Sony’s big-screen adaptations of Resident Evil have, historically, earned the organisation a pretty penny, so it’s perhaps no surprise to see it pushing upcoming movie Welcome to Raccoon City with all its might. This new trailer consists of some new and previously seen clips, with plenty of prosthetics and strawberry jam.
Seeing so many locations from the games is undeniably neat, and while we’re not expecting any Oscars here... Well, it does look kinda fun, doesn’t it? We’re not quite sure how the Japanese giant’s managed to miss the Halloween release window – surely this would have done better had it launched last week? – but it’s due out 24th November in North America and 3rd December in the UK.

Looks like a decent high grade B tier movie to me but fun nonetheless!
Looks great but i wont change my view on the terrible casting on Leon.
Looks just crap enough to be enjoyable!
Weird trailer, but looks alright regardless!
@Flaming_Kaiser Yep. It looks fun but the Leon casting is terrible.
That guy would be perfect for Luis Sera though!
That looks shockingly bad, I’m in!
Terrible casting but looks entertaining in a "end of the working week switch ur brain off" way
I'm going to a gig the day before release and will probably be too hungover haha Maybe the week after!
@Zuljaras @Flaming_Kaiser And what, exactly, is terrible about Leon's actor?
Looks much better than the paul anderson movies so i will go see this
It's gonna be bland and boring. The worst kind of bad movie.
@GeneJacket The casting is terrible not the actor. He looks nothing like Leon from the games.
Is it wrong to have such opinion?
@Zuljaras When your opinion is based on something as superficial as what he looks like, yeah...especially when you say he's a terrible Leon (without having seen the movie and having no idea how good his performance is) but he'd make a great Luis. What makes him a better fit for Luis than Leon?
Can anyone enlighten me on this "terrible casting"? I find the more glaring issue to be that it looks like cheap trash.
EDIT. Hold up... Are people really turning this into a race thing?!
@GeneJacket He looks like Luis ... I mean it is obvious. When I watch a movie based on a games I want the actors to resemble their characters.
For movies looks matter. At least for me.
@Zuljaras Hypothetically speaking, let's say, if Leon was cast "accurately", aka a white guy, but wasn't in his RPD uniform, maybe he was in civilian clothes, would you immediately recognise him then?
My point is, I think the costumes do a lot of heavy lifting in terms of mirroring their game counterparts. Many, many, many characters from fictional sources have had race and gender variations in film, this is no different. I honestly don't see a problem here.
@JB_Whiting You forget the hair! The hair is important for Leon! It is too stylish to be thrown away!
I will watch and enjoy the movie as a RE fan. But that does not mean I will be 100% satisfied with Leon's casting
So there is definitely no problem
So much complaing about Leon’s casting yet Jill looks nothing like the in game character an no one bothers, the director has admitted that the actor cast was the best option for portraying Leon regardless of looks
@Zuljaras I thought the same thing when Tobey Maguire was cast as Spider-Man. "He looks nothing like comics Peter" my friends and I said. Thought the same when Hugh Jackman was cast as Wolverine. "Logan is 5'3" in the comics, Jackman is 6'3", the character is SUPPOSED to be short, THAT'S IMPORTANT!!" we cried on message boards. Even before that people talked endless sh*t about Christopher Reeves not looking enough like Clark Kent and nerds lost their minds (not in the good way) when Michael Keaton was cast as Batman.
Black Canary is my all-time favorite DC character and I was (momentarily) irked when they cast Jurnee Smollett to play her in Birds of Prey. My stupid lizard brain wanted 100% comic accurate Dinah, then I saw the movie, it kicks ass and Jurnee KILLED it. Flip side, Anya Taylor-Joy looks so much like Magik that it's eerie, but New Mutants is still an insufferable pile of garbage no amount of good casting would have saved.
Point is, they could absolutely NAIL the casting with actors who look 100% identical to their source material counterpart, but it doesn't matter in the least if the movie sucks. If Jogia's performance is great and he captures the essence of Leon, then who cares if he doesn't look exactly like he does in the games? Get over the superficial bs and enjoy the film, or not, based on whether or not it's a good film.
@Stevebhoy Maybe it's a good thing what I'm about to bring up hasn't really been noticeably brought up by fans in the comments outside of here, but there is an obvious thing about the casting of Jill that I'm surprised hasn't blown up with fans yet since it almost always does in these cases.
I'm actually pleased with how the movie itself looks from the latest trailer. At least for the minute the trailer runs, it looks like a Resident Evil game come to life. Whether that will be considered any good or not remains to be seen, but that's exactly what I and other fans would surely want from the movie.
@GeneJacket At the end of the day it is RE. I am not expecting much because they are mashing 2 games into one movie.
After I saw "itchy tasty" I knew this is not a movie for everyone. It is for the fans as "normal" people would not understand it
Also Leon is very generic guy that is just cocky. Maybe that is why I wanted for them to copy and paste his looks from the game. As RE games are not the best games for character development

Count me in, I'm definitely going to see this!
@KilloWertz You must not have seen twitter when the first trailer dropped, the "fans" were up in arms about just about everything, most notably (and bafflingly) that, of all things to get upset over, Claire doesn't have a ponytail.
I'll go see it because I'm a Resident Evil fan and I sat through all the other movies but that trailer didn't convince me it's going to be good.
Certainly looks better and more in the spirit of RE than those awful Milla Jovovich films.
@GeneJacket Definitely not. I'm on Twitter maybe once or twice a month. That's about it, for obvious reasons like that.
Yeah, it is a bit lazy that she doesn't have a ponytail, but I didn't even think of that. It should be the least of their concerns as it at least seems like that is one of the roles they cast well.
@GeneJacket He looks like Carlos. And Jill they didnt put the effort making her look like Jill Valentine.
@GeneJacket Are you serious you make a movie on a game franchise and you find it weird that people want to see their favorite characters look like the real thing?
@Zuljaras Jill looks nothing her not even her costume such a joke.
@Flaming_Kaiser get over it
@Zuljaras ok so what you gonna do about it?
ok you got me sony i will buy this corker on Blu-ray. please let it be as cheesy as the opening to the original game. i bought the PlayStation 1 when my friend brought it round resident evil 1 and loaded omg. i had the n64 but soon as i saw resident evil i was hooked. played through resident evil while listening to type o negatives October rust album. great times! thank you
While not as bad at the initial trailer (Nothing will ever be as bad and cringe as that first trailer) this still looks like a cheap knockoff compared to the Paul W.S. Anderson movies. And that's sad that those feel superior to this.
I just cannot bring myself to entertain the idea of watching this. Thus I will make no judgements on the film when it comes out.
It's not like the games will stop existing.
@mrtennis1990 Same, I'm not expecting high tier budget quality cinema.
Lolololol looks Ok.
