This new Elden Ring screenshot is so simple and yet so exciting at the same time. Here is a bear, FromSoftware-style – and you just know it’s going to absolutely kick your ass. The mammal looks relatively realistic in its face, but its body is just absolutely enormous, towering over the lead character in the middle of a forest.
You just know fighting this thing for the first time is going to be a spectacle, as it inevitably claws at you and kills you in two or three swipes of its savage claws. “Fierce beasts of the misty woods offer only one gesture of hospitality,” the Twitter caption reads. Do not eat this big bear’s porridge like Goldilocks – you’ll be in for a surprise, we suspect.

Well gee, thanks for completely ruining that surprise with your thumbnail and article title.
Man this game is just so much more interesting than FW and DL2 that I'm sad it's practically at the end of the month
@Old-Red You realise this is an official asset shared by FromSoftware prior to release on its official social media account liked by almost 13k people, right?
@get2sammyb yup, which I can and have easily avoided. I don't understand this obsession with spoiling everything months before anything even comes out. You could have easily just used the Elden Ring logo and put something like "New enemy looks amazing".
Pretty sure that’s Kuma.
@Old-Red : How about avoiding gaming sites, which bring news about...games.
I haven’t been this excited for a game in a while. Can’t wait!
@Old-Red The surprise is that there are four more of the bears behind you!
He's clearly a friendly NPC. He's saying "the castle is that way, brave traveller"
@get2sammyb @Old-Red
Have to agree with Red here. I've been blocking and ignoring anything to do with Elden Ring.
I love Push Square so I regularly refresh the news page during the day. When I saw that screenshot I was gutted. There was no way to avoid it.
Coming across that thing in the game for the first time without knowing about it would have been amazing.
Still love ya, Sammy ❤️
But I agree with Red - A generic screenshot with a bland heading would have worked here.
@Old-Red I'm certain you've seen at least one or two pieces of promotional material for Elden Ring you surely cannot be that upset about seeing one single enemy/character from the game. Its not a spoiler to see a small picture taken from the game and it does nothing to take away from actually experiencing it in the game, it will be completely different. Get over it or stay off the internet
Come on gang, I'm looking forward to Elden Ring too, but it's just one weird looking bear with a chest piece. It's not the end of the world.
@Shepherd_Tallon @Old-Red
Actually there is if you are on Google Chrome. Download the browser extension "Spoiler Protection 2.0", enter keywords like "Elden", "Ring" or "Elden Ring" etc and then the extension will cover the thumbnail etc
@mariomaster96 Nice one! 🙏
Wow, looks fantastic. This game will be epic!
I'm gonna be broke as ***** by the end of February, but I don't care. I'm getting this and HFW at launch day no matter what, lol!
I bet he's not as tough as the bears in AC Valhalla.
Ha it’s time to pre order it I think now. 😅
OMG it’s going to be a fantastic time for a while with this game. Forget subscription scams. 🤗
I agree w @Old-Red here. Love this site. Absolutely my favorite gaming site. But that's an IGN move. Why I don't go there anymore.
Wow going by some of y'all extra sensitivity I guess HFW has been massively spoiled by Guerrilla themselves, showing us the elephant and the snake machines. Heck I'd go back to say R* spoiled RDR2 for showing us you could lead your horse, horse balls and all the other extra details. I think y'all are taking this spoiler sensitivity to uncomfortable levels.
@ApostateMage Lol yea AC alpha animals can be foolishly hard.
@TheArt Thank you! Some of these comments come across as extremely childish to me
Look, I'm all about keeping experiences fresh and all. I avoid everything unofficial like the damn plague (and we all know how serious that is!). I haven't seen a single beta footage of Elden Ring, but I've watched all the official releases, screenshots, and snippets included.
So, IDK what the big deal is about seeing a giant bear? Have you guys seen the dragon boss fight that spawns on you from the sky or am I spoiling things here?
Aside from that, I'm very excited about Elden Ring. I've been one of those hollows over at r/EldenRing who were begging for a screenshot for two years, however, with their poor choice of a release date (6 days after Horizon II, seriously?) I'm going to have to pass on it for a while.
@Old-Red
Yeah, I will never understand die hard fans that follow their stuff on social media and put themselves so open for spoilers. Understandable from From, they have to market it, but this obsession for knowing everything before release is pathetic
@Old-Red
Why are you on the Internet if you’re worried about spoilers?
I’m looking forward to seeing ‘you died’ appear on my screen numerous times thanks to this bear!
Has nobody noticed the other spoiler in the headline?! We get an ass in the game! Bear v Donkey fight!
It will kick your motherf😳c🤔 ass.for sure.but not mine.a legend in the game.word up son
I wonder how many times he/she'll turn me into bear droppings before I say something like Holy f***, FINALLY !!!
@Old-Red Eh, pretty sure there'll be tons of surprises! It's going to be a massive game, easily 50-60 hours to play through, maybe even more.
Lol I bet they reused the moveset of the gorilla's in sekiro
@KundaliniRising333 I though exactly that! I bet it’s like the Ape in Sekiro!
I’m so excited for this game. I don’t mind the odd screenshot and will be all over the reviews when they land.
Currently replaying DS3 to prepare myself.
I’ve gone back to try and tackle Darkeater Midir because I’ve done just about every other “impossible” fight in Dark Souls. I just beat the Guardian Dragon in DS2 and thought I was tough sh*t. Midir put me in my place REAL QUICK this morning. Anyway, this reminds me of that fight… a towering beast of a giant with claws and massive amounts of defense. Able to OSK in one swipe.
….oh how excited this makes me!!
Yogi bear got buff
The guys crying "spoiler" at this would do well to reflect on what an insignificantly fleeting dopamine hit they're freaking out over, that they think a single piece of promotional art - not even an actual in-game screenshot - would ruin it.
@Old-Red dang, you seriously went diva mode. Never go diva mode
I think.... I could be wrong here, but I think there's a video posted on YouTube showing someone fighting this during the network test.
This doesn't constitute a "spoiler." Anyone weird enough to think it does should probably go on a social media blackout until the game releases instead of crying every time you see a piece of promotional art on a video game news website.
As it happens, I posted on my desktop a big ass Elder Ring wallpaper showing an exterior picture of an in-game castle... just 10 minutes before opening this article.
It only took 5-10 seconds of looking at it to make me want to play the game... got me very curious to climb those steps, pass through it's gates and see what's inside, to explore all of it's secrets while being fully aware that it's gonna be filled with tough enemies and plenty of traps.
The magical combination of exploration, danger, secrets and proper rewards found in From Software games has no equal.
So yeah, i get what you're saying.
Well... only 5 weeks to go, already preordered the game, can't wait to play it ^_^
@Old-Red PRE-ORDER CANCELLED
@get2sammyb Well, I take it back with apologies - Bandai Namco just posted this as promo art in my YouTube feed. 🙇♂️
@EclipseZero Human beings quite often like and want things that are neither useful nor of any substantial benefit to them; it's part of the gestalt irrationality we all suffer as squishy psychotic apes.
Besides that, the drawback of sequestering every story (because if you're going to cater to the theoretical most ascetic fans of one game, then you'd better be ready to cater to those of every game) behind a "SPOILER: <game such-and-such> news inside, click to see pics" warning is that it would render the PushSquare front page a sterile, meaningless moonscape that neither humans nor search engines (which, because they're running a business here, do matter) would have any interest in or gain any insight from reading. When you're visiting a gaming news site, it's nice to see pics and new info about, y'know, games.
Does a bear shjt on the woods?
@EclipseZero articles like this one are just relays to official promotional art from the devs and publishers themselves. They are used to attract more people to buy it, not to repel them from buying. Why the heck does this page, or any other gaming website for that matter, have the need to put spoiler warnings on promotional content just to apease the few people who are irrationally sensitive about it?
@GorosBat Yeah you have to kill him with the Holy Picnic Basket of Lordran
Personally I don’t mind spoilers at all. Got to say though I feel sorry people who genuinely share their feeling I believe meaning well get jumped on like that. It’s completely fair to express their opinion and worth a thought.
I hope they disabled the mail notification because I remember years ago that was very annoying when I had them on and knew it was passive aggressive like.
