Well, well, well. Elden Ring, you can't do this to us! Fake, illusory walls have been a staple of FromSoftware titles since 2009's Demon's Souls, hiding bonus items and weapons behind seemingly stable surfaces you need to hit in order to have them melt away. It's only ever taken one attack to make them disappear, but this new Elden Ring revelation could turn the mechanic on its head. That is if it's not a glitch.
As detailed in the Twitter video below, it's been discovered there's yet another illusory wall in Volcano Manor. The area is already packed full of them, but this new one requires a little more than just a swing of your sword to reveal. In fact, it requires a lot of swings. Exactly 10 seconds worth of hits in a video that's been sped up!
Now, the interesting thing here is that the wall doesn't act like any other usual illusory one. Besides the fact it takes an absurd amount of hits to disappear, of course. There's no hint of the normal audio cue to confirm it's a fake wall, and the bricks literally just disappear from the frame all of a sudden. Also, the wall reappears after resting at a Site of Grace. With this in mind, there's definitely a possibility this is just a glitch.
But what if it's not? Have all those messages trying to troll us actually been real this whole time? Are we going to have to go around attacking every wall in the game for 30 seconds now? Let's hope, for all our own sanity, this is simply a bug. Ain't nobody got time for that! Hopefully, this isn't a new article we have to add to our Elden Ring guide in the near future.

Good to know I definitely missed at least one because of this
Thereโs so many things I still have to see in this game!
So all those messages were right ๐
No way in hell would you have to attack each wall on the entire map for 30 seconds. It's an unintended glitch ๐
"Well, if you don't eat your meat you can't have any pudding."
That is far too many hits
Please no please for the love of all that is holy let this be just a glitch. One strike is enough. I'm not going to hit walls 10 times to reveal more stuff! No way Fromsoft. NO WAY!
this article ruined my day
@Elodin I certainly didn't need no education on this subject
@Elodin And when they've given you their all
Some stagger and fall after all it's not easy
Banging your heart against some mad buggers wall
Lol but for real this such an intriguing world From has built. When you're not even playing you're thinking "I wonder what's beyond those woods, or those gates guarded by that huge lion?". All the same let's not forget to talk about HFW too else we're feeding into the "Horizon being eclipsed" narrative hehe because it's also such an outstanding game.
There's a meme for that.

@RubyCarbuncle That and it doesn't act like any other illusory wall where it fades away
Saw this on Twitter earlier. I've played for nearly 50 hours, seen a lot of messages, have never hit a wall and have it go away, not once, but I never hit it more than once or twice either. That citadel looking building to the North and east of alimgrave where you fight the invader outside had a message on every wall but I never found a fake one. And that building really needs a door too, after beating that guy I never found anything.๐
Is there a guide to fake walls in Elden Ring?
Damn I've been running through Volcano Manor today and have not seen any fake walls ๐ฅฒ
Thatโs stupid as hell. Iโm sure not gonna go around hitting walls more than a couple times, let alone, around 50.
I'm 10 hours in.
It's around a 9 for me so far.
My only complaint is that regions should be locked until you explore the lower level ones. Like sometimes idk where to go. The world is soooo overwhelming.
@Cherip-the-Ripper I won't spoil where in the manor but i will just say the manor holds many disturbing secrets and reveals. I actually finished the manor questline yesterday and it was really really good, it had many interesting characters and the manor itself was all kinds of creepy.
@RevGaming That's kinda the point, From want you playing and exploring and not following a linear path. Dark Souls is famous for giving you 3 paths to start with even though 2 of them will destroy you as they are intended for late game play, of course that hasn't stopped people playing them "out of order".
To give you a good idea at how free the world is in ER i done a massive late game area fairly early on thinking it was the next step only to realise once i finished that part i done it earlier then most, of course when i went back to the "correct path" i was high level and had great gear and so was one shotting enemies and taking down bosses really quick. Its that free nature what really sets it apart from other open world games not named Breath of the Wild.
@WallyWest I don't see the benefit from it. I think it's a trade off. Yeah, you want to explore with more anticipation but you're overwhelmed and get exhausted.
I went back and missed low level bosses and it was a breeze. Stuff like that is the thing I don't find benefitial from being open world. Plus the dungeons are predictable (there's always a boss at the end and you fight 1-2 types of enemies to get there). I am also seeing maps and enemies being recycled (on top of animations and sound effects recycled from old games).
I'm liking the mount and the summons tho. So far that has been the thing that makes it different. I don't think the open world adds too much. Like I said. I think it's a trade off.
Still will probably give it around a 9. Goty? Might be. I think personally it depends how much variety the game keeps pushing. I prefer Sekiro.
@WallyWest oh I've actually just visited pushsquare because I can't find the main boss fight. Apparently still have a ways to go, initially thought I could just kill everyone that they needed me to so I could get transported to him but they're all a bit far away. I'll do my best to find what you're talking about, you truly are the flash, already done with the quest lol
Edit: I'm dumb af, I totally forgot about the teleporter I was supposed to check out later. Guess I'll leave the boss fight for tomorrow.
This game is crazy... Love it ๐
The one way door also resets when resting, so not a glitch. A feature to address some sealed room ideas.
I love this. Hope it was intentional
Is that their only thing they think about? I've seen speed runners complete the game so quickly and showed glitches, that's all down the drain with patches which is a shame
I've hard about this, feel sorry for the people trolled.
Cant be right , how would one even find this without prior knowledge
