Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, which remasters Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy for PlayStation 5 and eventually PC, is now less than two weeks away. Maybe you can't wait to return to the adventures of Nathan Drake and Chloe Frazer, or maybe you're planning to experience them for the first time. Either way, we're sure you've played an entry in the series before either of these two currently concluding stories.
So, ahead of the remastering frenzy, we're asking you a simple question today: what's the best Uncharted game? Sony could be in the process of putting your favourite out on the PS5 as we speak, or you could have a soft spot for one of the earlier titles. You may even prefer the handheld entries on PS Vita — you do you, if so.
The games have come a long way since Uncharted: Drake's Fortune back in 2007, but the general gameplay loop has remained mostly the same: combat, traversal, and exploration. The Legacy of Thieves Collection brings back the two instalments that deviated from the concept somewhat with levels featuring more open-ended sections that let you freely explore the area.
With all that in mind: what's the best Uncharted game? Place your vote in our poll and expand on your thoughts in the comments below.

Uncharted 2. Close the poll.
Among(us) thieves is by the far the best!
Uncharted 2 gets all of the praise, and it's terrific - and I'm sure it blew people away upon release, especially in how big of a jump it is from UC1 - but having just played all of the Uncharteds last year for the first time, UC4 is my personal favorite and a real cut above the rest.
4 was far and away the best. 4 is what people claim 2 is.
UC4: regarding graphics and presentation. The physics are very great. Would like to see 1-3 remastered with the same graphics engine.
Seen this poll many times and it's always the same.
Uncharted 2 (rightfully so)
Uncharted 4

PSP games
Uncharted 4 is my favourite. Closely followed by 2 and The Lost Legacy.
I bought my ps4 the day Uncharted 4 came out but to me 3 is the best. 2 is an amazing leap forward over 1 but 3 perfected what 2 did. 4 I found to be nearly as good as 3 but just not the best. I'm a sucker for an origin and a father son story.
I feel like I enjoyed the original trilogy almost equally. Even though I think the sequels are better than Drake's Fortune, not much can beat booting it up and playing it on my PS3 on Christmas day. It was such a beautiful and exotic setting with rich characters and a really engaging story. I know standards have increased a lot since then, but I still feel it has the same charm today.
That said, I have similar feelings for all of them, but gun to head, Uncharted 2 is probably the most fun I've ever had playing a game.
I’d like to see Golden Abyss remastered. Never played that one.
The correct order is 4 > 3 > 2 > LL > 1. End it. I have spoken.
1.- Uncharted 2
2.- Uncharted 4
3.- Uncharted 1
4.- Uncharted Lost Legacy
5.- Uncharted Golden Abyss
6.- All the games ps haters call "another Uncharted" 🤭🤭🤭
7.- Uncharted TCG and I didn't even play it
8.- Uncharted 3
Uncharted 4 and it’s not even close. It’s head and shoulders above the PS3 entries in terms of story, character development, visuals, locations, and gameplay.
Honestly I'll have to go with The Lost Legacy, something about the brevity of the experience. I love 2 and 4 but they both have some pacing issues IMO, 4 reaaaally gets going in Madagascar. TLL is fun throughout !
I have the best memories of 2 but I think the story in Uncharted 4 is probably the best.
I really liked how it takes the old trope of rescuing the princess and turns it on it's head - Elena not only physically rescues Drake, but saves him emotionally and psychologically as well. She could have just divorced him for his repeated antics and betrayals, but she instead wins the "Best Wife In Gaming" award. They then find a way to have a stable life while also having adventures. I found it really touching and meaningful.
Uncharted two. By a landslide
The first one is my favourite but the ‘best’ is probably U2, closely followed by U4.
If U4 had Jason and the Argonauts style fighting Skeletons it would have been much better. I miss the supernatural elements.
All the Uncharted games are great though.
@GymratAmarillo I take it you’re not a big Helen Mirren fan 😂
not really a fan of any of them
@Integrity Yup, 2 hands down the best. From story to combat, it was the best out of the series. After that, it was just complete meh for me. I did like Lost Legacy but just for that last level with the train.
@LiamCroft I have to agree.
#1: 4
#2: 2
#3: Lost Legacy
@BritneyfR_ee Oh no no, actually she is great if anything my complain about that character is that they didn't let her be the real villain at the end, would be cool. My "problem" with 3 is how they tried so hard to make Drake someone he wasn't at that moment and overall the technical aspects of the game, tells a lot how 4 is a perfected version of 1&2 gameplay without a lot of 3 stuff.
For me it is:
#1 UC2
#2 UC4
#3 UC lost Legacy
Special shout out to Golden Abyss, really enjoyed this one and hoped more would follow on the Vita, it showed what was possible with the right dev and support.
@LiamCroft I feel the very same. So many Uncharted fans I know haven’t even played Lost Legacy.
#1 Uncharted 4
#2 The Lost Legacy & Uncharted 2
#3 Uncharted 3 & Uncharted 1
Haven't played Golden Abyss & Fight for Fortune but pretty sure I'm not missing out on much.
2 is the only one I actually really liked. Played 4 and Golden Abyss to completion and thought the were ok. 3, played about half. 1, played about an hour. Bought Lost Legacy and haven’t started it yet.
Short answer: Uncharted 2.
Long answer: Uncharted 2. Uncharted 4 could've been the best but it's story kinda sucked. First off Sam should've been teased in an earlier game. Maybe he was and I just missed It but it felt weird that drake suddenly has a brother. The story should've been Sam actually needing drakes help to taking care of the cartel dude or whoever he was and taking the treasure for themselves instead of it being a whole story Sam made up.
Then there was their name change. I was hoping it would be more along the lines of them being related to some infamous treasure hunters or something so they changed their names to be safe. Or maybe they did some real messed up stuff in the past and changed their names to stay safe from the public or something. But the name change didn't seem all that big a deal. I expected much more from their backstory
And rafe just sucked. He was a lame ass villain. And I also kinda wished they went into more fantasy territory like how Uncharted 2 did with those huge monster things and the shandorians. I think that's what they were called.
Uncharted 4 could've been way better but 2 still wears the crown imo
I think Uncharted 4 would've had the same impact if it released at the time 2 did. With these "best in the series" polls, people are just going to vote with a nostalgic mind.
Going to be real close. UC2 & 4 are easily the best. Lost legacy was also very good and liked the slight open world sections.
For me though, UC4 just had so much polish, you could see the developers hearts were in this game, just tops it. All are very good though and somewhat better than most games out there.
My favorite will always be 2 no question and it's not just because the single player was amazing. The multiplayer in Uncharted 2 at launch was simply sublime. I have so many great memories of playing that game online with friends. I literally didn't buy another game until Uncharted 3 because I was that hooked on 2.
4 would be my second choice though. A great send off to Nathan Drake.
@willi3su
Not even close for me uncharted 2 is head and shoulders above 4 I literally preferred everything from volume of enemies to the puzzles and story. 4 looked spectacular though and a great game so I get why people prefer it. Just third for me after 2 &3
Uncharted 2 without a doubt. Hell I even prefer 3 over 4.
4 was good but I didn’t like Sam as a character, it’s the most polished entry but only because it’s newer obviously. 2 and even 3 were just pure fun.
Golden Abyss was great for a Vita game and was not developed by Naughty Dog...
Two was incredible, the whole package felt right.
Four was excellent, real quality in both story and splendor.
Personally I would love to see a new chapter which is PS5 only...not held back by PS4.
Personally it's a toss up between 2 and 4 with Lost Legacy and 3 close behind.
Okay why does 4 have so many votes….
U4 was great. But had some MASSIVE pacing issues at the island and NO MYTHICAL ENEMIES. Come on….so many teases at undead pirates!!
Also, can we have a Fight For Fortune rerelease on smartphones. Loved that game.
based people vote for uncharted 3 like true kings
UC4 but only just and probably beats out 2 simply because it has better graphics and smoother gameplay. Oh and one of the best chase sequences in gaming history. As well as lemurs.
😉
Uncharted 2 is absolutely brilliant mind, spoiled only by one really frustrating boss fight.
As an entire package...
U2
U4
U3
U1
U:GA
U:LL
U:FFF
Had Naughty Dog made a good multiplayer for U4 instead of screwing the pooch as they had... not even having co-op for the first year... then U4 would be at the top. History shows they f**ked up though. Incredible ending to the franchise's story arc but the multiplayer was sub-par.
Between 2 and 4 for me though i think U4 edges it.
2 by a very large margin.
I stand by 4 being a disappointment, other than the scene where you are being dragged behind the van, good lord.
I hope they manage to slap Golden Abyss on a ps4/5, that deserved more than it was able to work with.
Uncharted 2 for the train moments and the co-op is just the best
Uncharted Drake's Fortune
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy (great open world!)
Uncharted: Golden Abyss (gameplay felt weak due to handheld but the charcoal and puzzles, was excellent!)
Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception (the plane didn't have that same U2 train greatness)
@SegaSaturnSNK really it's only between 2 and 4, and 2 came first and was more of a revelation to play during that era than 4 was during its. Loved them both but 2 already nailed what 4, beyond technical and graphical improvements, could only ever equal at best.
Uncharted 4 is my favourite. It was an incredibly well thought out, well executed conclusion to Drake’s story.
I like how 4 went extremely realistic with no fake powerful mythical enemies like 2 had. Fighting that last boss in 2, trying to shoot those blue goo on the trees was a bit annoying. Plus I think 3 is underrated, is just as good as the rest.
Uncharted 2 > LL > 4 > 3 > GA (thanks for including it) > 1 > Fight for Fortune
@TheArt OMG that boss was terrible!!
I started with Uncharted 2, but when I played 3, I knew that it was my favorite. It has very emotive moments, like when nathan is lost in the desert and sees sully's mirage.
@Uncharted2007
7 months is not exactly what I would call not having coop for the first year. Uncharted 4 released May 2016, the coop mode was added December 2016, 7 months later.
UC4 for me. There’s just so many great moments and the environments are incredible. The story was solid too and felt like it wrapped up Drakes journey nicely.
Objectively 4 is probably best but my fav is actually 3…
@TheArt there was a trick where you could just shimmy around the same corner-ledge, avoiding all damage whilst waiting for the blue sap to grow back. Made the boss super easy and really helped on crushing 😁
People saying 2 is the best should play it again.
There are parts of each game I adore. I think Lost Legacy is my overall favorite. I loved the shorter run and soft open world stuff. Plus I love the leading ladies.
Why am I not seeing the "$10" upgrade option? I own (purchased) Uncharted 4 on PS4. But the only options available are the $39 bundle of UC4/LL, and the $49 PS5 collection 🤷🤷🤷
I've played all the main series and lost legacy quite recently, my order would be
4, lost legacy, 3 , 2 , 1
@BritneyfR_ee I've tried that little trick you mentioned and it didn't work out for me. Must have been doing it wrong as he still ended up making his way to me and got me.
So I found it to be easier to just run round the map while making sure he was actually following me on the same path while I stayed ahead. There was a certain corner I did the shooting from so he had no choice but to walk past the sap I was aiming at.
@BritneyfR_ee Oh really... I'll check that out when I consider platting the game. I've beat 3 & 4 on crushing already.
@eagletrippin
From the store website:
“ The upgrade will be available starting at launch on January 28, 2022.”
Uncharted 4, easily. Best story, great level design, more variety in combat, and it did a great job of fully developing Nathan Drake as a character. Also didn't have lame supernatural elements like in the first two games.
UC2 will win because of nostalgia, however.
@__Seraph Haven't played TLL yet, but I otherwise fully agree with your ranking, which makes me think I'll probably really like that game when I get around to playing it.
Uncharted 2 is still one of my favorite games, so I had to go with that one. My second favorite game in the series is the 4th game. Never got around to playing the PS Vita game though.
They are all good. I can’t choose.
🤷🏼♂️
@willi3su
Amen!
"Tomb Raider" 2013 🤷♂️
Uncharted 4 and Lost Legacy are an unbeatable double-header for me
@DeepSpace5D Thanks!
Game 1 and 3. The ones with less repetition and more story.
4 is way too long for my taste. Quantity over quality.
Uncharted 2 blew me away at the time and it’s just as good now. 4 is great too but it’s definitely 2 for me that comes out on top
Golden Abyss for me ngl, it's portable.
Uncharted 2 and 4 are both comparably wonderful and I see the poll agrees.
I voted Uncharted 3, some fantastic sequences. Followed by Lost legacy and 2.
Just this week I Platinumed Golden Abyss and that's actually a pretty competent and fun game! Super surprised by how much fun I had revisiting it
@DeepSpace5D Yeah, and it was half assed. Co-op should have been at launch. Adventure mode should have been added. In fact... many modes from the previous two entries should have been added. Naughty Dog opted for the laziest multiplayer option they could have mustered.

Just kidding. Uncharted 4 by a mile.
4 - 2 - 3 - Lost Legacy - 1 - Vita game - whatever the other one is.
For me it's between Uncharted 2 and 3. Uncharted 2 is the better game overall but Uncharted 3...when I get to the plane, I just get so hyped, I love that scene!
Uncharted 4 is the only game I only played once, I think it lost a lot of its mysterious roots by having no "paranormal" enemies, which by itself is fine I guess, but there also no setpieces I can remember besides the jeep and that house falling apart when you fight Nadine. Sure the graphics are amazing, but it felt a bit too much exploration for me. The action setpieces are what makes Uncharted imo.
Golden Abyss on Vita wasn't done by naughty dog but its cool that its only available on an obscure (now) system. It still graphically rivals every game thats out on Switch
I've never actually played any of these, but I have the trilogy on PS4- it's just been sitting on the backlog. Best to just start with 1?
@Uncharted2007 I don’t really see what’s lazy about it. I mean it has 10 different stages of coop and I like the map layouts of alot of them.
It might have come 7 months later but it has been there now for 5+ years. I just got 100% trophy completion on Uncharted 4 multiplayer last December and it’s very fun and challenging on Crushing difficulty with a good team.
@jruasap Definitely play through them in order, just know that 1 has not aged as well as the others and is a bit rough round the edges. Still an entertaining few hours though.
1. Uncharted lady zone
2. Uncharted golden abyss
3. Uncharted 3
4. Uncharted shadow of the tomb raider
5. Uncharted 2
6. Uncharted 1
7. Uncharted Adam’s venture
8. Uncharted 4
@Boldfoxrd it’s got to be 3. The action was too much!
A tie between 2 and 4 for me with the edge to 4.
probably 2 , but i liked 3, but i'll say this , i would say imo the first game was the best one. when it came out , it was a huge leap for naughty dog. they went from cartoonish type games to a more realistic game , and i remember first playing ps3 console itself , and thinking wow this is what games are like now.
I chose 2 bc it’s one of my favorite games ever. But I loved lost legacy. It might actually be the best uncharted game. I actively disliked 4.
@DeepSpace5D Pre-co-op was the lazy effort. Took 7 months of fans bitching up a storm on their social media to pull their head from their ass. Even then they only half listened having never included Adventure Mode. Then they jumped on top of loot boxes like flies on crap for character skins which became 95% different colors. Ridiculous.
I’ve only played Uncharted 1 so far early last year. I thought it was okay. I’m a big fan of TLOU so I was a tad bit disappointed. Does the franchise kick into gear during the 2nd one? I’m tempted to go back into it.
Uncharted Top Trumps, no contest.
@Uncharted2007 I can see your perspective that the multiplayer wasn’t complete at launch, but a poll in 2022 should judge the game in its current state imo. It has had coop for over 5 years.
@DeepSpace5D You're welcome to your opinion and I'm welcome to mine.
i played the Vita version too needs a remake imo, 2 was the best with all the extras included really liked the Mirror mode
@Uncharted2007 I’m not trying to change your opinion, I just think it’s a weird gripe today in 2022.
Should we also criticize No Man’s Sky in its current state because of how it was at launch?
@DeepSpace5D No, but its past should also be remembered.
@Uncharted2007 That’s fair, especially if someone replayed it at launch and hasn’t returned to it.
Uncharted 4 is the best I have played Because sadly I have not played 2 yet. I know...I know it's on my list.
This is a ridiculous question. It should be "which one if your favorite?".
What determines "best"? It's subjective. People will vote on their favorite cause it's a subjective question.
Needed to be defined this. Uncharted 4 for me was definitely the best story mode with 2 not very far behind. But the fun I had with plunder in uncharted 2 was unbelievable! That's where 4 went wrong for me. Complicating the multiplayer! Should have been kept simple with shotgun auto rifle fal ect....
3 and 4 are more technically and graphically impressive, but 2 is the most memorable. In its day, it was cutting edge also.
I do like all. It is an amazing series.
Uncharted 2 is definitely the best standalone game…
However you followed the series throughout the peaks, call backs & payoff of UC4 tops it all.
They’re all really great. I think Lost Legacy is the perfect package.
Even Golden Abyss was great.
@CWill97 Keep in mind UC1first released in 2007. It’s aged worse than any other game in the series including the Vita ones. UC2 at the time was a landmark moment so I definitely at least checking that out before dropping the series. They are all excellent and I’d recommend playing them in order.
The Lost Legacy is pretty much the length of UC1 with UC4s gameplay- it’s the perfect bite sized AAA adventure.
These games began to go down the drain with the 2013 Tomb raider, simply because of less exploration and more "kill-em-all" COD-style elements...just saying.
Uncharted 4, purely because there's no supernatural ***** which I always thought ruined the last act of the other games.
U2.
I cant remember 3 which isn't a good sign and U4 I only played last year on the PS5. I felt I kept waiting for it to start, for the great cinematic spoilers I'd been avoding for 3 years to kick in. Never did imho.
I couldn't play lost legacy. The idea of playing the person who tried to kill you in the previous game just doesn't work for me. I know many games use that mechanic but I'm old school and dont want to play the baddie
I lean towards U3. It's probably not the best but it's the series Introduction for me when it was on ps plus on ps3. I played it in Stereoscopic 3d which really added to the scale and immersion.
2 be honest it’s difficult 2 say which is my favourite without sounding 2 much like an obsessive with 2 much time on my hands.
I bought the "Nathan Drake Collection" years ago and got 4 with Plus (IIRC). Stopped playing the series partway through 3 because it was boring me.
Question:
Should I just read a recap of 3 and skip to 4? It seems like 3 isn't super popular.
I've always stood by UC2 as the best but the more I played 4 it's taken top spot.
I wasn't to say UC2, but to be honest they all blend into one. Been so long since I played since of them.
Uncharted 2 is the best.but 1.3.4.even lost legacy and golden abyss is really good also.amazing franchises.word up son
Uncharted 2 and its not even close.
2 was mad but could of been longer. i love em all though played each console one at release. have the golden abyss
fell in with a psp when i started repairing consoles and computers. still playing through the golden abyss would love to see a new game uncharted game
@nookie_egg thanks! appreciate your input
Drake's Fortune will always be my favourite. I really liked the supernatural twist, the bit at the end with the Spanish was genuinely creepy.
