Our coverage of the weekly UK sales charts has been somewhat unreliable over the past month, which is representative of how few talking points it generally brings to the table. Without digital sales taken into account, the stats can only tell us so much. Still, Dying Light 2 was the biggest release last week, and it came closest to taking first place off Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
Techland's open world follow-up debuted in second, selling best on PlayStation 5. 54 per cent of boxed copies shifted in the UK were for the PS5 version, while another 19 per cent were on PS4. However, the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection suffered a sharp drop in sales. A 70 per cent decrease saw it plunge from fifth down to 21st. Elsewhere, the UK sales charts are business as usual: Nintendo titles dominate and the rest of the top 10 is made up of FIFA 22, Grand Theft Auto V, and Call of Duty: Vanguard.
In a Push Square poll conducted over the weekend, 28 per cent of you told us you'd either pre-ordered Dying Light 2 or picked it up on launch day.
Here's the latest top 10 in full.
UK Sales Charts: Week Ending 5th February 2022
- Pokémon Legends: Arceus
- Dying Light 2
- FIFA 22
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons
- Minecraft (Switch)
- Mario Party Superstars
- New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe
- Grand Theft Auto V
- Call of Duty: Vanguard

I imagine Uncharted had a lot of people going for the €10.00 upgrade option too.
It'll be interesting to see how this looks once Horizon and Elden Ring drop.
It’s always nice to see Nintendo doing well, regardless of whether you are a fan or not.
But who the heck is STILL buying GTAV?!?
@lolwhatno I’m pretty sure the great devs part runs contrary to the story told by former and current employees of a toxic work environment and awful management.
@RadioHedgeFund Same nutters who keep buying Minecraft for the Switch!
@ChrisDeku The things that surfaced about Techland's management and such made it sound like every other business here in Poland. Not saying that makes it ok, just offering some perspective. We still have a long way to go.
I’ve seen a lot of people saying they are waiting for Forbidden West and GT7 so are saving their gaming money and time. I’m sure that has affected sales this week.
@RadioHedgeFund I'm not sure the validity of this, so take with a HUGE pinch of salt, it's probably BS... but I read somewhere that you can get more GTA money with the game than with Shark Cards, so it can be a better offer to buy the game again than to buy shark cards if you want to top up your wallet. As I said i'm really not sure about that at all.
Does anyone know if this is true? It would certainly help explain it's ever presence in the charts a little.
Far more likely, like Minecraft, it's just popular and theres always a new generation of players (mostly kids) willing to buy the game. My niece, nephews and all their friends all have Mincecraft on all their devices. Phones, PC, Swich, anything else. Multiple purchases.
Without digital sales, this statistic is useless for assessing non-Switch games. DL2 is obviously a success on the digital front, as Steam numbers reveal.
Would be nice if digital sales were included I’m still confused as to why this isn’t released to the public. Is it really that hard?
@RadioHedgeFund I think that every time I see GTA V in the sales charts…. Every time!
Wow, Legends Arceus at number 1. 😃
@Anti-Matter hardly a surprise. Pokémon is to Nintendo what Marvel and Star Wars are to Disney, they print money regardless of quality. Not that I'm saying any of them are bad, they are all family friendly I.P's so having a wider reach is good but for me I wish they took more chances with these things!
I'm loving dying light 2 ,its a great game, the music is brilliant
@RadioHedgeFund GTAV will be number one in mid March. That will mainly be from people who have been paying it for 3 generations now and not many will be newcomers.
Sod GTA, who the hell is still buying Mario?
Pokemon Legends Arceus is the first Pokemon game I decided not to buy, love the Pokemon series, but Pokemon Legends Arceus just doesn't appeal to me and I'm not entirely sure why. I would say I might be willing to give the game a try once it gets a discount... but Nintendo Exclusives NEVER get discounts so I may just borrow a friend's copy.
@Shepherd_Tallon did they end up letting you upgrade the ps plus version? I'd swear i never bought on the ps4 and the option wasnt there for me to upgrade before, just had the plus one, but the upgrade was there for me at the weekend.
Wait til next month. GTA will be back at number 1.
Provided they release a physical version. Which I cant see anywhere yet.
@Robinsad That's interesting.
I did have the upgrade option on my account too, but I was trading in some old games and just picked up the physical PS5 copy for peanuts.
@RadioHedgeFund There are kids around the world growing up and parents are buying their children games like we were when we were kids. We gotta take that into account
@Robinsad You sure you didn't own Lost Legacy digitally either? Because you only need to own one of the games to upgrade.
I had Uncharted 4 on disc and Lost Legacy digital, so I upgraded from there so I wouldn't have to use the disc.
I'll say this: usually I sigh and roll my eyes when the latest Pokemon game curbstomps the nearby competition, but I'm actually happy to see Legends: Arceus doing so well. It's a fantastic take on the series, and the first Pokemon game to feel like an appropriate fit for hardware being marketed as a home console.
Coming 2nd to Pokemon Legends is no bad thing as its dominating sales, the only games i can see getting No 1 over it this month is Horizon 2 and maybe Elden Ring.
As for DL2 well i've put about 20 hours into it so far and its very very good.
I’ve never played lost legacy so have taken up the upgrade, I may be wrong, maybe I did pick up uncharted 4 at some point but was pretty sure only had the plus once when check before launch if I was eligible for the upgrade
Sony & Nintendo always deliver. But noticed not even Microsoft’s Halo didn’t make top 10 but is beaten by old title of GTAV & the underwhelming Vanguard
Really pleased for Dying Light 2 considering the reviews which are all over the place!
Glad to of been one of the fans to support it Day One.Absolutely fantastic game!
@BuGGy2DaB Most Halo players got it on Gamepass and the MP is F2P.
Nice to see Dying Light 2 have a good chart debut.
@Ralizah curbstomp? Well that's...quite a use of vocabulary.
So happy to see Dying Light 2 smash it out the park.
It’s a great game, easily contender for GOTY imo and you know what, Techland deserve a shout out for some of the best communication with customers on social media than any other developer. Clear, precise and giving customers answers throughout the day. Love to see it.
@Medic_Alert yes those are the sort of numbers I’ve seen before, I just don’t know if it’s possible to add the cash onto an exiting account, or it’s people just setting up new accounts, or neither. I don’t have enough knowledge on the game to answer this and a quick Google only pointed to some dubious and inconclusive Reddit posts.
It doesn’t really matter tbh. Either way 160 million sales for a paid game is insane!
How on earth is GTAV still in the charts, who are these people? Lol
@sanderson72 guilty.. I bought digital Minecraft for myself for Xmas recently because I bought 2 Switch Lites for my kids and 2 physical copies of Minecraft for them.. I’m part of the problem lol
@Ralizah Arceus is definitely the best Pokémon game in a very long time.
@Grimwood So you never made it to the open world or experienced any of the big features but think its a bad and not a well made game despite only playing a part of the extended tutorial.
@themightyant If thats the truth thats sad its so bloody wastefull.
@Medic_Alert And you can sell your old copy.
@Medic_Alert Still with all the pollution extremely wastefull we dont need any extra waste for no reason. With sportsgames the same thing they are useless the next year just make it a life service thing. And COD and BF the same they are totally useless because most of the stuff isnt on the disk especially the online only stuff.
@Medic_Alert As long i can i will never go digital i have all my singleplayer games on disc and i use limited Run Games for a reason.
I only believe things like shooters with singleplayer as a download looking at you COD, BF a online only game why even print a case is useless.
Fortnite is even more of a joke, sportgames have no value and are useless the next year. A physical release a case with a code those companies should get shut down.
