Sony's really giving up the goods today. First, the platform holder released a new firmware update for PlayStation 5. Now, though, it's PS4's turn, with version number 9.03 available now.
This mandatory system software update weighs in at 490MB, but don't expect too much. This is, as expected, a no-frills patch. "This system software update improves system performance." Our favourite seven-word sentence.
A big day for system performance, then. Whether you own a PS5, PS4, or both, get your console up to date on this bountiful Wednesday.

This is so exciting
And also to stop the Rootkits on both
I feel like when the notes are just, "This system software update improves system performance." It's pretty much patching exploits at this point to prevent another flourishing PS3/Vita/PSP homebrew scene
Thank God for this 9.03 update.
Thank God.
Is this one going to destroy my ps4, too? Hmmmm.

@Kingjay Have you installed the downloaded update?
Yay!
Can't wait to get this and experience the improved performance.
What a time to be alive!
None of the updates so far have improved performance of my base ps4. No reason to start now.
HOLD ME BACK SONY
@Kingjay Sony released software update at the same day for both PS and phones ...I have trouble connecting to the internet with the phone after updating.
