Capcom's mysterious countdown has ended, and guess what? It was all in aid of Street Fighter 6. The long rumoured project is finally official, and...well, that's pretty much it. All we have is an incredibly brief teaser that features Ryu (complete with facial hair) and series newcomer Luke, who was the final DLC character for Street Fighter V.
No platforms have been confirmed, but it's safe to assume that Street Fighter 6 will be on PlayStation 5. Capcom says that more information on the game is coming this summer.
So, was this worth staying up until 6AM for? No, probably not. But hey, we're one step close to that Dragon's Dogma 2 announcement. Don't let us down, Capcom!

Well the announcement was underwhelming but hey what can you do? Still very excited!
@Korgon we also got another announcement called Capcom Fighting Game Collection
@anoyonmus
Yup I know and that's pretty cool too indeed.
@Korgon it is. I might get that one tbh because its coming out fairly soon while SF6 has no release date.
All I hope are a few things
1. Capcom should FINISH the game and not rush it like I heard they did for SF5
2. Not Playstation exclusive
could’ve done without a super short CGI teaser .
meh
Might just be my tired brain at 6am but that logo screams mainstream esports.
We all pretty much knew it was gonna be SF6. But hey, I’m happy for it. I enjoyed SF5 but let’s do a better job with 6. As in a much better launch and better online.
Is there any reason to NOT have a dragon's dogma 2? Hopefully it still gets announced.
@ShogunRok The logo looks more like FIFA Street than Street Fighter.
Hard pass, save your money and just buy 5. There going to practically be the same games anyways.
@Ken_Kaniff no it won’t each street fighter game have different gameplay mechanics.
"That concludes our all-weekend Street Fighter event. Now here's a trailer for Dragon's Dogma 2!" LMAO
may as well have just tweeted out an SF6 gif
Read the small print at the bottom.. eCapcom.
That's definitely pointing towards an online service game/ competition game.
It was always going to be Street Fighter.
But a tiny part of me was hoping that this would be Dragon's Dogma 2: Deep Down.
Hopefully it's multiplat this time. SF5 player base was hella low so a bigger release on all platforms would be awesome
@Envy not true Sf5 playbase was as big as sf4.
Hmmm... I learnt my lesson with SF4 I practically had 3 copies of the same game with added bits. They did the same with SF5 and probably will with 6. Their milk the fans business model works well. I'll save my money till the final edition comes out.
I do hope it won't be PS(5) exclusive this time.
@4kgk2 since when have the street fighter games deviated from push button to punch opponent?
@ShogunRok Agreed! First thing I thought of when I saw that logo was e-sports.
Yet I have a little sympathy, the old logo is very anachronistic, you can almost date it with the flame gradient and flame like edges. It's definitely a product of it's time and likely outdated. But the new logo is just so boring and soulless by comparison and seems designed to be used in banners and at all sizes for marketing, web and e-sports. While I undestand their reasoning it's still a missed opportunity.
@nomither6 I don't think that's CG; it looks awfully like they're using RE engine for this, which means that was real time, or at least an "in-engine" cinematic.
You seem to have 6 unread messages on your Street Fighter app!
@Voltan That's actually really funny! I'm going to remember this post if that criticism of the logo gets traction.
RE Engine Street Fighter 😯
@0:08 add a green tint and Ryu looks like the Incredible Hulk. lol
@JB_Whiting i meant to just say a cutscene
@4kgk2 it was ? you can barely find populated lobbies in battle lounge ; meanwhile in SF4s lifespan endless battle lobbies were always populated with more than just 2 or 3 players . i get “ranked” is the most played mode , but still , other modes still had more players in it than 5 did .
@themightyant how do you suggest the street fighter logo should look ? i personally prefer logos to look more fantasy than so serious like logos do nowadays . i remember when call of duty used to have 3D-fonts for their title and now it’s just literal flat letters with no color .
oh , and i noticed you had logos for a pfp , what a coincidence! i always hated the new ps and xbox logo too , lol . they’re exactly what i complained about .
@CynicalGamer. Its coming. Dragon dogma is definitely coming.i love dragon dogma dark arisen. One of the best games ever made.word up son
FYI when the Capcom leak happened there were two other entries listed: "SSF6" for Q4 2023 and "Ultra SF6" for Q4 2024.
So I would temper any excitement for the initial release unless you don't mind paying full price for a barebones version.
@nomither6 I'm not suggesting it should change, just I can understand why they would change it.
I'll judge each logo on it's own merits but more generally I also prefer the fantastical than serious, at least as far as video games are concerned.
But they're just designing to the trend. We've currently just been through a flat design phase, before that was skeuomorphism, and now we're moving into a post-flat design trend, similar to flat and still minimalistic but reintroducing shadows, subtle gradients and other elements to create layers and more interest again. A shame they feel they have to follow, but that's how design often goes.
P.S. I chose the 4 logo variants when I made my PFP simply because they all worked together in size, shape, style and design. Which the 3D or colourful variants didn't. It's not because I prefer the flat white variants, because I don't, it just works better in harmony here
Played SF5 quite a bit (including online) but I'll wait for a complete edition of 6 before I start playing. Capcom's greed when it comes to this series is immesurable. Not DoA cringeworthy, but getting there.
@nomither6 people mostly play rank and player matches not lobbies in sf5 people only use lobbies for online tournaments.
To start, I'll just state that in fairness to Capcom it turned Street Fighter V around very nicely after its disastrous launch, it's a very good game. That out of the way, SF 6 needs to be in much better shape out of the box than 5 was and I don't even ask for a lot. My two most recent favorite fighting games are Samurai Shodown and The King of Fighters XV, neither ripe with single player modes but do have full rosters (especially KoF) and a good arcade/story mode. That's all I really ask, have at least arcade mode ready to go.
I'll just wait for the Super Mega Extreme Super Duper Hyper Edition when it includes all DLC within the DLC 🤣
Seriously though Street Fighter 2 and 4 will always be my favourite fighting games. Street Fighter 5 was just.........meh I'll just say. The way you had to grind Fighter Points to unlock stuff was just awful.
Put it this way I won't be in a hurry to buy this.
The question is who will be the final boss of SF6 and what timeline for SF6 ?
Btw, since Capcom is good in making fighting games, why don't make a side project such as Cartoonish Boxing games with Street Fighter super moves and hilarious fighting way like Pocket Fighter ?
Who cares, it will be riddled with microtransactions and will be online only, no interest and no Thanks, there are better older fighters out there anyway, hell I still play ultra street fighter 4 occasionally 😁
@RubyCarbuncle excalty, it will be grindy, and full of monetisation to encourage you to pay up
@gollumb82 imo the excessive season passes is something a lot of modern fighter games do now, it really is vulgar disgusting
@captainaverage
The one thing I liked about SFV was that they made it more friendly for pad players with its loosening of the execution timing. SFIV is playable with pad (many pros use them) but the execution on certain characters can be absolutely punishing. Chun-Li (my long time street fighter main) was really difficult to play on pad. I was one of the few who was actually happy to see lightening legs go to QCF motion.
On SFIV I had to use a Saturn style controller and hold it in my left hand with my right fingers elevated to play Chun on that game. That was the only way I could piano the keys fast enough to get Legs out on demand.
Logo is absolutely terrible but the models look nice running on the REengine.
Kinda glad Capcom is getting away from the shaders they used in SF4 and 5. It's like they wanted to go for realism but keep it cell shaded, except it wasn't cell shaded. The models just looked so weird to me.
I couldn't get into the SF series anymore after SF4.
glad folks are enjoying the series still and it looks amazing. it's so fun watching the fighting game tournaments.
hope Capcom brings back SF Alpha at some point.
enjoy SF6 when it comes out! : )
Unfortunately, Capcom is making Street Fighter
increasingly irrelevant. Mortal Kombat 11 sold
millions and millions of copies and provided an
amazing amount of content (and a fun Hollywood
movie!) and what does Capcom do next to deliver a killer Street Fighter experience?
Cool, I hope it's full game with no mtx. I have no problem with characters dlc like guilty gears / mortal kombat.
@gollumb82 I think Capcom has learn their lesson since re7. I really doubt they'll screw things again.
@wiiware MK has mtx...
sf5 ended up pretty a pretty great game.
@RevGaming
Let's hope so. SF has been one of my favourite fighting games since SF2. At the moment I'm considering getting King of Fighters XV but I'll wait for @shonenjump86 to play it first and give us his thoughts on it. I hear he's kind of an expert on fighting games in these parts 😉
I normally don't root for third party games to be exclusive (timed or otherwise), but considering I personally know some Xbots that are Street Fighter fans and have been crowing about Bethesda games being bought by Microsoft, I would not be upset if this was exclusive to PlayStation and PC like Street Fighter V was. The practice sucks when it is done with individual games and even more so when done with entire publishers.
@gollumb82 oh, I’m no expert at fighting games. I just like to play them 😁. But I do recommend KOF 15. I haven’t taken my game online yet, but I’ve been messing around with training mode and vs play. Really enjoying it so far.
That countdown was completely unnecessary and the reveal would have been much more impactful if it came without it. I think I even preferred the way the development of GTA6 was announced by Rockstar. It would be good to have a bit of text with an overview of the future of the franchise.
@shonenjump86
I play fighting games occasionally these days and only a handful of franchises (Street Fighter, MK and KOF) so your experience has to count for something 😉 Thanks for the feedback on KOF XV. How would you rate the graphics? I wasn't a fan of XIV for that particular reason. The screenshots and youtube clips suggest SNK improved the game in that department but there's no demo to check it out (or I don't know about one) as opposed to KOF XIV.
@4kgk2 i said that . but even then , sf4 still had more players in lobbies & this was the xbox version .
There's zero chance this game is console exclusive to PlayStation this time. The leaks already confirmed it being multiplatform. They were upfront about SFV being console exclusive as soon as it was revealed.
@RevGaming Really? I don't remember finding mtx from the game. I hope sf6 won't have mtx.
@gollumb82 the graphics are a huge improvement in my opinion. It just looks so much better than KOF14. And I enjoyed that game to when it first came out.
If we add up all the Street Fighter game versions out there, what Street Fighter number would this game be? Would it be in the 30s or 40s?
Edit: Ooh, Wiki says this is #38, but that doesn’t include the Super Puzzle Fighter games, and I might add those to the mix, too. Anyway, 30s or 40s was a good guess. 😎
@twitchtvpat WTH?! smdh
All I hope are 2 things
1. Current gen exclusive (no switch, PS4, XB1]
2. powered by Unreal Engine 5
@huyi i know right 😂
That logo is just... so bad.
@playstation1995 @Shepherd_Tallon @stinkyx @CynicalGamer Dragon's Dogma 2 was dated for this year in those Capcom internal leaks from many years ago.
Here's hoping that's still a reality...
The MTG cards kinda made it obvious, although I was still holding hope for Dragon's Dogma 2...
Super stoked for SF6! Woohoo!! Who cares about the logo, if the rest of the game suffers like SFV at launch then there's a problem.
