayStation 5 and PS4. SEGA's arcade platformer about simians in spheres has been out of the running for a while, but this remake, bundling together all the levels and mini-games from the titles fans actually care about, sees its status restored.
To celebrate the game's launch, we have the above new trailer to enjoy, and we'd say it's worth a watch. The video swaps between gameplay footage and some pretty wonderful animation work, courtesy of Powerhouse Animation. These jolly, hand-drawn scenes put us in mind of the animated intro to Sonic Mania, which was just as delightful.

Not sure the game is for me, but I loved the animation in the trailer!
Now that's a cool little trailer. I really enjoy this franchise, in particular watching speedruns at GDQs, but I'll probably wait for a sale because...Far Cry 6, Demon Slayer, Riders Republic all in this month. YIKES.
I’m not really into the cutscenes in this game. The ones I’ve seen so far have none of the bonkers charm of the original story mode in 2.
@nessisonett I have to disagree it looks fantastic.
@Flaming_Kaiser I’ve played the first couple of hours of the game. Every cutscene is a butchered mess compared to the strangely coherent yet bonkers cutscenes in the Super Monkey Ball 2. There’s not even any dialogue in the remake.
@nessisonett I like the trailer or are we talking about different things? If so im sorry i thought it looked fun.
@Flaming_Kaiser The trailer is fully animated and looks great, the problem is that the cutscenes really don’t use that style in-game. It’s just a bit of a shame.
@nessisonett Thats a pity this looks like it would have worked great. So stupid they should have used this style but probably to save money. I rather pay a extra to get the best experience.
Trailer was fun, but I'll probably still wait for a sale next year.
