Here’s an interesting little tidbit coming out of Saudi Arabia: God of War Ragnarok has been rated for release. Typically games don’t get classified until they’re close to launching, so this seems early for the anticipated sequel. Meta data scraped from Sony’s servers suggests the platform holder may be targeting a September release date for Kratos’ next Norse outing, although that’s probably a placeholder and this rating implies that the PlayStation 5 and PS4 title may arrive earlier.
Officially, the Japanese giant has only committed to a 2022 launch date, and it’ll almost certainly focus on Horizon Forbidden West and Gran Turismo 7 during the first few months of the year. How far behind do you expect God of War Ragnarok to be? Butcher a god in the comments section below.

At the very earliest, I'll place my bet on late June.
April. Horizon was rated like a month ago. Last one was April to I believe.
There goes any chance of Kratos and Mimir getting it on then.
@RevGaming not a chance dude, cmon.
Horizon, GT and God of War in 2 months? Be real my guy.
God of War will be earlier end of May. More likely latter end of 2022.
@Jacko11 Sony usually releases games when they’re ready rather than trying to space them out. Ghost (July 17, 2020 ) and the last of us part two (June 19, 2020) release less than a month apart. Other than them not arriving on the same month it’s pointless to try and guess based on the release schedule from other studios.
@nessisonett Or even any chance to bring back nudity to the franchise...
@Jacko11 3 months.
Ghost and Tlou2 were back to back and they sold greatly. There's nothing in April anyways
Late 2022? Lol. With cod, suicide squad, gotham knights, hogwarts legacy possibly near by it? Plus stuff that hasn't been announced, like a re4 remake etc. Ff16? April-May sounds better.
If you don’t already have one 2022 will be the year you’ll want to get a Ps5. These exclusives will look and play so much better on one. Not to mention the lightning load times. Answering the question though I’d say towards the end of this year, proly September or October
I don't expect to see Rangarok out until late 2022 to space it out between Horizon and Gran Turismo not to mention it would make for a great holiday title for Sony which they were leaking in 2021 but for all we know this could come out in the middle of the year. Personally for me I don't see it being ready until late 2022 and I'm fine with that.
If they release it in April/May (which I don’t think is likely without an announced date at this point), that would have to mean they got more big stuff coming later in the year, right? That would make 2022 absolutely crazy for gaming.
I think the placeholder date means they’re targeting Q3
@kingbreww given that the 3 big games from Sony are all cross platform I'd say 2023 (& Spider-Man 2) will be the year to pick up a PS5 personally.
Saudi Arabia? That’s interesting. Considering GOW series was banned for so many years there.
Every since the 2018 release, GOW got unbanned apparently in Saudi Arabia
@Kopite no way. All these good games coming out this year playing on anything less than a Ps5 is such an inferior gaming experience. To each their own though 👌
@kingbreww i think ps4 pro does a pretty good job compared with ps5.
Kratos the g.o.a.t. 🐐 👑 a upcoming masterpiece is coming .definetly a game of the year nominee.this game is gonna be one of the best games ever made.just like god of war 2018. Word up son
@kingbreww you'll be having a smoother, better looking & quicker loading experience none of which bother me all that much, the story & gameplay isn't changing between in the two wanna play and that's what matters. I don't see spending £450 to play games I can already play worth it but each there to their own like you say.
Very interesting, I figured September would be most likely as GoW Ragnarok is likely the PS4's swansong, Sony rarely releases games in October - December unless connected to new hardware releases and finding a PS5 in holiday 2022 is probably going to be difficult. But this rating suggests much earlier like April/May 2022.
@Grumblevolcano I'm still leaning towards September - Saudi Arabia was always going to rate this 18 - but you've always been good w/ the calendar math so I suppose May is doable. April still seems to soon, both after HFW and not to have a date announced yet that they can delay once. Unless you think the game can release w/o a delay? Guess it has to happen to a game eventually. 😂
Only way this is coming first half of the year is if Sony has unannounced big hitters planned for second half of the year.
They won't go two years without a big title for the Christmas period and will likely want something big to go up against Starfield.
This will be a September to October release imo
A rating for God Of War can be given with 2 eyes closed and a hand tied at the back... it will always be R/Mature/18+.
Has nothing to do with the game's release date, which will be in Spring 2023 (I've already justified this claim in a comment posted here: https://www.pushsquare.com/features/soapbox-sonys-first-party-exclusives-will-shine-once-again-in-2022#comment6737461 )
@rjejr Chocobo GP was announced as a "2022" release window in the late September Nintendo Direct and then in mid December it got a release date of March 10th 2022. This is an example of how the vague release window of just a year doesn't necessarily mean it's far away.
I'm still leaning towards later on but Sony could technically have a GoW Ragnarok State of Play on March 3rd (Ratchet State of Play was a day before Returnal launched) and have a more specific release date announced then.
So glad these next gen titles are releasing on PS4 and give me no real reason to waste money on a PS5. 😁
@Shinnok789 Whilst i can sympathise with your points on previous article, i wouldnt rule out September - they dropped Spider-man in September 2018 afterall. It wont be October-December though, i agree.
Sony do seem to favour spring for their bigger releases now - but i can see spring being earmarked for Final Fantasy 16 at this point.
I think it will only release late of the year. Like november ou dezember
@clianvXAi I had a pro before I got my Ps5. It’s nowhere near as good
@kingbreww They'll play better on PS5 for sure, but as someone who isn't interested in upgrading to a 4K set yet, I feel like I'm still fully in the loop with a PS4. These games were designed to run well on last-gen hardware, after all.
@nessisonett It's for the best. Even if they had a thing, Mimir just being a head would make their options for consummating a relationship somewhat... limited.
@nessisonett How did you imagine that? I mean, I guess it works, but it would be a bit awkward. If that's a mini game I hope they allow you to press the button instead of mashing it during the QTE.
@Octane @Ralizah I mean… given he’s a head, the options aren’t that limited 😂
@Ralizah it isn't only for 4k.... it is for the 60fps, which makes a lot of difference when playing games. Someone that tells you otherwise, it is just delusional.
@Ken_Kaniff hey! no one cares what you do, so move on... Also, at the end of the day, you will still end up "wasting" you money on a PS5 in order to play games like Spider-man 2 and Wolverine (plus more) when they released...
@rpg2000 60fps is better, but definitely not essential for most games. GoW2018 and HZD both felt great at 30fps. If these games are as well-optimized for the hardware as those were, they'll still be great experiences on PS4.
I'd expect it to release in winter because the start of Ragnarok is a long winter
@Ralizah you don’t have a Ps5 or a 4K tv? Damn son
@Kopite Nah. 2022 with gow and hfw plus multiplatform games is enough to must want a ps5. Suicide Squad is next gen only.
@Rob_230 They went almost 7 years straight with no xmas period games. Almost because Death Stranding exists.
They don't care about that period. That's multiplatform territory.
@Shinnok789 dude. Your speculation isn't a fact. The game was announced for 2021 and cory said they didn't want to take as long as the first one and sony has more money now and they have established assets and ideas.
@Ralizah I disagree. You will notice it when you play ratchet rift apart. 60fps is the norm. 4k isn't tho.
@RevGaming it's not enough for me personally of it makes you want one thats great but I'm not for paying to play games I can already play. Im not really that fussed about Suicide Squad, rather play Gotham Knights, but if I'm desperate to play it I could do that on my Series S.
@Kopite you already have a next gen system. Why did you say what you said then?
@RevGaming yeah I got a series s when I upgraded my phone if that hadn't been the case I wouldn't have it. And my point still stands I wouldn't buy a console when I own one that can already play the games I want.
@lolwhatno
Blowing peoples heads off is all good but how dare you show a nipple am i right?
@Kopite but your only reason to get a ps5 then, would be the exclusives, which I thought you were talking about multiplatform too.
Would you get a ps5 or xsx next?
@PegasusActual93 I think it's normal to want to see a nipple irl over heads exploding and wanting to see head exploding in a game over an uncomfortable fake nipple.
@RevGaming PS5 & it'll be my main machine as Playstation has always been, I wouldn't have got a XSX it was always gonna be Series S because its gonna be an exclusive console. I wasn't in the market for an Xbox and I was pretty shocked when it arrived as a gift with my phone upgrade, unlike the PS5 I didn't own an Xbox One so its given me the chance to catch up on the few games I've missed out on.
@Grumblevolcano GoWR State of Play, whenever it is, should have the release date. And I suppose it could be at any time, only a couple of days notice for those, but I do think they'll want to give HFW some selling room before putting all the focus on GoW. It's not really a Returnal and R&C situation.
I guess my biggest question is the amount of time between the SoP and release. Has to be at least 2 months I would think. So, let HFW release for a couple of weeks, SoP early March, GoW in May? 🤷♂️
Are they selling GoW pre-orders yet? Has to be 5 or 6 versions, no? PS4 - $60, PS5 - $70, PS4/5 - $80, Deluxe digital $90, physical $100. Maybe a $300 model version. Who knows, maybe an impossible to find PS5 themed bundle for $550? Gow isn't going to be a "releasing right after this SoP" type of game, way too much $ at stake.
If Sony is thinking PS5 bundle they may delay a finished game until they can make them.
@Kopite Oh ok. Now you made sense. Happy New Years btw
@Ralizah Glad to see you mention the 4k TV. I wouldn't have gotten a PS5 w/o one. Sure SSD load times are nice, but if you aren't interested in spending on a new TV why spend on a new console? I've played a lot of Sackboy on both PS4 and PS5, and watched my kid play a lot of Immortals Fenyx Rising on both, and while the 2' larger TV w/ HDR does make a difference, I can't really tell between the 2 consoles. R&C does look really sweet but not $1,500 sweet. Don't think I could be convinced a PS5 is worth it w/o a 4k TV, and w/ all the dual releases PS4 has some life left in it yet.
@RevGaming happy new year my dude
Nudity and sexual stuff in games is a little weird, not because we don’t want it irl but because it looks weird in the game. Nobody wanna see plastic wax tiddies
That's great, wake me up when we have a confirmed release date.
@clianvXAi That is simply not true. Ps5 is a true generation leap to the ps4 pro. Have you got or played on a ps5? I have a ps5, and it is quiet with quick loading. You just cannot say the pro is as good as the ps5.
@lolwhatno
I just find it comical that our society is so backwards that gruesome violence which is completely unnatural in modern society is something we are totally desensitized to but any nudity is offensive when nudity is not only natural but used to be completely accepted in the past hence why so much art used to have explicit nudity.
@PegasusActual93
I'm not saying everything has to have nudity or sex in it but saying video games shouldn't or that it doesn't belong in it is stupid as games are art just like any other form of expression and just because you don't like something doesn't mean it shouldn't exist. (Not saying you think that just that most do)
@Shinnok789
That trailer they released several months back showed the game as being borderline completely finished. There's no way something that polished is another year and a half away.
@Olmaz And that's bad because ???????
Excellent news, I thought it would be an autumn game but appears it will be much sooner 👌
Cool. It isn’t really important which month because first half of the year is already packed for PS gamers.
It’s gonna be a great year for gaming really. 👍
@Z390 Well, it's always good to have diverse content in any art, and God of War was one of the rare AAA franchise (and even some of the rare games at all) that didn't shy to include nudity, until the last game.
@rjejr "Sure SSD load times are nice, but if you aren't interested in spending on a new TV why spend on a new console?"
Exclusives, which next-gen is sorely lacking at this point.
I understand upgrading if you're a PS fanboy and only play on that platform, but, for me, it's a secondary console. No reason to drop hundreds of dollars on PS5 until its library is actually up to snuff.
Besides, my PC already has SSD load times.
@rpg2000 Dont be so butt hurt over a comment guy. I was thanking Sony for not doing many next gen titles so I dont have to buy a PS5, and yes when they do start making next gen games in 3 to 4 years ill consider it then. Probably will be able to get one used or cheap by then. 👍
@lolwhatno
I'm arguing for art not being suppressed because some random person says they dont like something. How is seeing someone naked in a video game make them more prone to dressing less. That's like saying someone ripping a guys spine in mortal kombat will make you want to rip peoples spines out in real life. I just don't see how someone being naked is somehow much worse than people getting chunks blown out of them and don't understand that mindset at all.
@kingbreww I dont have them whats the use if i dont have a PS5 yet. The big plus i get a way better 4K tv at a fraction of the price with a lot more extra's. I mean a €399 4K tv sucks. I learned it the hard way quality comes at a price.
@Flaming_Kaiser absolutely and especially when it comes to tech. Especially cos the tv has to have a hdmi 2.1 port to plug the Ps5 in to so you get the best visuals etc from it. Dunno if the cheaper ones even do that. Upscaling is really good though. And as good as they are anyway I still find Apple TV to have a much more pleasant interface. Even than my top of the range set. I’m just somewhat of a tech addict tho lmao
PlayStation Database seen to have leaked God of War Ragnarök is gonna release in septembre(septembre 30th)
https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2021/12/playstation-database-has-god-of-war-ragnarok-set-for-september-2022-release-date
@lolwhatno I don't like pointless nudity in my games, and it's not where I go for sexual content, but there's nothing inherently wrong with these things. I'm agree that it would be nice to see clearer labelling, and better enforcement of age restrictions, but who are you to say that these things have no place in video games?
Nudity and sexual content is already much more tightly controlled than in TV and films. There's room for content which you don't want to consume, as long as it's not doing any harm, for which your examples are quite frankly laughable.
I'm sure there's a cultural element here which I'll be missing, as you've said before you're from Bahrain, but generally a lack of representation makes something taboo, which makes it more desirable for teenagers who want to act out.
Edit: I don't know whether you're still a kid yourself, I don't know whether you're asexual or sex-repulsed, and I'm not going to say there's anything wrong with any of that, but your attitude to this topic is kinda weirdly simplistic, and I've I struggle with as a 34yo married man who's been playing video games since I was 8. There's plenty of adult content that was around when I was young, but I never saw it, because it wasn't for me. I came across a load of it as an adult and found most of it tacky and uninteresting, but I'm not going to argue it didn't deserve to exist.
@lolwhatno
To clarify: I found pornography, I didn't find adult games. I also have a sex-positive attitude. It's natural, it's healthy, and as long as everyone's talking precautions and nobody is doing anything they're doing to regret, it's a good time. There have always been, and always will be, horny teens, regardless of what media is out there, because that's an age where the body is changing and starting to produce the hormones responsible for sexual attraction and arousal. We have to keep these people safe from abuse, but I don't think they need to be shielded from knowing what's going on with their bodies, or the wider context of human experience; I believe that doing so is actively harmful for their development.
I've perhaps misinterpreted some of your posts, because you've stated your opinions as fact, and I assumed they were meant to be read as such, or at least read as common opinion, speaking for everyone.
Pornography has probably been around for as long as people. We have found petroglyphs going back four millennia depicting orgies and such, and erotic depictions of people going back thirty millennia, bearing in mind that this is just what we've found of what has survived. It has been more taboo in don't eras and has been effected by cultural norms and rules such as bans on the depiction of people, which only drive it underground. I think anyone who's looked at the history of pornography will know that it's not some irrefutable evil. Nudity and the implication of offscreen sex aren't even porn though, so perhaps this is a pointless topic to try and link.
I would guess, although I know little of your country beyond stereotypes of religious conservatism, that culture had a lot to do with why you found it traumatic to come across porn when you were 13. At that age you were almost certainly most of the way through puberty, you'd probably had at least one wet dream, and you were probably ashamed of that too, given what you post here. I don't think that this even from your childhood has anything to do with the general topic of nudity and sexual content in videogames. I think that if you'd seen more sex-positive writing and content, it probably wouldn't have scarred you as it did.
@lolwhatno
But why should they never be in video games. What makes one thing okay and the rest not. I'm not advocating that everything should or that everything has a justifiable reason to have nudity in it, i just dont see how one thing to you is okay but the rest isnt. Let me word it like this; If kids shouldnt see pornography which i agree with then they definently shouldnt be seeing peoples heads being blown off with a shotgun either. Maybe kids shouldnt be looking at mature rated content to begin with. But just because there are bad parents who don't keep their kids away from that kind of content doesnt mean a developer shouldn't be allowed to put that kind of content in their games at all. Cyberpunk had nudity and sex in it while approached very maturely whereas the original god of war games had it in a way that could be considered pointless or even juvenile. Whether they have the justification for implementing it or lack thereof doesnt mean they shouldn't be allowed to. Free expression and all that.
Also every video game cover says what content is in the game including nudity and sexual content. It's called the ESRB in the Americas or PEGI in European territories or CERO in Asian countries
How is a developer supposed to react to that? By compromising on their intended vision? Just because a kid might possibly access your content doesnt mean you shouldn't be allowed to make said content. The thing that just gets to me about this conversation is that you seem to think video games should be more restricted for content compared to any other medium. Does something having nudity or sexual content in it always make sense? No. But does that mean you shouldnt be allowed to put that kind of content in your work? Also no.
@lolwhatno
As with many things: in moderation. It can be an incredibly healthy way to discover your sexuality, and should be everyone's first sexual experience, as well as, for AMAB people, having benefits for prostate health. Im addition to all this, it releases endorphins which are both a natural painkiller and an antidepressant.
As with many things (drink, drugs, gambling, video games, etc), if you're doing it too much there's probably something behind that, and you should seek help.
As for "children shouldn't know about sex", that's also something I disagree on. Children who are abused often don't know what's going on. When they have the necessary language and understanding, they will often tell their parents, a teacher, someone they trust, and the abuse stops. When they reach puberty, then without knowledge they're no less likely to experiment, it's just more likely to have long term negative repercussions.
I'm guessing by the discussion we've had so far that bringing the welfare of LGBTQ+ children into this isn't going to yield any shared understanding, so I'm not going to go there.
@kingbreww I had a expensive TV from Sony at the start of the PS3. But you really see the difference in every way from the quality in the picture up to the finish of the TV. So in the end ill just wait for the PS5 to be more easy available ill get a better TV at a lower price and money its as simple as money i need to pay my bills.
@lolwhatno Sorry, yes, AMAB = Assigned Male At Birth, which generally means that without surgery, probably has a prostate. I probably should have just said people who have a prostate.
Endorphins are fundamentally a good thing. The problem is that in addiction things get out of balance. I'd question whether something is an addiction, a dependency or a habit, because often the first is applied to the latter two, and does a lot of damage. If it's not hurting anyone, it's probably fine. If you're dependent, think about kicking it before it becomes an issue. The addiction narrative has become so toxic you see people calling diabetics "insulin addicts" and that's just messed up.
Yes, people shouldn't learn about sex or sexuality through porn. I think as long as people already know what they're looking at, it's pretty harmless, and it can certainly help people figure out what they're in to, and what they're not. As for people experimenting, you just have to look at the difference in rates of teenage pregnancy and STIs between places where abstinence-only is taught, versus places with safe-sex teaching: people have needs, and they're going to attempt to meet those needs whether they know how to safely, or not.
[Edit: I know that in some cultures teenage marriage is common. This seems to me like a sticking plaster over the issue, as there's no way a child is mature enough to make an informed decision over what is supposed to be a lifetime commitment. It seems pretty obvious to me that "we can't stop them, so make them get married" is a poor substitute for education]
I wasn't going to discuss the welfare of LGBTQ+ children, not because I assumed you're homophobic, but because it's a tricky subject to do justice and I'm not seeing anything in what you've posted so far to suggest we'd agree on the fundamentals. I will admit I know less about Islam than I do of Christianity or Judaism, but I know that as with the other Abrahamic religions there's a core of teaching, around which there are many sets of conflicting interpretations which have splintered into competing sects, but most of them are supposed to advocate respect, tolerance, love for your fellow human, and even as an atheist I have a lot of respect for that.
@lolwhatno I'm not going to promote pornography, I just think it has its place, and is inevitable. It's a huge stretch though to say that anything in mainstream videogames is pornography.
As for children, I'm a huge fan of the Dutch model. Children are taught from as young as 4 an age-appropriate amount, with the teaching revolving around relationships. They have one of the lowest rates of teen pregnancy, and on average people there start to have sex later, and find their first sexual experiences more fulfilling than in countries where the bare minimum is taught, much later, and with an emphasis on abstinence. That seems like an ideal set of outcomes, no?
While your description of Islam isn't entirely in line with discussions I've had with others (I spent a lot of time early in adulthood trying to figure out what I believed in, which involved talking to lots of people from different faiths) I can say is very closely aligned with my own beliefs. I don't believe that the various religious texts are the words of a deity, because that way I'd expect more consensus, but I do believe they're the work of great philosophers trying to make sense of the world that lived in. In some ways the world has changed, and in others it is much the same. The core tenet is to love and respect one another, to treat each other with grace, and it's my belief that the idea of heaven, is the ideal which we can work towards right here on earth for those who come after us, if only we treat each other with kindness (which isn't necessarily the same with being nice, or civil). If there is a deity I hope that, with the lack of other evidence before me, they'll judge me on my thoughts and actions, and that if it's a deity I'd see fit to worship, that this is how they'd wish to be worshipped anyway.
I'm not saying I don't care about children just that you shouldn't bend over backwards for them when creating content just because kids could possibly access your content. That goes for any explicit content, violence, language, drug use, nudity etc. We shouldn't say one explicit thing is okay while the other isn't just because of your specific worldview and you shouldn't have the authority to dictate what content should be allowed in things just because you don't like it. Once somebody can control what is made in a society based on their personal beliefs that eventually leads to dangerous societies like fascism, totalitarianism, theocracies, etc. I just don't like people thinking they can control because of their specific moral, ethical or religious beliefs.
@lolwhatno
The difference with the incest and suicide thing is that those happen in real life. And those do have ramifications in real life just like real life violence and sexual content. Doesn't mean you shouldn't be allowed to portray incest or suicide in fiction. This whole discussion has been about freedom to portray things so no you shouldn't bend over backwards for someone's sensibilities when portraying subjects. As for real life actions and what should be allowed well that's an entirely different rabbit hole that I am not willing to go down. My whole point is that I am wholeheartedly against any censorship regardless of medium, movies, tv, games, music, it's all irrelevant censorship is a very dangerous thing and as someone who has looked at human history extensively I know of just how badly censorship and a sense of moral, ethical or religious superiority can go horribly horribly wrong. Just look Fascists, the crusades, the holy wars, the witch trials, countless acts of terrorism from all ideologies, etc. All started because someone decided what they didn't like something, either a piece of media or a worldview or even a simple idea and that they would punish whoever possessed such. I'm not saying you are any of those just the consensus of "I am right, you are wrong, therefore you must be censored" is such a disturbing trend I am seeing all over todays society and it scares me.
@lolwhatno A 9yo could stumble across a lot of things, there's been a lot worse in 18-rated films for many decades, and you can easily find clips on YouTube. Should we burn/erase all copies of those too?
It's fine that we make stuff that isn't for everyone, and it's up to parents and teachers to guide children away from inappropriate content, and deal with the fallout when something falls through the cracks.
[Edit: we're also a long way away from being able to render something like Irradiated in real time]
@lolwhatno
I am saying I am against going against artistic depictions yes. The burden of restricting content should never fall on any individual or government. It relies on parents doing their job and shielding their kids from content at their own discretion. We have content warnings and if the parent ignores those that is on them. Doesn't mean the content creator should be punished for it.
How is an artist supposed to stop children from seeing their content? Only way that would realistically happen is banning the artist from making anything that would potentially offend somebodies sensibilities (so basically not be able to create anything) which I am very much against. Like I said we have content warnings, we have parental controls, and we have parents who need to monitor what their kids do and restrict them from content the parent finds inappropriate (what they consider appropriate or not varies, and not all children are the same level of maturity or intellect). So yeah I don't see a middle ground that is in any way realistic. Either parents do their job and people are free to create the content they want or everybody gets censored. There is no real middle ground there. I am not sure how much longer you would be willing to keep this discussion going but I have said pretty much everything I can on this topic. Thank you for this conversation I have enjoyed it and especially a thank you for being very civil and not resorting to insults like so many do.
@lolwhatno
Like I said we have content warnings, we have parental controls and settings on pretty much anything including the internet, streaming, video game consoles etc. So i really don't see what else you can do aside from punishing a creator for making adult centric content. I am married but don't have any kids yet (maybe someday I don't know) and most of the content I enjoy is mature rated and I have every right to enjoy those things and also shouldn't have it taken from me just because children exist. It's up to parents to use those controls given to them and it's not up to the government or a religion to parent your kids for you and especially not their job to determine what gets made or not. Our feelings on pornography or any other content is irrelevant here. I just don't want anybody censored or punished because their work offends someone. People wanting stuff banned because it offends them is so prevalent now in todays societies amongst all ideologies now and that terrifies me because I don't want to live in a world where that goes to it's most likely conclusion.
@lolwhatno I didn't mean it to come across as me thinking you were wrong about your own religion, more that it seems like there's room for interpretation. It's just where you get to the idea of it not caring whether someone believes in Allah, I've usually heard it more as "any monotheistic deity is a face of Allah".
As for atheist vs agnostic, I'm not sure this is a dichotomy. Atheism is about not believing in a god while agnosticism is about not believing it's possible to know whether a god exists. I've spoken to plenty of agnostic jews over the years, so I'm not sure it's contradictory to call myself an agnostic atheist (and often do to distance myself from people like Dawkins, who have the arrogance to claim certainty over much that is false, let alone that which is unknowable). I'm sure there are other religions which aren't incompatible with agnosticism too, but many Christians I've told of my agnosticism try to get me to go to church, as if I'm a halfway-there target for conversion, rather than someone who's probably thought about it much more than they ever have 🤷
As for proving your point RE availablity of content that's not child-appropriate, I'd say the opposite. This stuff exists, and it's up to those raising children to take care, not those creating art. Whether art is pornography and pornography is a complex and deep topic which I'm not going to explore other than to say that in my opinion there's a difference, and I'm not going to debate it
@lolwhatno Sure, adult content shouldn't be on YouTube Kids. I think there's a difference though between having spaces that are for kids and moderating what's available elsewhere. The majority of the human population ~80% are adults, and for those who raise kids, they're only kids for so long. There are sites kids probably shouldn't have access to, especially without adult supervision, but I strongly believe it's up to the parents to enforce that. There are plenty of tools and parental controls already out there, and it's up to the parents to decide their approach. This is part of what people sign up for when they decide to become parents, and to say otherwise takes away from freedoms of both parent and child.
I think that the current state of the web is a bit of a mess. It used to be an open platform with no real regulation or interoperability. With the rise of social networks it has become much more closed off in a way that benefits your agenda. I'd like to see standards for a new web which recaptures what once was while keeping that which is useful about the current model. There's no reason why this couldn't include metadata about who a particular site, or piece of content, was for, in a standardised way that allows for federated experiences. It has gone from being a place for libertarian nerds, to a place for corporations, and we need to get to a place where it's for people again, but this time for everyone.
RE needing to acknowledge existence of a god, that looks like a distinction without a difference from where I sit. I'm happy to respect beliefs other than mine, but if mine is somehow wrong (which barring an otherwise inexplicable miracle, is unknowable), it's not the believers who were correct I need to worry about, but the deity. I didn't get that deep into Islam because at the time when I was figuring out my beliefs I was in an area where there aren't many Muslims. I was at university, and spoke to many Christians of various types, some of whom were off to do missionary work in their holidays. Many had read the Bible, but hadn't really tried to think about what things within it actually mean. They'd pick and choose verses to make a point where there was another which contradicted them entirely, and didn't apply any sort of reasoning, instead just accepting it as gospel truth and trying to make the world fit the text. My experience with followers of Judaism is that most forms thereof encourage questioning, and that speaking to people who knew the Torah felt like mutually musing about the state of the world rather than an attempt at conversion. Most of my conversations about Islam have taken place online, and it's just not the same. I think that mostly the thing that stopped me from exploring deeper into Islam, was having explored Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism pretty thoroughly, and delved a little into Islam and Hinduism, and come to my own conclusions. It feels ridiculous to think that a being, or set of beings, with the power to create everything we see around us, including a civilisation of over 7 billion people just on this world, would care what any one of those people believe and not provide strong evidence of their existence. Therefore whether there's a deity, deities, or nothing out there, what matters is what we do with our lives and what effects other people. The best way to go about that seems to be to seek our own understanding of the world and the people in it, and avoid dogma, where it's all so incompatible between systems of belief that at least the majority of it is wrong, if not all. By doing my part to try and leave the world a better place than I found it I can be proud of my legacy whether there's anybody taking notes or not.
I think the best way to explain is this: at 12 I was studying the basics of how things worked and was willing to believe anything. By 16 I was so certain in my understanding of maths and sciences that I thought I could figure out anything. At 18 I knew that things were more complicated, and that there are some things I will never figure out, but I knew that some things were definitely wrong. When I tell someone I'm agnostic they seem to assume that in terms of my journey of spiritual understanding, I'm at the stage of that 12 year old, and try to fill my head with their beliefs. When I tell them I'm an atheist they seem to see me as the 16 year old. In reality most of the theists I've spoken to seem to get to that 16 year old stage and stop because the certainly of knowing that what they believe it correct feels comforting, while a few continue to question and learn, and come to their own understanding whether it's within, or outside of that system of belief. Uncertainty is often taken as a lack of knowledge, rather than an understanding of complexity. I'd maybe like asking a carpenter hour long it will take to make something. The beginner will tell you they don't know. The journeyman will give you their best estimate. The master will tell you that it depends.
@Olmaz Sex and nudity is completely unnecessary in entertainment, unless the whole point revolves around it, unnecessary sex and nudity make people uncomfortable, the last of us part 2 would have been better if they removed those stupid sex scenes and the game would have been the same
This whole argument about "sex and ***** is part of art" is the most ***** statement ever, and is being spoken by sex deviants who want to be erotic by everything.
what does a game about taking your revenge on gods have to do with sex anyway ???!!!
@Z390 Before engaging in any kind of conversation, I'd like to make sure I understand something : do you agree that everything you've said in your last comment is your subjective opinion, and in no way something that should be considered "true" or even "objective"?
If you agree with that statement, we can share both our opinions, knowing we will disagree and have different points of view, but that this window on the mind of someone who thinks differently will enrich our own knowledge.
If you disagree, and think that some of the things you've said (or everything, for that matter) are to be considered as objectively true and should be accepted as such by others (me included), then I guess conversation is pointless, and could even become toxic.
