Ever since Dead by Daylight exploded in popularity, there have been a number of asymmetrical horror games. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is the latest attempt: a multiplayer title from Sumo Digital Nottingham inspired by the iconic 1974 movie. There’s no word on platforms just yet, but it’s probably safe to assume this will release on the PlayStation 5 – and potentially even the PS4 as well.
The game’s said to be entirely “authentic”, as the press release explains: “For The Texas Chain Saw Massacre we didn’t just recreate locations and characters, we recreated a whole time and place in Texas.” You can check out the announcement trailer above, which debuted during The Game Awards overnight.

It looks good, but why bother ?! Friday The 13th was great, but they had to stop making content for it. For all we know, it could happen again with this game.
isn't Leatherface already in Dead By Daylight. That might be an issue tbh
I liked it better when it was called "Resident Evil 7"..
I would love a true single player horror game with either Leatherface, Jason, Freddy, Michael, etc. Seems like a waste just having a mindless MP game with skins of them.
How to make my interest evaporate into dust with two words: asymmetrical multiplayer.
hope it puts a massive dent in DBD
@nomither6 It's the same people that made the F13 game. It won't.
Really looking forward to this. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is one of my favourite films ever so getting to play around in that setting will be cool.
I thought Friday the 13th was good but could have been a lot bigger and better if that lawsuit never happened. That game was so authentic to the movies.
It should be illegal for them to use the tagline that it's based on true events. At best it was inspired by multiple serial killers and cherry picked tidbits of their true events.
Yay. Another multiplayer game I and many others have no interest in. I guess this is probably the only way it could be made though. No logical way of making a full-length single player story driven experience outta this. It sucks because you kinda wish there could be a way they could do so, but in the end it just feels like these asymmetrical multiplayer's are easy to slap together with a price tag and server and call it a day, aside from an occasional bug fix or DLC skin release.
No single player story, so a hard pass for me.
@WCB I really hope the Cook and The Hitchhiker are in it! Truly one of the best films ever made, I hope they get the setting right.
@GoodGame F13 was an issue with rights and who had claim to them, but TCM's rights seem to be completely secure.
@hellblazer96 Ah ok. That's good
