While most seasonal updates settle for a handful of new cosmetics, 2K Sports has already proven that it’s going to take things to the extreme with NBA 2K22. Therefore it’s no surprise that the basketball sim’s latest update includes new modes, music, and much, much more. Iced Out is already available now, and is meaty to say the least.
Let’s start with The City, the online hub which serves as the home for your MyPlayer. This has been given a winter theme on the PlayStation 5, complete with decorations and festive quests. If you visit the Christmas tree on 25th December, you’ll be able to claim a special gift – and don’t worry if you own a current-gen console, as there’ll be various rewards for you, too.
On new-gen systems, rooftop courts will see you playing on top of buildings in City Slam, while card collecting mode MyTeam has also received a fresh mode: Clutch Time. This introduces the four point line and is all based on rapid five-minute matches, with a 14-second shot clock and truncated overtimes. Rack up 50 wins and you’ll unlock a Pink Diamond Damian Lillard to add to your roster.
Elsewhere, there are new festive basketballs to unlock for each team in the NBA, as well as a Galaxy Opal Allen Iverson if you’re able to reach Level 40 overall. Of course, there are new rewards and content for WNBA fans in The W Online, too, and fresh music from Def Jam debuts at Club 2K. Seasonal updates really don’t get much bigger than this.

Haven’t noticed new music at all. Although at least it has Yves Tumor on the soundtrack, that album’s a bop machine.
