F1 Manager 2022 was technically announced ages ago, but Frontier has now finally made it formal. The studio, known for titles such as Planet Coaster and Jurassic World Evolution, is turning its talents to Formula One.
This is an officially licensed management sim for the motorsport, and will be the first in a series of annual releases. Players will fill the role of a team principal, ensuring the success of your drivers and engineers in the quest for the driver's and constructor's championships. According to the press release, the game will feature "broadcast-quality" visuals and will provide fans with a challenging experience, "showcasing the intricacies of the world’s most prestigious racing brand".
There aren't tonnes of details yet, but it all sounds like what you'd expect from a management sim. Formula One's Ross Brawn says players will be "upgrading cars and race facilities, hiring drivers and engineers, balancing budgets and driver demands" and will need to make "critical decisions" when races are underway,
The game is pencilled in for release on PlayStation 5 and PS4 in the Summer of 2022. Are you excited for F1 Manager 2022? Put your foot down in the comments section below.

Ah shame it’s based on the 2022 season as that means you won’t be able to use cheat mode by getting a direct line to Michael Masi 😂
I actually quite like the idea of an F1 management game. I'm not even that into F1 really — just think optimising your team could be pretty addictive. I like that aspect of the racing game, anyway.
@render Everytime I think I'm over it I realize I'm not
This could be great fun actually. I’m well into Football Manager and Out of the Park Baseball, incredibly addictive.
@render I was so upset by the fix last year I can't even think about watching it this season, let alone play a game based on it.
From someone who had watched it for about 35 years up until that point, thanks for destroying my former favourite sport Masi.
I'm not putting another penny into F1. Robbing our man Lewis on the biggest stage of all?
They've sh*t the money bed there!
Motorsport Manager was one of my favourite games but they never released it on console which was disappointing. This feels like it’ll be just as good, if not better, so I’m in.
We'll see. The fact that it's a standalone game is promising but every non-FM/OOTP franchise mode for the big sports games is painfully thin, F1 included. Looking forward to some gameplay screenshots and video.
@MarkMarky @BlaizeV Hopefully we won’t see a repeat of that sort of shenanigans again but it does feel like it’s tainted the sport somewhat. Being a fan of F1 in general I just want to see some good racing and a fair outcome 🤞
@Kairu Can't believe I'm poking this hornet's nest for the millionth time, but how do you feel Max was the better driver over the course of the season if they were even going into the last race and Hamilton was running away with it up until the end? I ask in peace.
@bozz More wins, more poles, more podiums, twice as many laps in the lead, more consistent, less errors on the track, he's lost big points in Baku, Silverstone and Budapest.
Hamilton made mistakes in Imola, Baku, Austria, completely missed Monaco. He has been great, but Verstappen has been incredible.
@Kairu I'm a Ferrari guy so I'm not taking sides but I think your last statement is how I see it. It took Max being incredible and Lewis having a down year by his standards just for Max to be level with him going into the last race. A smidge in either direction and yeah, I see Hamilton being champ yet again (that's not to speak of the last race fiasco).
@render don't worry, it will be a micro transaction that will be patched in after launch
Love F1 but on this occasion, I'll stick to actually racing the cars.
Hoping to bury the memory of last season. Absolute and utter disgrace from the FIA. Change the regs to improve performance of higher raked cars, baffling decisions throughout the season and then chuck away the rule book to make sure someone other than Mercedes won ultimately to entice more fans (money) into the sport.
Been watching and attending f1 since I was about 7.
I'm looking forward to this but as much passion I have for f1 in general I feel to witness my team losing in the last race like Mercedes did in a game I may need an indestructible controller.
P. S. I don't follow teams I follow the drivers and there is some exceptional young talent in f1 at the moment so can't wait for new season.
@darksoul77 I hear you about following drivers more than the teams. But I can't help but have a soft spot for Williams and McLaren, especially after experiencing Mansell Mania and seeing Senna rip through Woodcote for the first time.
Who's the talent you mention? Obviously I'm biased towards the Brits but I think Norris, Russell and Leclerc all have an excellent shot at a WDC in the next few years.
Yes, yes, YES! Day one purchase. Pre-order. All over this! Loved Motorsport Manager in spite of the lack of licenses. Played all 3 on iOS too. And this being on PS as well, I enjoyed JP evolution. I get Codies F1 every year, so this is absolutely on my list. Can. Not. Wait!
