When Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning was first announced, publisher THQ Nordic also confirmed that the action RPG would be getting a brand new expansion down the line. It's now been over a year since Re-Reckoning hit PlayStation 4, and honestly, we were expecting the promised expansion, Fatesworn, to be a 2022 deal. But no, it's actually going to launch this month, on the 14th December.
Given that we've seen nothing of Fatesworn in terms of gameplay footage, we certainly didn't think would be so close to release ā but here we are. The trailer above sets the stage for the DLC, but again, no gameplay. We assume that we'll actually get to see the expansion in action very soon.
Anyway, here's the official blurb: "Journey to a brand new region in Amalur, filled with snowy tundras, deep caverns, and treacherous enemies. Visit mountain villages and the ancient lakeside city of Crownhold and master the unstable power of Chaos with a new skill tree, weapons and armor. As the fabled Fatesworn, you will wage a last battle against the Niskaru and their Chaos brethren, as procedurally generated Chaos dungeons turn every region in Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning into a potential battlefield."
Interesting stuff, especially that bit about the procedurally developed dungeons. Are you looking forward to getting stuck into Fatesworn? Could you cram another Re-Reckoning playthrough in over the next two weeks or so? Bring your strongest build to the comments section below.

Excitement! Been waiting to start this until the expansion released to have one big giant game!
New content is good and all, but they will be held back by the games' engine. I loved this game when it originally came out so I jumped on the remaster as soon as it came out. Needless to say, the game hasn't aged well and kinda ruined my memory of this game (especially going for the plat). I really do wish THQ would greenlight a sequel for this game, as a full next gen game in this world is very tantalising.
I'm very tempted to play through KoA again for this expansion, but no idea where I'm going to find the time. Gamer woes.
@ShogunRok Just be prepared for a 20 second load screen every time you decide to open a door in the game (its that bad), combat is still fun though!
@ShogunRok Same. Playing FF7 Remake for the plat, and Christmas is almost here. After that there's the February releases.
I might have to let this game fade in to the back of my TV unit.
Sounds like Alyn Shir doing the silky smooth voice over! Got to listen to that again....
Looking forward to this - one of THE best PS3 RPGs turned into one of THE best PS4 RPGs and now with an expansion too! Lovely!
@GorosBat 20 seconds to open a door? Only seeing pauses of about maybe 4-5 seconds at worst? And that's on a Pro, admittedly with a quick SSD.
How much is this expansion?
THQ please fix the area/door load times. It's 16 seconds on a ps4. It's terrible in 2021 that we have to do that for every load.
Anyone who doesn't do digital only, this title has been reduced to 8.99 in game but only on PS4. Its 19.99 on XB1
@MyThoughts31 but if you own the Fate Edition you will get it free since it was included in that SKU.
@DarkSoleride i mean in game stores not the actual game. Disc release
@sanderson72
I played 58 hrs on the Pro (no SSD) and the loading screens weren't great, picked it up again this week on the PS5 and the loading is vastly improved! Will have to try and finish it before the DLC drops.
I'm around 30 hours into this and lovin' it all over again. Those chakrams are dope.
Ellen is somewhere bouncing off the ***** wall giddy as can be.
Great game, decent remaster.
About dang time for the long promised expansion. Unfortunately I have low hopes at this point, but would love to be proven wrong. This IP certainly deserves better.
It's too late. I already sold the game.
I hope they make a sequel, but if this requires the main game, i'm passing. I played it until i got sick of it.
Already played the remaster for 75 hours and Iām looking forward to playIng more content!
Happy we finally have a release date, and it's so soon!!!
Now I just need to find time to play the remaster and DLC.
