As expected, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League made an appearance during DC FanDome. It's not the gameplay blowout we're sure many were hoping for, but we do at least now have a meaty story trailer featuring lots of in-game action and cutscenes. It's looking pretty dang good.
This is the new game from Rocksteady, the studio that's known for the core Batman: Arkham trilogy. This new trailer sees the group of four villains — Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark — being recruited into Task Force X, a group that must carry out dangerous missions if they want to stay alive. The quartet's mission in this game is to, well, kill the Justice League.
The superheroes appear to be brainwashed or affected in some way, acting aggressively and causing wanton destruction. Additionally, an alien race is invading Earth, which is obviously bad news. All this points to Brainiac being the real antagonist of the story.
The game is still a while away, releasing some time in 2022, but this trailer has us very interested to see more. What do you think? Are you excited for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League? Do or die in the comments section below.

Urgh, where’s the gameplay? We’ve already had a story trailer!
Also, Amanda Waller is clearly the same actress as Cere from Star Wars Jedi. Very weird concept given the advances in motion capture.
Think Im becoming a broken record but we need gameplay lol looks great and they've nailed the tone but i want some King Shark gameplay dammit
The game is at most a year away so I'm surprised they don't show any gameplay footage at their own show. A bit of a cop-out.
@nessisonett I had the same reaction to seeing Debra Wilson (who I believe is the actress). Obviously known actors being in games is nothing new, but it'll become a problem when multiple characters in different games have the same face. Games aren't and shouldn't be movies, etc.
@ShogunRok why? If there's one media-form that's stuffed full of indenti-kit characters it's gaming and no-one bats an eyelid.
Excited to see gameplay, but clearly this is a VERY high budget production. (As expected from Rocksteady.)
So is this part of the Batman: Arkham canon, then? Because obviously that's the Penguin from those games.
@Integrity Well, you can have generic or bland characters who people never remember, but it's not quite the same as sticking a real person's face on a character, who happens to be the face of another character in a different game. You start seeing the actor rather than the character, and games don't really need to be limited like that.
Sometimes a celebrity face helps sell a game. Keanu Reeves in Cyberpunk, Norman Reedus in Death Stranding, etc. Makes total sense from a business point of view, but it would be a bit rubbish if we end up with the same actors doing multiple games. It's already happening here with "oh, it's that actress from Fallen Order".
Well it looks great from a story and performance perspective, now we just need to see gameplay as this basically tells us nothing on that front but Rocksteady have a great track record
@ShogunRok shes also created a multiverse with the Telltale Batman games as she voices Waller in them
@ShogunRok alternatively it could finally give the games industry the respect it deserves as an artform Still gamers are considered juvenile for liking games so maybe if there's a steady stream of 'serious' artists starring in games that will snowball and we'll have so many recognisable faces from film that we won't have to worry about saturation of one of them.
Its already working in the other direction with the film industry gravitating towards games for its inspiration more than ever.
I wish this game wasn't trying to be funny, but I'll remain cautiously optimistic.
@ShogunRok Yeah it’ll probably get more widespread from now. It’s one thing for Nolan North to be in every game, he’s the Penguin in this after all, but seeing the same faces is a weird one. It’s probably just as hard to create an accurate representation of the actress than to fit her facial animations to a made-up face.
@get2sammyb Yes, but still kind of weird because Deadshot and Harley Quinn don't look very similar to the versions of those characters in the Arkham games.
Looks great in all departments and I can't wait to play the whole thing but like everyone else is saying I would like to see gameplay.
Looks great to me. I really wanted to see some game play. Did they say anything about this being a live service or a single player game?
Seems like those bad movies. They should make The Boys game haha, thats what i thought hoped Suicide Squad would be like long ago.
After the recent movie, this game has a lot to live up to.
Definitely surprised that neither game got an actual release date.
@ShogunRok I said the same thing. I was like, "That's Debra Wilson from MadTV!" That penguin bit at the end though...
No gameplay for either game, no release dates other than generic 2022. Disappointing
@everynowandben well, isn't Deadshot white in the Batman games?
@get2sammyb @everynowandben I thought I read somewhere that it was a loosely tied game where as the new Batman is completely different universe. Was also going to make the Harley Quinn point but tbh, I'm also on board with @ShogunRok, in that I don't need a celebrity face because personally it adds no excitement or enjoyment. I thought she had a good model in the Arkham series.
Like the nod to Arkham Asylum driving through them gates like in the first game
@nessisonett If the characters are based on an existing movie or tv series that's fine but I think it's a bit lazy whenever developers decide to use 100% likeness of the actors.
I was hoping for some gameplay but this looks great anyway. I'm much more excited about it than I was before.
this has me more interested now. it looks great, but yes game play is required here.
it's now on my radar after this nice eye piece, but if the gameplay sucks it will just as quickly fall off.
Story trailer definitely has me hyped, but the next one better show us some damn gameplay!
@nessisonett Debra Wilson is a legend and has done a lot of video game acting work. I was happy to see them using her for this game. Her face is very recognizable.
No gameplay shown is pretty disappointing.
This made me laugh.... penguin getting trolled best thing all year.
