Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy has today been patched to version 1.05, implementing a new ray tracing mode to go alongside the options prioritising visual quality and the frame rate. Weighing in at 1.414GB, it is available to download now on PlayStation 5. The update also brings with it a secret save rollback feature for anyone who can't progress with their current save. Imagine buying a game day one in this day and age 🤦🏻♂️
Raytracing mode? So we'll be playing at 10fps then?
Yeah, what’s the framerate for ray-tracing?
@Jaz007 I’m guessing 30 fps but not 4K. I’m curious to see some footage.
I hit just a few minor bugs on my playthrough (including the obnoxious Fully Loaded trophy glitch), but it was a surprisingly overall smooth experience. Just a fantastic game in general.
@kingbreww paying higher prices for unfinished versions …
@Cherip-the-Ripper 30 Fps mode seems to be very stable before. 60 fps mode was struggling on all versions.
I hate having to pick modes so much. The eye candy is too good, but the smoothness is also so damn good.
Just let Insomniac do all the videogames please
@Jaz007 Yeah, I’ve read it’s 4K at 30fps.
My favorite comic book game ever and I’ve played most of them. It’s the best version of the marvel comics universe that we’ve seen so far.
We'll see if my wife gets me this game for PS5 or a drone.
I'll probably end up with a crochet hat.
I don't see a Black Friday discount in those patch notes. Disappointed!!
@LiamCroft Are there any of the visual improvements (object and particle density, visual effects, ...) of the Quality Mode gone in the Ray Tracing Mode?
@Olmaz Going to have to wait for the df video.
Waited for this to start my NG+!
@kingbreww I don’t have to imagine, I did buy it day one and it’s been fantastic! What’s more, now I get additional post release features and bug fixes. Imagine buying a game before digital delivery where bugs and errors are just there forever and if you wanted a rebalanced game, you’d have to fork out for a new cartridge.
I played it at 30fps mode on PS5, for a game like this, visuals take more of a priority.
I’ve fancied Guardians of the Galaxy on PS5 since launch, and a good update is almost as enticing as a good sale for me. I’ve got some store credit, so maybe I’ll pick this one up next time I’m passing my local GAME store.
Oh well, I already finished it. I really liked the looks of it regardless.
this game is worth every penny... whomever came up with the script that goes non stop from start to end of this game needs a raise because it is awesome..!! "Dog Report Item!!!"
Got my copy of the game today, might play it shortly, if not; tomorrow, but I'm hearing great things about the game, which is good, because I was very hesitant to play the game after... that OTHER game, but if the characters, humor, emotion and story is as good as I'm hearing, Guardians of the Galaxy could be my hidden gem of the year alongside F.I.S.T.
They need to state the specifics though. What resolution for RT mode?
Great game. Too bad I already finished it. It’s a one and done game in my book so I have zero interest in NG+.
Although I didn’t encounter any game-breaking bugs, the frame rate in performance mode was pretty darn awful at launch.
Great game, I've already smashed through it. I can't image me going back Purley for collecting and trophy hunting. If they ever add DLC I'll be all over it.
@kingbreww
You realise in this case this are just extra stuff, the game was finished.(I played it and had a blast)
Back in the day when I was growing up, if a game was broken it stayed broken, no patches.
And believe me there were a lot of busted games.
@Nalodart @Amnesiac yeh I know, that why I wait until it’s optimised/got the extra stuff or finished as I like to call it. So when I play games the first time I get the better version giving the better first time experience 👌
An amazing game. I strongly recommend buying it. I completed it last week prior to this update. Shame as the graphics are stunning before the update so all these extra refinements would have made the game even better.
Music and gameplay are spot on. Though the gameplay got a tad repetitive towards the end and the bosses were a tad simple and bullet sponges.
@Thelegend159 Bought it today. Retail disc is available for 35€ in Germany as Black Friday offer.
Looking forward to the game. I was surprised of all the positive reviews. The first gameplay from the Sony state of play looked a bit boring (in my opinion).
Welcome now with RT as well. I will see, because in general I prefer the 60 fps modes - resolution is not a huge thing for me.
Nice, glad to see GOTG is continuing to get free updates!
I plan to pick this up soon as I see a $25 sale or cheaper.
