Cities: Skylines has been around a good while now, hasn't it? The city-building sim arrived on PlayStation 4 in 2017, and it's been steadily added to ever since with free and premium updates. The latest of these is just around the corner; Airports makes a safe landing on 25th January 2022.
So, what's this expansion all about? As you might guess, the new DLC allows you to construct an airport in your custom-made metropolis, bolting it into your network of bus and train routes to allow travellers to go international. You'll start off fairly small, but if your airport proves a hit, your options will grow and you'll be able to build it out and allow larger aircraft to come and go.
It seems like a smart addition to the game, and will give long-time players something new to toy with. Are you still playing Cities: Skylines? Are you interested in the Airports DLC? Prepare for takeoff in the comments section below.

I really should get into this game, I bought it years ago but never played it yet. I love these type of games, too!
I started this game but never gave I enough time !
Just started playing again. I'm terrible at city planning, but I do make some fun crazy cities. A great zen game.
Any word on whether this is free or paid for dlc ?
I love the game but despite best intentions my cities just slide out of control all too quickly. It means I don't play it as much as I expected to.
This expansion sounds like a great fit for the game but alas I know the above would scupper any dreams I have for yet another city!
I love Cities skylines, I just wish that they allowed you to build any sized road from the get go (in normal play, sandbox mode you can do from what I remember, but trophies are disabled). Thousands of cars and trucks coming off the highway/freeway into a small one lane road causes havoc, and I end up demolishing half the city once I've got full roads and starting from scratch with a decent road system
Oh, also I wish they had in game settings to let me dim the HUD, it's a constant burn in scare
The music is awesome, and I love the stellaris track that they added lyrics too. Wish they had version in stellaris.
Does this play better on the PS5 does anyone know, it got a bit laggy if you had a massive city towards the end on my PS4pro?
@FatallyYours117 It's not enhanced for PS5, but the frame rate is stable late into your city's life on the console.
Also you should be able to build two lane roads at the freeway off-ramp now, at least that's how I remember it from when I last played a couple months back.
@PanFriedSoup cheers, I've started downloading it, so I'll check it out and see how it copes with my late game saves from the pro!
@FatallyYours117 I had to install it on the PS5 drive to get rock solid framerate even when the city it huge.
As for the DLC…it’ll be interesting to see how this works on a console since you’re limited to 9 city tiles and don’t get airports until half or more of the tiles are all used up, leaving you with limited area for building.
@Dalejrfanfreak good to hear. The frame rate issues were part of the reason I always dumped my cities before getting the 1000 night trophy or whatever it is, it was painful to deal with mid to late game
@Jmck87 It'll 100% be a paid for DLC. But that's ok.
@PULSE-88 yeah some of them have been free but you get your moneys worth with the dlc in this game usually
