Piranha Bytes has announced the sequel to its ambitious but janky 2017 RPG ELEX will launch on PlayStation 5 and PS4 on 1st March 2022. To mark the occasion, the studio has shared a look at the Collector's Edition, which will set you back a cool £139.99/$149.99. At least this one actually includes a copy of the game, though, unlike some others.
The ELEX II Collector's Edition includes:
- A physical copy of ELEX II
- 9.2" Alb figurine
- Original soundtrack
- Official artbook
- 2" Cleric Amulett keychain
- Steelbook
- Concept album by Björn Pankratz, titled Cassandra
The release date means ELEX II will release in close proximity to Elden Ring, Horizon Forbidden West, Saints Row, and Gran Turismo 7. "Magalan is in dire need of a hero. The factions are inches away from starting an open war, the world is still haunted by monsters of all different kinds and a new threat is rising, in an attempt to change the face of the planet forever — survival of mankind not included."
When we published our ELEX PS4 review back in November 2017, we praised the game's commitment to a deep role-playing experience but warned that most players likely won't ever see it. "Piranha Byte's latest has ambition, but barely any of it is realised. As far as B-tier games go, this criticism is nothing new, but when so many amazing action RPGs are already available on PS4, you can't be blamed for ignoring this seriously shoddy release," we concluded with a 4/10 rating. Let's hope this sequel does much better.

I can pretty much garantee the sequel will be "janky" too. Their focus is on the design more than the tech.
They need to change that release date. February and March are packed as is. A game like this will lose out
I actually enjoyed playing Elex but can agree that there is quite a bit to improve upon, especially the feel of the combat.
Why make a collector's edition for a game that didn't do well?
@Nepp67 they probably didn't make too many.
Elex is underrated and gets a bad wrap. It has issues but the game is still super fun and was worth putting 50+ hours into. Been waiting for the sequel since beating it years ago so this is great news!
2 weeks after Horizon Forbidden West and 1 week after Elden Ring. I guess they don't want this game to do well
@naruball most likely cause this would certainly make them less money.
@mariomaster96
This game is Elexellent 2! 😉
So it will do well
Looking forward to gameplay
I still need to play the first one, but I do hope they improved the combat at least. The original had the worst system I've ever seen lol.
Follow Greedfall's example. Simplistic but functional and quite enjoyable when there's a boss fight
I've just completed the first game and had a blast so I'll be looking forward to this title.
@Nepp67 Elex did well for a 30 man team.
I hope there is more than one face for all women in the game this time.
But in all seriousness I do enjoy Piranhabytes games, jank and all.
Surprising it's releasing so soon after Horizon, Saints Row, and Elden Ring.
Here's hoping the game still performs decently sales wise.
