Robert Pattinson may be poised to play the darkest, grittiest Batman yet – but he’s also just like us. As part of a French interview, the British actor digs deep into his love of Final Fantasy VII, explaining the plot to an increasingly bemused Zoë Kravitz. The Cedric Diggory star outlined the love triangle, involving Aeris and Tifa, and reveals that he simply didn’t know which heroine he preferred.
“[So you had to choose between] the one that’s going to heal everything and the one in the short skirt?!” Kravitz scoffs. “These are the options?! Oh my God – this is the problem with the world!”
A very fair point – but Pattinson, like so many of us, was smitten. “Aeris is the really kind girl, and her superpower is to, like, heal everyone and make the world a better place,” he explained. “And then Tifa’s like this sexy little thing, who’s like a thief, and she wears a short skirt. And you’re like: I can’t decide! This is how every guy figures out what love is!”
Ain’t that the truth, Robert.

Team Tifa for me.
She has always been there for Cloud.
This clip is amazing in so many ways. #teamaeris
Man, Zoë Kravitz seemed really annoyed.
Tifa is being sold short there. She helped cloud through his mental health problems and helped save the world, wearing that mini skirt.
Although THAT death emotionally hit hard, (& kept expecting a resurrection that never happened), that Tifa & Cloud were friends from their youth,& the subsequent later on I thankfully went Team Tifa at the Golden Saucer & didn't look back!😁 Must admit I'd like to see Aeris's level 4 limit attack in a gameplay capacity!!
What a brilliant clip! Him trying to explain the mistranslation proves he really is one of us. I do love Zoe Kravitz pointing out how laughably tropey the characters do appear from an outsiders perspective though 😂
Tifa all day. I like Aerith but Tifa carried my team in the original FF7.
Team Tifa all the way. Both original and remake.
@Loftimus She is really kind and she really loves Cloud thats for sure. I agree she is sold like a dumb character and did he call her a thief?
@Flaming_Kaiser To be fair, she plays a bit like a cross between monks and thieves if we’re going by classic Final Fantasy archetypes. He probably just got her slightly mixed up with Yuffie which is fair enough if he hadn’t played the game in years.
Il let my profile pic do the talking for me
Doesn't everybody? Ask any FF fan or heck gamer in general. Odds are the game is up there on the list of their favorite games.
@RogerRoger George Dawes says it all 😉
( I kid!)
*had to edit, cause I spelled his name wrong!
@Flaming_Kaiser She's lovely! Theyve gone done our Tifa wrong!
Ah yes, Tifa the thief. Always stealing things that Tifa. What an absolute kleptomaniac!!!
Team Tifa. 100%.
Tifa is tied with Chun-Li as my favorite video game gal.
@LieutenantFatman
I used her as a thief during my last play through lol. She was my thief/blue mage.
That’s the beauty of the Materia system.
Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person that doesn't like final fantasy
@Would_you_kindly
I'm definitely not the biggest fan. I feel like i have to like them if I wanna be a gamer like it's a requirement but i really only like a few. FF VI and VII are the only two i actually enjoy. The series is just way too complicated and convoluted for me to understand i guess.
Chrono trigger and Mario RPG are more to my liking. Also a big Zelda fan!
@Truegamer79 yeah the story & characters are just really strange & I don't like the combat where you select different attacks from a menu
@nessisonett Probably
For me AerithxZack made much more sense
Tifa FTW because she does not die.....Still hurts...
