Well, this is a pleasant surprise. Polish author Stanisław Lem’s 1964 novel, The Invincible, is coming to the PlayStation 5 – and here’s your first glimpse of the adaptation, developed by Starward Industries. “Waking up as a space scientist on a hostile planet, you embark on a mysterious mission to find the missing crew of your spaceship,” the official description reads. “Survival is a matter of your correct choices, taken whilst uncovering the secrets of the planet, bigger than anyone thought.”
The blurb continues: “Landing on a planet Regis III you have to find the missing crew members using some advanced space equipment, while relying on your brains and instincts to survive on the planet which quickly occurs to be unwelcoming. Soon you’ll discover that Regis III holds terrifying secrets which are uncovered while you’re piecing together the fate of your crew. And as you delve deeper into the mystery, you realise that perhaps you are not alone and that some places like this planet are better left untouched. But it’s too late to turn back.”
The studio, Starward Industries, is comprised of developers from a variety of well-regarded releases, including The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Dying Light. It’s promising “immersive gameplay with a non-linear story shaped by your relationships, choices, and persuasive skills”. The game’s apparently due out next year, and has rocketed right to the top of our wishlist based on this small teaser trailer. Impressive stuff!

This looks absolutely amazing! Hadn't heard of it until now!
I’m honestly only familiar with Lem’s Solaris but wow, this looks very very cool. Excited!
Looking good for an indie game. I'm glad that mentioned non-linear gameplay.
Hopefully a decent mix of exploration, puzzles and perhaps some combat thrown into the mix.
It looks really cool.
Oooh baby. Color me intrigued.
Ah yes, "Space Scientist"... a scientist well versed in the science of... space.
I hope everyone uses the links and watches in 4K/HDR/60fps…
Looks absolutely fantastic! Can’t wait to see more!
The novel is an absolute sci-fi classic, this could be good.
@nessisonett Lem's very good in general, if you're into that old school sci-fi style that puts a strong emphasis on the "sci" part.
I've only ever read him in the original Polish but it's not exactly the kind of writing that can have a lot lost in translation, should be good in English too.
@Voltan Yeah, it’s that proper 60s sci-fi goodness from what I read of Solaris. The Tarkovsky movie’s incredible as well. The American one less so. This needs a wibbly wobbly synth soundtrack for the full 60s vibe!
Bleak, hard sci-fi, in keeping with the book, I'm very excited to play this game. It's going to be similar to Firewatch is how I see it if I have to characterise it.
First person view only?
🙄
Has certainly piqued my interest! May even be the game that pushes me into getting a PS5 earlier than anticipated*
*(usual stock availability caveats applied)
Its amazing an indie developer makes a next gen looking game before Sony even can, smh. The trailer looked fantastic.
Wow, yeah it is now pretty high on my wishlist. That looks amazing, and the game description sounds perfect for me.
I've been following this one since it was announced with few screen shots.
Then they announced this is getting delayed to 2022.
This'll be a serious contender next year.
Who needs Starfield, amirite?
I view all pre-release games with extreme caution nowadays but yeah, this looks and sounds good!
I love space games looking forward to seeing more on this one.
Gotta love these 2nd year games that are coming out for this gen. By the time the third year starts it’s going to be in f**king hyperdrive!
The real next gen is only starting
Okay this does look interesting.
Looks amazing! I'm envious of XBox getting Starfield but this looks just as cool.
Very intriguing, the teaser looks good! I'm definitely pleasantly surprised why this! I've got to say, the PS5 has by far exceeded my expectations. last week I got platinum trophy for Spider-Man remastered (the visual, haptics & gameplay are noticably better than the PS4 version). I'm now 5 trophies away from platinum in Spider-Man Miles Morales. I'm also a third way through my first play through of Ratchet & Clank Rift apart, it's absolutely gorgeous! I'm extremely excited for what the future holds! Even PS4 games are next level on PS5 as I was completely blown away by the PS5 patch for God of War & Last of Us 2 happy gaming 😎🎮✌️
Are we going to talk about the dialogue..?
Looks like a day 1 purchase
I'm gonna purchase this one week after release! It looks that good!
@Ken_Kaniff... This made me laugh til some piss came out... Er, fanks mayte 🤣...
Why act like it's only coming to PS5? This is right from their website...

@michaelf coming to Xbox and PC. Straight from their own website.

@TwoLiter thanks for the additional information about which formats this interesting-looking game is being released on. It shan’t change my decision on which console I’ll purchase next, though.
