Nothing is permanent in this digital age, of course – it’s one of the major reasons many gamers still advocate for physical media. When it comes to PS Now, it’s expected that titles will come and go – many are even added to the service with hard deadlines of when they’ll be removed. Other titles are considered to be more “permanent” additions – meaning, they’ll remain for the foreseeable future.
However, fans of the streaming subscription on Reddit are beginning to notice a trend: titles are being axed without much prior notice. The latest trio include Killing Floor 2, Moonlighter, and SUPERHOT – all three of which didn’t have expiry dates until recently. They’ll be taken off the service on 28th February, when new PS Now games – including Shadow Warrior 3 – are added.
While it’s poor form from Sony to remove these games without giving longer notice, it’s perhaps another sign that the company’s planning to introduce a new subscription soon. Rumours resurfaced this week that PlayStation is planning a triple-pronged service, which will merge PS Plus with PS Now, and incorporate additional perks, like “classic games”.
The manufacturer is still yet to comment on the changes, but there’s no smoke without fire. Exactly when we can expect it to arrive is unclear, but Venturebeat journalist Jeff Grubb reported this week that he believes it’s “pretty close to launching”. Hopefully we get some concrete details in the coming weeks, then.

I can't wait til Spartacus is officially announced so that we can stop speculating and start making actual value judgments about whether or not it works for us. Here's hoping it's an appealing package.
Don't care, where's Tlou factions 2 and GoW release dates?
Neil Drunkman and Never heard of it plis
It's starting to add up for something happening in March. Personally I'm hoping for a large selection of PS1, PS2 and PS3 games. People will demand day one exclusives but aside from Sony's live service games I can't see how that will benefit Sony.
It's all adding up and with no known Playstation Studios games with precise release dates after March 4th, a State of Play or Showcase seems likely for sometime in the near future.
I would love PS1, PS2 and PS3 classic games and there’s not even any technical reason why it couldn’t happen or even any realistic reason (legal, money, license etc) that it couldn’t happen but it just feels too good to be true.
That sucks, the fact that some psnow games were permanent additions was one of the big pros the service had over gamepass. (Over some first party games)
What the heck? Definitely a bad call. Games leaving the service should always be transparent and with plenty of warning in advance. I do my best to keep track of these things because naturally I may want to play them before they go -moonlighter, for instance- but Sony makes it so difficult to know when something is leaving the service! Really frustrating move here.
I'll say it now...people will be super disappointed with the service.
But for me, anything new is good!
This is why I hate gaming subscriptions like this in the first place.
They seriously need to come up with something already. Current PS Now and PS Plus feel outdated and irrelevant, pissing off people every month...
This is why I stopped subscribing to Now. Ive noticed games leaving without notice for awhile now. You can't trust the service. I was playing UnderTale and it was just randomly pulled off the service with no notice.
I was going to start Moonlighter soon. Glad I seen this article before I added it to my account. Smh
It might be a sight of whatever this service will be (although I honestly just expect Now to be rebranded, increased in price and get games earlier, but still just be technically the same.)
Either way, though, doing this with Now at this point does not increase any level of confidence on anything they do next.
While I’m sure Sony are planning something, I really don’t like the “no smoke without fire” saying generally. It’s basically stating that, if enough people believe in something, or if it’s said often enough, then that lends credence to its validity. I think if politics, activism, and religion have shown us anything, it’s that there is no truth to this philosophy; it’s common for a large number of people to believe absolute bullcrap.
But, back on topic, it is not good for games to be removed without a few months notice. I know it’s common on other services, but the surety has previously been an advantage Now has over the alternatives. Don’t take a step back.
Were they considered permanent? Or were they considered as being on the service indefinitely? Big difference. Assuming the former was a silly idea for anybody that did think that.
This happened before. Injustice 2 was removed in November, although it did not have an expiration date. Ironically, it is still shown on a promo picture on All PSNow Games page.
This is number one b*llshit! The least they could do is announce removals in advance
@Angelus3K Even better if they have Trophies.
I'll believe it when they officially announce this merged service.
Not for me. Going all physical and single player games for PlayStation. I can only justify one subscription and some digital games for one platform, and that’s Nintendo.
@shining_nexus I cant justify one digital subscription besides a Netflix and no gaming company can change that im glad LRG can let me get the best up to date physical copies.
I got 18 months notice from Microsoft that Forza Street is shutting down.
Won't be renewing PS Plus for 12 months until dates are fixed.
I'm just hoping for the ability to play my digital collection of ps1 and ps2 classics and stream my ps3 purchases on ps4/ps5. But unfortunately I suspect it'll be more like nintendos approach; small catalogue of easily emulated usual suspects for which you will have to pay a premium
@Atex31 this is about psnow not ps plus
I'm leaning away from game subscriptions. 9 times out of 10 they're games I have zero interest in anyway. Better off just being more careful about what I buy.
