Update: Wow, that didn't take long, did it? A mere 15 minutes after penning the rumour (which you can still read below), the 5th April 2022 release date for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has been confirmed. You can also check out a new gameplay video, which we've embedded above.
Original Story: It feels like we've been waiting on LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga for an age, but the anticipated action platformer is supposed to be building a blocky bridge to PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 this year. And while it's not official yet, it does look like the intergalactic adventure is targeting an April 2022 release date.
The 5th April, to be more specific. This date was first leaked through the Microsoft Store (that old classic!), and now it seems to have been corroborated by UK retailer GAME. Earlier today, the company tweeted that same date before swiftly deleting the evidence — but not before screenshots were taken.
If GAME''s got pre-order marketing ready to rock, then it's possible (perhaps even likely) that an official announcement is just around the corner. Are you excited to finally get your hands on The Skywalker Saga? Remember the entire Star Wars story in the comments section below.

Finally! It seems like it's been announced forever.
Just confirmed... 5th April.
Lego Star Wars. A cover based RPG shooter. This looks absolutely Boss. Can't wait to play in mumble mode.
Isn't this like the third Lego Star Wars game? I guess they'll keep making the Lego games for it so long as the movies continue to get churned out.
Surely 4th May?
Not getting my hopes up until I have a copy in my hands. Been here too many times before with this game. Their communication with fans is shocking.
I wonder if the codes on the Rise of Skywalker Lego set boxes still work? Still have them somewhere.
@Uncharted2007 Its actually the fifth...or sixth technically. Cause there was the original game with the prequels, the Original Trilogy game, the Complete Saga which combined the first two, the Clone Wars, and the Force Awakens. Looks like they decided to go straight to this instead of making separate Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker games.
All in all, looks freaking amazing.
So excited for this!
@RogerRoger It’s a shame my younger brother’s birthday’s the 2nd and this comes out the 5th but I know for a fact I’m getting this day 1!
The game was originally dated for the end of 2019. Its crazy that its taken this long to come out, but I guess that Covid likely had a lot to do with it.
Either way, the more recent Lego games have been a shadow of what they once were. They used to be extremely fun co-op experiences where the players could unlock a ton of stuff and then go back through and do the levels again and again. I've been playing them since the PS2. But lately, its just been a mess with the last few.
@RogerRoger I’m just glad there’s Mumble Mode!
@sanderson72 After all this time and they couldn't wait 1 more month until May 4th? I don't understand that much of a miss. Unless the Rogue One, Han Solo, Mandalorian and Boba Fett DLC drops on May 4th? $19.99 each or $59.99 for all 4. 🤑
I was concerned that including all 9 movies would make it seem shorter or empty, but this looks complete and a blast! Can't wait to get it!
@sanderson72 they missed a trick there.
This looks so much better than I was expecting. Can't wait!
This is gonna be stellar, can’t wait to boot it up with my brothers and friends for some solid couch co-op.
@rjejr Could be!
I've been waiting since early 2020 for this to drop so I'm expecting something perfect (though with Jon "Rift Apart is Fake Code" Burton going, does make wonder what state it'll be in....)
I'm in two minds about going for the Deluxe one (about £50 everywhere) but I've seen the standard version for less than £40 (Shop To & Game Collection)
I’m still confused about this - I already own Lego Star Wars the complete saga, which lets me play through each film across a multitude of characters… so.. why would I buy it again? Or will it be a £10 4k update like Uncharted?
Can't wait to play the entire saga from Episode I to Episode VI!
@Unlucky13 Strangely, I found the Vita version of Lego Star Wars: Force Awakens played better than the PS4 version - and the same with Lego Avengers & Lego Batman 3 too.
Not going to lie, this is my most anticipated release of the year. I am one with the Force and the Force is with me.
@Palleon This is a completely new game, on a new engine with new mechanics, plus content from films that didn't get adaptations.
This and dying light 2 will keep me busy for a long time.
@Deadhunter The new mechanics are what has me worried. When they did that with the Marvel games, they absolutely ruined them.
@sanderson72 I like the PS4 version of that one. Its probably the last really good Lego game, IMO.
@sanderson72 Good luck figuring out which version to get - I'm still confused about Horizon Forbidden West owning both a PS4 & PS5 - and enjoy the game.
I'm old enough to remember when enjoying the games was kind of the point, not it's all about exclusives and bad work environments, it's draining all of my fun out of gaming. 😝
@Deadhunter So it’s like the Demon Souls game with some extra bits? Which was awesome - really enjoyed that!
But the graphics look pretty similar between the original Star Wars Lego and this remake.. not entirely sure why they did it. Wouldn’t it be easier just to do an expansion and add those bits in?
@Golem25 Get the complete saga, it’s only a few quid - you can play them all, and it’s out now, really good. Save you a fortune on the remake
Yes! Looking forward to it.
@RogerRoger Do you know how many levels will be in this?
New mechanics are a welcome feature! The big environments look fantastic, too. One thing I think I'd love to see is a limited lives (or life pick ups) mode, where you start a level or such with only 5 or whatever. We could call it hard mode, I guess. Maybe in this mode you could keep your chips instead as well. If they have something like that I'd be much more interested.
I stopped playing Lego games a long tome ago. I did Indiana Jones (never finished), Lego Batman 1 and 2, Lego Chima and of course my first ones were Lego Star Wars 1 and 2 back on ps2. I tried the Play At Home one but just couldn't finish it or even get far at all. I have Avengers and DC Villains for when my little one is just a tad older, probably try him on them in about 5 months or so.
So freaking happy we finally have a confirmed release date!
I won't be buying this day one since it'll be $25 or cheaper by BF 2023, but definitely on my list of games to play.
It seems all is not well at TT Games. This is a long read but very interesting, and I'm a bit worried about the new troublesome NTT engine. Not a good sign that it won't be used again, so beware of pre-ordering (as always!)

@RogerRoger Thanks for the estimated info! That will be quite a few levels if you're right
