When Sony first set this month's lineup of free PlayStation Plus titles live on the PS Store, it wasn't possible to upgrade The Persistence to The Persistence Enhanced on either PS5 or PS4, as we originally thought it would be. However, it looks like the company has done a bit of work overnight to enable this as The Persistence Enhanced can now be claimed for free once you've redeemed the standard PS4 version of The Persistence through PS Plus.
Take a look at the screenshot above to see how it works. You want to claim The Persistence on PS4 using your PS Plus membership, and then head into the PS Store to find The Persistence Enhanced is now labelled as a free PS4 to PS5 upgrade. Click through and hit download and away you go.
For those who don't know, The Persistence Enhanced is an upgrade on the original game with "improved lighting, UX enhancements, and raytraced rendering. Immersive haptic feedback is also supported with the DualSense controller on PS5." So, if you've got an active PS Plus subscription and haven't started The Persistence just yet, be sure to grab the upgraded PS5 version for the best experience possible. And if you have started it, just carry your progress over.

I been playing the hell out this game it’s really fun it’s basically first person Returnal.
Damn it, started this the other day. Wonder if I can import my process into the PS5 one 🤔
@render you can.
@4kgk2 Awesome thanks, I will be doing that later 😀
Does the PS5 version have its own trophy list? Is it possible to cross save and auto pop the trophies?
@Mhoney you can transfer your save but trophies doesn’t pop automatically.
Glad this got sorted. will give this a go on PS5 now 🙏
Looking forward to checking this out.
Sweet, good to know they found a workaround.
Happy days so thats 3 ps5 games this month with ps plus. Not bad at all
I was super close to buying this on Switch just the other week. Now to get the PS5 edition for free? So stoked. Have had my eye on this for ages.
So I take it its upto the publishers of the ps plus game, not Sony whether they offer a free upgrade.
That’s great news!
@vapidwolf the funny thing is Sony actually own this studio so it was weird for them not to give us the ps5 version.
Sweet. Hadn't started this yet, and had no idea there was a PS5 version. Thanks!
Both PS4 and PS5 versions no longer have the PS+ symbol for me. Does doing this upgrade change the plus license to a full license?
Thanks for letting us know! I already claimed the game.
@4kgk2 I was thinking it's more like Horace goes skiing in VR.
The ps4 version runs better then ps5 version (big FPS drops)
