That didn’t take long! Bioware’s remaster bundle Mass Effect Legendary Edition is coming to subscription service EA Play from 6th January, meaning members will be able to download the game at no extra cost. For those of you who don’t know, this package compiles the space opera’s PlayStation 3 era trilogy, with enhanced graphics and performance.
Despite being a PS4 game, this one runs particularly well on the PS5 as well, owing to Sony’s Game Boost technology. It’s the first addition to EA Play of 2022, which already boasts a pretty impressive vault of software, including Game of the Year candidate It Takes Two. You can find more about All EA Play Games on PS5, PS4 through the link.
In the meantime, you can check out our comprehensive review of Mass Effect Legendary Edition, where resident super-fan Robert Ramsey broke down all three titles after a mammoth 10th playthrough or something ridiculous.

I have UGP so I’m gonna play it through that. The game I really want to be added to EA play/UGP tho is lost on random. Wish that one got a physical release.
Will multiplayer not be added? Multiplayer in me3 was fantastic.
EA play £4 a month or £20 a year bargain to play mass effect
EA Play still no where near the level of ubisoft plus, they need to add brand new games day one to the service then I will likely get it
If you have Gamepass this is brilliant, i own the game so it doesn't impact me but its great for those yet to play who have Gamepass.
I finished Mass Effect Andromeda the other day, it was pretty great. Honestly I kind of feel it's what No Man's Sky should've been, traveling to planets and making them habitable.
I'll definitely play the first three once I can get EA Play for $1.
ME Legendary Edition is by far my favorite release of 2021. Well worth the full $60 asking price. For those that subscribe to this service... that's a hell of a deal and makes your entire year's sub worth it on it's own.
Really hopeful to hear Mass Effect 5 info this year either at E3, N7 day or maybe even the return of PSX in December. I'm patient.
@UltimateOtaku91 Ubisoft plus isn't on consoles so basically not as good as EA play or game pass, even ps plus but EA PLAY worth £19.99 a year deffo
it was 15 quid at Argos recently for Xbox, for some reason they only bothered to reduce it to 30 on PlayStation bizarrely, guess I won't bother, I'll just sign up to EA at some point and play it for peanuts instead
@Uncharted2007 PSX hasn't been around since December 2017 sadly...I don't think they're ever bringing it back.
@KidBoruto Agreed, but I can be optimistic.
100% worth the one month (or 2 months) subscription price. As someone who does not play shooters (I wouldn’t “necessarily” call it one but it has guns) and never played ME before, this game trilogy was fantastic. The Citadel DLC in ME3 is truly the best epilogue/DLC I’ve experienced in a long time. So worth your time. ME2 and ME3 were considerably better but ME1 was enjoyable. You’ll be hooked. Also, make plenty of saves in case you screw up. They give you tons of saves per game. Have fun if you play them!
Perfect timing. Got EA Play for 1 year in December. After finishing ME Andromeda, i will play this trilogy and then onto dragon age.
I know this may sound crazy, but with this news, EA originals like It Takes Two, the absence of micro-transactions in Squadrons, I'm finding myself disliking EA less.
Never played Mass Effect, and was hoping to clear more of my growing library before giving it a go. Seems like it is time!
@Uncharted2007 Don't get me wrong, would love to see it return. I enjoyed the last few years of PSX.
