Temtem’s core storyline concludes with the game’s latest update, Arbury Island, but Crema remains committed to improving and expanding upon this online Pokémon-esque adventure. While the PlayStation 5 game technically remains in Early Access, then, a bunch of Trophies have been added to reflect the fact that the release’s Pokédex equivalent is now complete.
For those of you already familiar with the title, Arbury Island is divided into two conflicting cities: Lochburg and Properton. These two towns are at loggerheads over their contrasting personalities, and it means you’ll find melee-type Tems in the hot-headed plains of Lochburg and more thoughtful Tems in-and-around Properton.
According to a blog post, the team is still looking to introduce mounts, trading, and dojo wars, so, as previously mentioned, the title is still very much in development. However, it’s, as people in the industry would say, “content complete” now – or, at least, a lot closer to it. Is this a game you enjoy playing, or do you consider it a bad Pokémon pretender? Catch ‘em all in the comments section below.

Love the old Pokemon games up till Emerald, still havent tried this on ps5 yet. Is it worth it? I was never a fan of the 2v2 battles on the gba games
Ah yes. The online Pokemon title: Temtem.
It is, indeed, Pokemon.
@Haruki_NLI It would probably be easier to just say ‘imagine if Pokemon had genuinely functioning online play’.
Thoughts on this from those what have played it? As a massive PM fan is this worth playing?
My issue with monster-collecting indies in this vein is how generic their creature designs often are compared to series like Pokemon, Shin Megami Tensei, Monster Hunter Stories, Dragon Quest Monsters, etc.
In this case, I'm also just not a huge fan of the heavy online focus. The artstyle is also a massive turn off.
@Ralizah At the end of the day though, how many Pokémon designs only don’t look like knock-offs because they’re surrounded by iconic monsters? I love Gen 5 but Unova especially was full of it, such as Vanilluxe, Trubbish, Klink etc. At that point it was basically a ‘mundane household item’ collector.
@nessisonett Those don't really look like knock-offs, though. Anyway, I'm not going to insist all Pokemon are equally brilliantly designed, but, in general, I find that the bad/less interesting designs aren't common enough to spoil the flavor of the lineups of each new generation.
It also doesn't help that in most of these games, they draw from similar real world sources as Pokemon, so they end up feeling very similar, but less iconic.
@nessisonett Lol was going to mention those exact Pokemon, too. I remember going to a music festival and they had a pop up Pokemon event there. I got to battle in a little card tournament and take my picture with an AR Alomomola. Then in came someone in a giant Vanilluxe costume and someone else in a giant Mudkip costume and they asked what I thought of the newer designs like Vanilluxe compared to Mudkip. I tried to be nice, but I basically told them it doesn't really feel like a cute pocket monster anymore and more like a pre-teens drawing of their favourite food. It just doesn't bother me as much as some people so never really mention it unless asked.
@Ralizah I agree 100%. Which is strange, because there are hundreds/thousands of good looking fan-made monster designs out there. Those Pokémon inspired games always manage to pick the most generic ones.
The game does enough to differentiate itself from pokemon. And it's just unfairly challenging at times so it requires you to plan out your team before going to a gym so I'd say it's for the hardcore fan of the genre who grew up playing pokemon and now finds it too easy and niche. Different doesn't mean better but the challenge is more satisfying.
I'll play this when it's actually finished. Looking forward to it.
I finished the expansion before this one. The game has a bad selection of typing for starter tems at first. Everyone is water or wind, then grass or fire. Dialogues with npc are boring, especially the side missions. The combat is better than pokemon (no luck mechanics). This last expansion designs are very cool.
My problem is... No new temtem after this. They're done. Wonder how that will affect the longetivity.
I've been waiting for this game to go on sale forever and it never has. Is it because it's early access?
This looks ok but its no Nexomon
@ThomasHL Exactly this reason why it's still full price.
"Online Pokemon inspired title" is the headline you're looking for. This is pretty much misinformation otherwise.
