Right off the back of yesterday's story trailer for Horizon Forbidden West, developer Guerrilla Games has shared a deep dive into the voice talent providing the dialogue for the upcoming PlayStation 5, PS4 title. It includes interviews with Ashly Burch (Aloy), Lance Reddick (Sylens) and The Matrix star Carrie-Anne Moss (Tilda). There are even very brief snippets of gameplay and cutscenes in between each interview, so it's well worth digesting everything contained above.
On returning to play Aloy, Ashly Burch speaks of her excitement around reprising the role. "Aloy is such a rich and interesting character. I think I really got to know her and, sort of, now I know where she sits. I know how to access her." Burch then goes on to discuss the awkward relationship between Aloy and Sylens. "They kind of need each other, so there's this really fun push and pull which is like: 'I hate this guy but I need this guy".
Lance Reddick is another returning voice actor, playing the role of the aforementioned Sylens. He said: "I love playing characters that are super smart and super complex psychologically. Playing a character that's got a lot of mystery to it or layers, I think that's kind of the actor's dream."
One other mysterious character would be Tilda, played by Carrie-Anne Moss. She said: "I really love playing manipulative people. I play this very interesting character named Tilda who's quite a dynamic character. As an artist, there's a lot of freedom in doing something like this. You get to be in the moment, getting thrown direction by the director, getting to try it over and over again. I felt like creatively it was really fun."
The video also contains short interviews with John Macmillan (Varl)and John Hopkins (Erend). We recommend giving it a complete watch because there are a fair few scenes we haven't seen before. Unless you're trying to avoid spoilers, of course.

Carrie Anne Moss is phenomenal. I also heard the queen Angela Bassett will be lending her voice as an antagonist. 2 legendary women holding it down.
I hope we see more of Ikrie too. She was fun.
Really impressed with the talent and the way Sony has been able to manage these quality studios during these unprecedented times we are in. This is exactly the reason why I will stick with PlayStation for the foreseeable future.
Its the Bosch guy! I want a name like Lance Riddick... we could double barrell it, in keeping with the times. Something like Lance Riddick-Bowe.
@NinjaSixx you should try is on ps5 with 60fps..very beautiful game with great combat..
The Queen of the Afterlife, Aria T'Loak.
Sony is clueless your Competition about to monopolize the gaming industry while you keep showing the same game over and over again.
@4kgk2 meanwhile Microsoft shows no games...so yeah lol
Tilda is a reference to Tilda Swinton, isn't she? The resemblance is uncanny.
@4kgk2
The game is near release and the marketing campaign is at its peak. That is why. What do you want Sony to do instead? Please enlighten us. I would definitely like to hear your business strategy to beat Microsoft's trillions of dollars.
chompin at the bit to get a game going.... been a while since I've powered up my PS5 lol... these days get longer and longer the closer this release date gets.
@Royalblues fil industry assets? wdym and also just like ashly said in the video above. they do everything from facial and motion capture performance and all be in the same volume when doing scenes so just like in movies basically.
@rumple1980 sony released 8-9 exclusives last year so i don't know why your ps5 hasn't been powered up.
I love Horizon zero dawn and I am sure this next one will be another massive success. No idea if its directed or her style but the delivery of the dramatic voice by Ashly Burch (Aloy) for use in the trailers and big scenes really irritates me, I think for me it feels like an attempt to force urgency and drama. Then again maybe it's that type of dialogue as I am not a fan of games that give the player "hurry up" dialogue as soon as you leave the 2 meters away from the intended path which GOTG is a massive fan of.
@middyone I only played about 6 games last year. Last game I played was Guardians. This year it should get more use
I stopped playing the first HZD partway through because the voice acting was so cringe-inducingly bad outside of the main cast.
Awesome voice talent, but I just hope they get good actors across the board this time.
@rumple1980 what we're the six games? awesome
@middyone What I played this year... short list lol.. probably lower than a casual gamer, but I need to make sure what I purchase is worth it for me as these games are expensive these days...
Resident Evil 8: Village
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
Outriders
Alan Wake Remastered
Guardians Of The Galaxy
Kena: Bride of Spirits
My bad.. Kena was my last game played and was awesome!
