The Game Awards is right around the corner, promising an evening of glitzy awards, awkward speeches, and (hopefully) exciting announcements. Before then, there's still some business to take care of, however. The Players' Voice award is one decided purely by public vote, and your window is now open.
While you can vote for your favourites in every category, nearly all the winners are largely decided upon by a select committee. An exception is made for Players' Voice, which is left entirely to the votes of fans. Split up into three rounds, voting has begun on the first bracket:
All you need to do is sign into the website and choose your favourite games featured on the Players' Voice page. On 5th December, round two will begin, showing a different batch of titles. The idea is that you have 10 votes to use across the three brackets, so you'll have to choose carefully.
Which games will you be voting for in the Players' Voice category? Tell us in the comments section below.

Going to be interesting to see which one takes this. For this kind of award I think something mainstream like Resident Evil: Village has a great chance and would be a deserving winner. However, it's very possible it goes to Returnal or Forza Horizon 2, both of which would also be deserving. There were a lot of people angry those two weren't among the nominees from the media.
10 votes for Returnal an option?
Returnal's just outside of Top 10 currently so go vote
I already did last night.
I remember when Fire Emblem: Three Houses won that award. Good times
Returnal for me !
@Voltan
Will do. Crazy it isn't in the top 10 of the year.
It is in my top 10 of all time!
Oh nice. Thanks for the reminder.
Any chance we can get this article updated when the next round of voting goes live on Sunday? I know I'll forget otherwise.
@mariomaster96 It was a lot of fun seeing something niche like that get support.
Unfortunately, so far, Microsoft AAA stuff seems to be getting the lion's share of the votes.
in my opinion i think objectively it has to be resident evil village, i played that game the most on that list with the exception of warzone but i think village was the best game on the list.
Halo probably gonna win.
@Ralizah
Forza Horizon 5 is a great game, to be fair. Surprised Halo Infinite is leading, at least right now, as the full game isn't out yet. It does seem like it'll be great but Game of the Year? Can't judge that until the complete product is out.
I can't sign in with just an e-mail to their site. Ridiculous. I guess those of us without a Google or social media password are out. Oh well, nothing of consequence released this year anyway.
@Gamer83 I’m surprised Halo is even on the list, since it technically isn’t eligible for the regular awards (as it’s not officially out until the day before the show).
@Voltan
Agree.
They really shouldn't be showing the results live. All that does is lead to groups trying to exploit the system. I still remember last year when TLOU2 was way out in front and then the incels on 4chan and TLOU2 reddit banning together to get Ghost of Tsushima the win over TLOU2. It was so obvious because you saw GoT all the sudden shoot way up and it was never even close after that. I won't be surprised if there are groups doing the same thing for Halo right now
I think Resident Evil Village or Metroid Dread will win Players' Voice overall with the final 5 being:
Xbox players' vote will be split between Halo Infinite and FH5 giving RE Village or Metroid Dread a win.
@mariomaster96 Did it actually? I put that game off for like 2 weeks after I got the game then played it, beat it, then immediately replayed the game for a second route. Then, guess what, replayed it for a third route, making my play time 150+ hours and becoming my favourite Nintendo game of all time!!!! I need to preface that in Australia Playstation has always been king and my 1st Nintendo console was the wii, so I don't have an attachment to Nintendo games except Pokemon. Pls no hate from anyone, I know there are technically much better Nintendo games made but the game really struck a chord with me and the Switch is my First PROPER Nintendo console.
@Ralizah It's basically recency bias, Guardians is my GOTY of the year (my REAL GOTY is Mass effect trilogy, but that isn't counted). Honestly surprised infinite is at the top right now considering that 343 botched the battle pass and progression, but I guess fanboys are bumping up the score, but that affects Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo fanboys to vote for the game that they think will make their plastic box win to justify their insecurities of not owning multiple consoles, so I hope something multi-plat will win.
@pumpkin_head Hi there friend.
Can I like your vote 10 times? Cause I agree 100%
When I saw I had 10 votes I just wanted to give them all to Returnal. And maybe a few to Metroid Dread as well.
Housemarque and Returnal deserves all the love they can get.
Cheers, stay safe and have a good one
@XinGViruS Hi there friend.
That´s the spirit. The game is fantastic and Housemarque deserves it.
Cheers, stay safe and have a good one
It's crazy halo infinite is currently top, the campaign isn't even out and the multiplayer has its issues with progression and the gameplay is too arcadey, pretty obvious majority are voting for that just for its platform.
Forza horizon 5, Resident Evil or Kena Bridge of spirits deserve it the most
Halo leading proves that the public SHOULDN'T be given a vote on End of Year awards. They basically haven't got a clue, after all people also voted for Trump and Boris!
😛
Fire Emblem: Three Houses won being an awesome and underated game just like Returnal should (or Metroid but i think it has a decent shot as Game of the Year) but sadly it won't happen. Xbox fans are starving for a W in this show and Halo is goin to win.
Why's halo infinite on the list when it's not even out yet
I voted Little Nightmares 2 (my personal goty), Deaths door, Halo infinite, Pyschonauts 2, Metroid dread and Resident evil village.
Returnal is at number 14 and gonna get kicked out in a couple of hours, DO SOMETHING PPL!
So pretentious to have a fan given reward while simultaneously having every other reward from some pretentious snobs that think they have better opinions then everyone else and they should decide these things
Despite current gaming being as crap as it is, I had fun with some great titles this year: Psychonauts 2, Guardians Of The Galaxy, and Kena: Bridge Of Spirits have all been fantastic & deserving of any awards they won.
Too bad the game awards show is just one bloated 3 hour commercial & Keighly having a zoom call with Kojima, life is too short.
Holy L for Playstation
@reek game just wasn’t great
@Gloamin not even close
@Col_McCafferty People complain about when critics and judges vote on games. Now that a game you don’t like wins players shouldn’t be able to vote either?
@UltimateOtaku91 Clearly you haven’t played it. Multiplayer gameplay alone beats any other game this year
@factsisfactsbro I've played the campaign for an hour yesterday and it was good but the multiplayer is just too arcadey and is no way better than most games released this year, so your saying halos multiplayer alone is better than resident evil village, ratchet and clank, Metroid dread, tales of Arise, scarlet nexus, forza 5 etc?
No way should do halo been included in teh voting as its multiplayer is in beta and not finished and the campaign wasn't even out when voting was taking place.
@UltimateOtaku91ike I said. You clearly haven’t played it. The multiplayer alone is one of the best fps experiences in years.
