Alan Wake Remastered wasn't just about bringing back an undisputed classic; it is also designed to catch PlayStation fans up with the story ahead of the newly announced sequel. Alan Wake II has been officially announced at The Game Awards, coming to PS5 in 2023. The famous writer returns in a teaser trailer, which we've embedded above.
It will be Fortnite developer Epic Games lending a helping hand on the publishing side of things while Remedy takes up the usual reins on development. Sam Lake describes the sequel as "survival horror" and more information will be shared in the summer.

Best announcement of the night. Just my opinion though.
Never thought this would happen. Now they need to just bring back Legacy of Kain and I can die happy.
Whoop! Whoop! I remember either getting "Red Dead Redemption" or "Alan Wake"( with the book and development of). So now I can play the sequel, on my favorite console. & Yes, I choose Alan Wake...
This looks incredible! I cannot wait!
If it's not first person, i'm in.
@somnambulance I don‘t get what people love about those trailers. They don‘t show anything of what matters! Compare this to the first trailer of Metroid Dread
Stupidly decided playing the remaster of the first one was a good idea (lucky I could get a refund) on Ps5 as I’d never played it before. Dunno what was worse, the remaster of the game itself. Once again reminded me why things from the past should stay there
This was one of the happiest surprises to come out of the Game Awards for me, looking forward to gameplay.
@Nem None of Remedy's precious games have been first person, so you shouldn't have anything to worry about.
So hyped and have been wanting this for over 10 years, best thing about the show.
Was one of the best announcements tonight
@Nem I don't think there's been a Remedy game that's first person so far, so that would be a bit unexpected
"The PS5 was in my basket. My hand fumbled with the mouse, feverishly aiming for the checkout button. I clicked. And that was when the scalper struck..."
Woohoo! This is some of the best gaming news I've heard in ages. Cannot wait.
I really hope they can make the gameplay as good as Control as it would be great to get a continuation of the story but with better gameplay than AW remastered had.
super happy about this. the original has it's problems, but it's the closest we've been to a high budget Twin Peaks game. this time round the vibe seems more scary than mysterious, but i can dig that too
Eh, I just played Control and found it average, and that even had fun combat as opposed to AW, so I guess Remedy's games are just not for me.
@Max_the_German Plain and simple, it’s exciting to get a trailer for a sequel to a game you love, regardless of what it is, and to see the tone to expect in the future game.
Didn't care for much else during The Game Awards but this is awesome. One of my top 5 favorite games on the 360.
Super excited for this.
People must have gone crazy when this came up during the show. I would have 😀
what!? wheres barry you cant have a teaser video without barry! ah come on al! 😂 so cant wait to play this!
THANK YOU for this guys really awesome news
@Gamer83 Horizon forbidden west, suicide squad kill the justice league, elden ring, wonder woman, forspoken etc didn't interest you?
Horizon Forbidden West and Forspoken are absolutely among my most-wanted games, but they were already known about. From Software's games are hit or miss for me so not overly interested in Elden ring. Suicide Squad is meh and while I'm happy a Wonder Woman game is being made the development studio behind it has me concerned over how good it will be.
@Max_the_German If they show a Legend of Dragoon of Dino Crisis CGI trailer i will go mental.
