Inspired by the classic story of Pinocchio (no, really), Lies of P first caught our attention back in May, when it was announced for PlayStation 5. It's a Souls-like action RPG, and this new gameplay trailer has much more than a whiff of Bloodborne about it. The gothic style, the visceral combat... Familiar stuff.
Lies of P certainly has potential, though. The gameplay on show here looks rock solid, and we can't deny that it's a unique premise. As far as pre-alpha footage goes, this looks great.
Lies of P is aiming to hit PS5 at some point in 2023. Hopefully we hear more about it in the near future.

Looks a very capable Bloodborne substitute, looking forward to it!
Seems like the only games coming out anymore and souls/rogue likes...
Definitely one to watch. Forget pre-alpha, I've seen worse looking games in beta.
Very surprised how good it looks. Definitely keeping my eye on this!
I hope there's some mechanic, where the more you lie, the bigger your weapon gets...
By the end, you're holding it with 2 hands 😉
This looks tremendously good!
The P stands for "Plagiarism" 😉
Jokes aside, this looks incredible from this footage, so an even more polished product will be a joy. Keeping an eye on this one.
Not a fan of the genre but this looks good and still over a year away
I'm a sucker for aesthetics like this so I'm down. Much more exciting than Wuchang Fallen Feathers imo.
This looks great!
@Icey664 I'm willing to bet those two make up under 3% of the games coming out, probably a lot less.
From the YouTube description:
"inspired by the original stories of Pinocchio"?!?
That is NOT what I thought this game was about but I am now somehow even more intrigued.
They took even the doll to a whole new level 😂
Never heard of this but trailer looks really good.
One to watch for sure
if bloodborne and greedfall had a baby
Wake up son.looks amazing .word up son
@SoulsBourne128 I mean Wuchang is literally a rip off of the souls games so of course it is.
It easily looks better than Elden Ring.
@Nepp67 yep lol righr down to some of the similar sound effects and animations from Bloodborne and Sekiro. Wouldn't mind so much if it tried to add some twist like say, Code Vein, Nioh, Immortal Shell or Surge (heck, even Lords of the Fallen tried), but it just looked like a straight up carbon copy.
With Lies of P, while taking place in a victorian setting, it atleast adds some neat mechanics to its gameplay not present in bloodborne, like grappling enemies towards you or performing continous counters. Plus, I prefer the art direction here, where every enemies has this weird automaton/doll look to them.
Bioshock meets Bloodborne. Looks nice. Various weapons, magic and some disturbing dolls.
Thats some tippity toppity fire effects, definitely looks like something I'd buy and be rubbish at
@SoulsBourne128 Mind boggling to me that practically no article site is pointing it out. They even took animations from Blood Starved Beast and Ludwig for the boss they showed off. It really pissed me off. Lies of P looks absolutely stellar so far so I hope we see more of it in the future.
If you’re friends with P, then you’re friends with me.
@mattesdude Well, if you’re down with P, then you’re down with me
I'm intrigued, but most soulsborne games tend to fall short of fromsoft. Surge, lords of the fallen, ashen, they all have something lacking. I'll wait for a demo/beta(fingers crossed).
Looks really good! The Pinocchio connection is also very interesting. Judging by the story trailer a few months ago we play as Pinocchio himself...though obviously a much darker interpretation of the character.
Consider myself highly interested!
Hmm is Geppetto the main vilian. He was a great one in...old graphic novel spoiler alert: Fables.
Lies in P is a terrible name for a game.
I think it looks pretty great. Does seem like good old P is on a revenge mission against Gepetto and all his inventions. Just like the story I read as a child 😁.
If I can get my hands on a PS5 by then, I'll probably pick this up.
Looks great.

@colonelkilgore
Talk about deserving royalties..
From Soft and SIE Japan deserve a cut of this. Funny enough, this game also rips upcoming ARPG Steelrising via Greedfall dev Spiders.
Seriously, watch this trailer and then watch gameplay trailers of Bloodborne and Steelrising. Direct robbery. Sad.
@iamtylerdurden1 well that… certainly is one way of looking at it. Another is that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
It happens in all genres, doom-clones became first person shooters, double-dragon clones… scrolling beat em ups, Street Fighter clones became one on one fighters… and the list goes on.
My advice as a fan of Bloodborne (it’s my G.O.A.T) is simply to enjoy it.
@Bunchesopuppies
Bloodborne meets Bloodborne with a bit of Steelrising rip-off. This is more than just influence, it's sad. I feel bad for Sony/From and even more so for Spiders with Steelrising. This is a rip off. It looks decent because it looks like Bloodborne with some Steelrising skin.
At least a game like The Surge does its own thing. A game like Nioh as well. Both Soulsborne but each with unique settings and mechanics. This looks like they started with an exact Bloodborne rip and then as other Soulsbornes announced and released they stole more aspects. Sekiro, Steelrising, it's all there. Theft.
@Ultrasmiles Close, and the correct studios, but it's Bloodborne meets Steel Rising. It's Spider's follow-up to Greedfall. Watch a trailer for Steel Rising and tell me it's not a copy of that game meets Bloodborne.
@SoulsBourne128 The art direction isn't original either. Go watch Steelrising..
From what little I have seen, gameplay looks excellent! I look forward to seeing the reviews in 2023.
