The arcade racer genre, outside of a select couple of franchises exclusive to other platforms, has effectively died. Poor sales during the PlayStation 3 and early PS4 era put an end to many of Sony’s efforts, and a number of third-party franchises have gone the same way. GRID Legends may be your best bet in 2022 when it comes to powerslides on PlayStation next year, then.
To be fair, this series of “highlight reel” gameplay clips looks really good. We get a good look at a London circuit, as well as some multi-discipline events, featuring trucks going up against dune buggies and the like. It all looks chaotic enough to get our attention, and while the footage is restricted to just 1080p at 30 frames-per-second, you can tell this will be a looker.
For more on the game, you can watch an extended video based on the same footage here through the link.

Gran Turismo need to do a 'GT Festivale' series to compete with Horizon. They'd also get more than two games out a decade 😛 Maybe Sony could put it to some of those support studios they've recently acquired, since the dev for Forza Motorsport doesn't make the Horizon series themselves.
All these racers just come and go and just keeps getting painfully obvious (as if it wasn't) how much of an utterly stupid move it was for Sony to let go Evolution.
These games just don't even come close to Motorstorm or Driveclub. There's always something that just feels off
@PlayNation5
That would've been the smart thing to do. Sony had an immensely talented studio for just that, but they let them go of course.
I got some, ahem, mileage out of the 2019 soft reboot, so I may give this a look. Also, surely Dirt 4 is an arcade racer, and that seemed to do fairly well. Still, I'd love to see some classic arcade racer franchises dusted off and given a fresh coat of paint. A part of me still expects the first game I pop into a new Playstation console to be the latest iteration of Ridge Racer. Please Namco, bring back Reiko Nagase one last time!
As far as PlayStation is concerned, Dirt 5 is a brilliant arcade racer.
I'm a lot more excited by that than GT7. I love arcade racing games, and this one looks to be very fun!
GRID is coded by Codemasters, isn't it? Wonder if Codemasters Evo will get a look in at this? Yes, that's Evolution that was bought up by Codemasters due to Sony's stupidity.
GRID Autosport was one of the best racers on the PS3 era (nothing tops Motorstorm) but it appeared shortly AFTER the launch of the PS4 - talk about poor timing!
Studio Liverpool, Evolution, Japan Studio - doubt Sony's recent studio acquisitions can make up for the loss of these great devs due to Sony being so near-sighted.
I always liked the nemesis type system in Grid. I’d love to see a remaster as MotorStorm Apocalypse! Loved that game
Dirt 5 and onrush are brilliant..onrush looks amazing on the ps5 and is almost as good as the motorstorm series..
Well it looks better than gt7, bit that isn't saying much
Lol Sony better take these concerns seriously cause it seems a lot of folk are tired of GT's rigidness.
As a racing game fan, I still hold Grid Autosport in high regard - indeed, I still play it regularly to this day. I really hoped 2019's Grid reboot would bring back some of that Autosport feel, but I found it sadly lacking. I kind of think Legends may be more of the same, but I'm really hopeful that it turns out good.
Really enjoyed the last grid game infact I whould have platinum it if not for that round the globe trophie. That was ridicules. Looking forward to this definitely. As some here have said maybe more than the next gt game
Dirt 5 is one of the best arcade racers we ever had. Massively slept on.
Onrush is decent and so is gravel.
