Update: Following the recent announcement that the Daytona International Speedway track will make its return in Gran Turismo 7, Sony has seen fit to publish a PS5 gameplay video of the iconic course. If you've ever driven it before, you'll know roughly what to expect, but it's always good to see more gorgeous GT7 footage. Roll on March!
Original Story: Perhaps not a huge surprise here, but the iconic Daytona International Speedway will return in Gran Turismo 7. Polyphony Digital has included the famous circuit in in a number of games over the years, starting with Gran Turismo 5 Prologue all the way back in 2008. It was irritatingly absent in Gran Turismo Sport, however, so this is something of a comeback.
Of course, for many gamers, the inclusion will conjure memories of SEGAās classic arcade title ā and its famous attract theme ā Daytona USA. While we donāt expect this version to be quite as colourful, both the PlayStation 5 and PS4 feature Spotify, so you could theoretically stream Takenobu Mitsuyoshiās song while you hit the oval.

Doo, doo-doo, doo, doo, doooooooooo DAAAAAAY-TOOOOOO-NAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
Waiting for this game to go Gold, I just don't want any last minute delays!
@Iver Yeah this is the first time I ever purchased a deluxe edition of any game ever!
DO DO DO DO DO DO DOOOOOOOOO DOOOOO
@get2sammyb Beat me to it š
Ugh, if they're gonna add an oval make it a cool one like Pocono or a 1/2 mile like Bristol or something.
I'm watching AGDQ this week and everytime the Daytona song comes around people lose their minds in chat. It's a really dope song
Meh. Its probably the most boring track in the history of the series. Just a big oval. I love the GT series for all of the fun, varried tracks. Not into NASCAR.
The next few months are going to be crazy for PlayStation. I canāt wait for this game. Itās going to be amazing.
Looking forward to a classic GT game but i do agree with the chaps above. GT has always been too clinically clean for me in the sounds department. After playing something like Assetto corsa competizione and hearing the debris bouncing off the under carriage and the grunts and roars of engine at peak gear change i want a little of that in GT.
Has there been any mention about this game having PSVR support?
@ThaBEN Not yet, but I think itās a sure thing it will.
Hopefully the PSVR2 State of Play is just around the corner.
@Kidfunkadelic83 Agreed. GT still seems to use vacuum cleaner sounds. And the audio in ACC is top notch.
Awesome, it is a brilliant course for drifting with the sweeping bends, not the best course overall but a welcome return. GT7 can't come quick enough.
@get2sammyb do you ever recall the rumour for Daytona USA (you might be too young) that during a race if you hit the start button on the arcade machine as you went under the bridge you got an extra credit, I never got it to work and thought it was fake news but did you ever hear that one?
Man I thought this was a Daytona USA collection announcement. Which I personally want to play far more than Gran Turismo lol
Meh, it was never one of my favourite circuits... Tokyo R246 is conspicuously missing from GT Sport, I'd get much more excited over that, throw in Midfield raceway and I will be one very happy camper...! šš»
@eagletrippin definately man. What makes it even worse is that ive got a wheel, pedals and racing seat up in the loft that i really want to use. The wife wont let me keep it setvup tho as its a bit of a unit and i really cant be bothered take it to pieces every time lol.
@BlaizeV THIS. I was so excited for a few seconds, haha.
@Kidfunkadelic83 LOL. Ahhhh. Good luck, man. Convinced the wife to let me get a Playseat Challenge (portable folding chair) to haul up & down the stairs every play session. Then I started upgrading things, and it became too much of a pain to break down and carry all the time, so it just sat in the living room. Eventually, I chose to upgrade my rig to something more solid & permanent, and I moved everything to a corner in our upstairs loft, and let me tell you, boy was she happy, lol. So, try sim racing in your living room, then present it to your wife as 'See, wouldn't you rather I do this crap upstairs in the loft instead?'š
@BlaizeV That would have been nice. I recently bought the Xbox 360 version for my Series X, and boy was I disappointed ā the game was fine, but absolutely no force feedback (edit: for steering wheel setups), which if you played the game in the arcades, the wheel would basically jump out of your hands!
Now with added video!
@Quintumply will pushsquare be reviewing this using a wheel or dualsense or both?
@MatthewJP I can guarantee it'll be one of those options, yes.
@Quintumply ha ha. Hoping for some detail on the dualsense/haptics for us peasants who don't have a wheel set up.
Love it
TAKE MY MONEY!
I'd honestly rather a Daytona USA remaster be ported to PS5. I prefer arcade racers to sims though.
No statue of Sonic, so it's not the same.
@MatthewJP I've no doubt that will be touched on in our coverage!
I really wish 99% of the game wasn't locked behind online only. I'd buy it right now otherwise.
Would've got this game if it wasn't for the always online requirement , I feel like homer 'you just lost yourself a customer moe'
No Stock Cars/NASCAR license to go with it?!?
They could have mock NASCAR if they didnāt want to pay.
Also again everything is too clean. Motorsport is a dirty business not this idealistic imagining. All other racers have gone for gritty realism. GT seems to be going other wayā¦.
Clinical almost.
I've got my Fanatec GT DD Pro, my Omega Apex wheel stand in front of my projector. All I need is the game. March come here you amazing beautiful *****!
Hopefully those 30fps replays are optional?. Gameplay is 60 but replays 30...really, on a PS5...Sod Ray Tracing...it's nothing special on console unless it's an Insomniac game...Jarring to go from 60 to 30. Really need to start moving on from the brilliant PS4 and Pro .... Hopefully PSVR 2 turns out with great support as VR is a game changer when done right.
Why does the steering wheel have Skittles stuck to it? Also, who plays in cockpit view? Monsters
Looks great but still not quite there with the car shadows on the track - it looks like the cars aren't quite making contact with the asphalt on the external camera shots.
Iād hate to be this person but Iām very upset right nowā¦ I am watching the rear-view mirror on the car and Iām (still) seeing things disappearing in the background. Likeā¦ the opposite of pop-in.
Gran Turismo has always had this in their games and I totally understand why but I thought for sure it wouldnāt be present this generation. Itās me I know looking for tiny details but I think tiny details are they things that really immerse someone.
Oh well, still buying it but itās hard to unseeā¦ maybe itāll be corrected/fixed at some point I dunno.
is there a racing wheel for the ps5 ? what do most people use for console racing games?
@twitchtvpat Lots. All the same ones that were available for the PS4.
Entry-level: Hori racing wheel
Beginner: Logitech G29 or G923, or Thrustmaster T150
Intermediate: Thrustmaster T300 or T248
Expert: Fanatec CSL Elite, ClubSport, GT DD Pro, or Podium DD ...
@Mezzer Yeah, I am hoping we get 60fps replays, but given this teaser video, I'm not optimistic now.
@ChromaticDracula lol. Oh wait, you are being serious. For one, the PS5 doesn't have limitless power to render any & all graphics in a universe within viewing distance. Sacrifices need to be made if you want it to run at 4k60. But also...how long are you fixated on the rearview during a race? In the heat of battle driving at 150+ mph your eyes should be on the road and cars ahead, and only glancing in your rearview mirror here & there ...
@eagletrippin BELIEVE ME, I know ā¦ I probably sound like a pretentious dousche, and rightfully so I would deserve thatā¦ itās just the little details I noticed in previous generations and the benchmarks I set for my own improvements Iād like to see. That was perhaps my ONLY complaint with previous entries, graphics-wise, maybe even my only complaint period. I guess I was just saying I expected it to be non-existent. Itās probably improved though so thatās great.
When it comes down to it, Iām 100% buying the game and Iām still really excited for it. Iām a bit upset about the online requirement but whateverā¦
And I will say, as long as the replays look gorgeous, and they will, Iāll be happy.
See you on the tracks!
